Dont get how GTWS are ”not only ok with”, but emphasize the need for a big team to win you races. What!? Get all the advantages you want before/after the race from your team, but on race day there should have an equal playing field along the course. Should make it abundantly clear if on course assistant is something you should plan and arrange for. Really appriciate the videos though. Well made and exciting. Many thanks! Very appriciated 💐
Wow those are some unfair rules. Apparent from the fact that not everybody reads 28 rules just the fact that some have a big team helping them and some are racing on their own makes it totally unbalanced...
I needed this! Haven't been running for the past year and didn't think of doing so next year as well. Now I'll just need to rewatch this vid after the holiday season is over to kickstart my running for 2022!!!
Great video, so cool to watch well made content about trail running. Yet it was really disappointing to learn that the race/series rules are not fair for each athlete. Sad that GTWS would give Salomon and other big teams fuelling advantages.
Interesting series. It is a bit concerning to see someone like Remi Bonnet being extremely underweight. I suppose it is linked to his background as a skimo athlete, but I certainly hope he's getting the support he needs. It's also very unfortunate that people from certain teams get advantages that others do not have. A sport can't take itself serious when it allows to let this happen.
I have a question - these guys are sponsored by Salomon but they have a Red Bulls hat. So can they have multiple sponsors? I am unclear how that works.
13:00!!! did that factor into the results? Anyone who didn't comply is freakin pure evil garbage. Disgusting! If I was competing and saw people taking bottles I would have completely lost my cool!
Great job Solomon! errrr EURO TRASH CHEATERS! Your videos of slamming downs and going off trail make you look like such great stewards of the outdoors. Also classy speculation about Drake's contract.
This is the first of 7 TV episodes on the 2021 season, on will be premiered every day ! You can find the 2022 agenda and all the information on the series here: www.goldentrailseries.com/
So let me get this right - self-supported doesn't actually mean self-supported at all, the rules seem to vary on the day, and independent athletes are being put at major disadvantage and squeezed out, in favour of a few big sponsored teams? Because that doesn't exactly come across as all that "sporting" for a "sport" that claims it wants the world to take it seriously yet shows no interest in addressing such troubling inconsistencies - and I'm outta here...
Salomon as a whole is overpriced and low quality, it's unfortunate they have such a huge sponsor share in the sport. I don't think I've ever hated a shoe quicker.
Saying "Self Supported" when you mean you mean "No Official Aid Stations" is more than a little misleading. I get that there are nuances of language, but I feel that operating in a multi-nation space clarity of statement in a language is a fairly basic requirement. Trying to wave it off with a "it's on page 28 of the rules" is a little too hand-wavy. Especially when you follow up that statement with talking about how having a big team is key to performance and holding up a large corporate sponsored team as an example. Way to marginalize the athlete.
O stopped watching when the dude said money doesn't win you races then goes on to talk about how the Solomon team has masseurs and staff for everything lmao. This is ultra commercialization of trail running and it's shit.
"Running fast is all that matters now." Sorry, but this simplification caters to the media and dumbing down of a complex sport. Just consider tactics and strategy. Then there is experience -- how many athletes win all their first races in a season? How many win the same race year after year? How about luck and weather? Running fast is never enough. Watching all these athletes fall down in this video is yet another media sound bite akin to professional cycling when the media focuses on only the crashes shown over and over. I despise media gloss on any sport. The GTWS team is NOT Rio Madrid as trumpeted at the beginning of this vid. I'm going to go watch the Barkeley videos again because those runners are real people, suffering ugly and triumph without the media gloss.
Gregory Vollet, what a bad person! Start by paying all your athletes fairly, all of them!!! Before talking big words… I had to deal with the guy a few times, not the nicest and fairest person…
Burying the clause that says teams can provide support to their runners in a "self-sufficient" race, all the way back 28 pages in the rulebook, is not cool.
With. several Spanish elite runners, I also think it would be a good idea to have these videos in Spanish. The 2019 season had the recaps in English, Spanish and French. I still watch them in English because I've been training my ear to different accents and want to be able to understand everybody.

2:38 that jump is just pure epicness.

Yes I’m not going to bother watching it now - I read the comments first

My thoughts exactly! For some reason, this video is so motivating and gives me so much energy to get out there!

I agree. Rules seem like they need to be adjusted/redrawn a bit. I appreciate that the athletes kept a good attitude about it all though.
It is quite stupid to say " self supported " then allow water and food to be handed out.
Beautiful job! I'm going to binge watch all episodes for sure!!
not a fair set up at alllll, wow, big money teams was definitly given advantage
Incredible!!! Can't wait to watch the other episodes in this series/season. So motivating!
These trail runners r awesome. Kilian being my all time favorite.
Best Christmas gift ever, thanks so much
Good video although a bit obvious that it's an ad for Salomon...
Let's go!!!!! Super pumped for the season
Ok, now I know what *self-sufficient race* really means^^
Still incredible (super-human) performances though.
This "last minute rule change" reeks of the back dated TUE's in the cycling world.
it wasn't last minute, just not understood
Awesome!! Its here, finally. Good job GTS.

Loved it! Waiting for the next episode!

I call bullocks on the self support.
Love it! cant wait to get this lower back fixed and crush the trails again!
Cool Film !
A great first episode - Congratulations!
Superb first episode!
Wooow well done Golden Trail Series! Awesome video 😍
Good job Golden Trail Series 🔝❤️
Bravo!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Loved it 😍
"Who is the best trail runner on earth" or who is the best trail runner at sub marathon distances?
I like France because they get Champaign after finishing instead of gross beer. 🤓 That's how you finish a race.
🔥
Einfach nur gut.
I have a question - these guys are sponsored by Salomon but they have a Red Bulls hat. So can they have multiple sponsors? I am unclear how that works.
The sponsors do not conflict (eg Red Bull is an energy drink, not a shoe/clothing company)
@@Metaman1980 Ah makes sense. I would still think he would have a salomon hat but I'm sure that's all worked out in the contracts. Thanks

Hola, porque no colocan subtítulos en español en los videos, el trail es de todo el mundo, 🙏

Olla de Nuria not Fair at all, sad to see what is Salomon doing 😅
What is the relationship between Golden Trail Series and UTMB World Series? Are you competitors? Complementary to each other?
different distances

Tourists ruined Pikes Peak. I kinda wish it wasn't involved.
