At the very least, it could be an ego thing - like Jessica Lange has had top-notch I MEAN TOP-NOTCH men (Mikhael Baryshnikov - the greatest ballet dancer or perhaps greatest dancer period of his generation, Sam Shepard - the most acclaimed American playwright of his generation), and if someone could get through her defenses enough to where they found themselves in a romantic relationship with her, they could think to themselves "Why me? Why did I succeed whereas virtually everybody else would be rejected? Why would this legend want ME?" I would start to say "Well, take away her fame, and just look at her looks and talent and personality and brain and spirit, and see what we have", but that is really an impossible hypothetical question because her fame and her opportunities have certainly played a role into molding who she is.
American Horror Story needs Jessica Lange, and if she doesn't come back.... I'm afraid it's lost its magic, really... sad. Love Jessica Lang, I think her and Sarah Paulson are my favorites on the show.... but Jessica's GOT to be there... she gives it so much class. Ah well

I can imagine that being something she'd do when she retires from acting. As a serious actress, who went to school and studied with the best, i can see how it would seem a bit silly to be hawking and signing books. Its silly when you see some 20 year old tv actresses writing memoirs.

OMG I just love this women. I, as other have said, saw her first in King Kong 1976 and loved her ever since. Watching her in this interview now, especially as she talks about her passion for photography you can see her love for this in her face, her voice..... I recently rewatched Frances and was WOW I had forgotten how powerful that performance was. Looking forward to Ms. Lange's next chapter in her life!!!!! Would love to see her publish a second book of her photography.
Jessica Lange's performance in Frances made me want to pursue acting. The performance was so raw, but controlled and artistic. She reminded me of James Dean. I know she doesn't consider ahs serious acting, and she shades ahs a lot, but ryan Murphy gave her a shot when Hollywood stopped calling, and he introduced her to a much younger audience and extended her fanbase with us younger folk...it decided interest in her from Hollywood again..i hope she doesn't completely disregard ahs And thats one of the things i love about ryan murphy-say what u want about his projects, but he gave a lot of work to older actresses and resparked their careers. Without him idk if i would have ever discovered Frances conroy,Jessica lange, and Kathy bates, and from there discovered their other previous excellent work( _Frances,_ and _Annie,_ in particular)
Eugene O'Neill CREATED the American theater....there is the family drama a la LDJourney, and there is the social drama ala Iceman...those are the two strains of American playwrighting for a century! For instance, who can look at Harper in Angels In America and NOT think of Mary Tyrone?
What is so interesting about Lange when she is not in character, but herself, in video interviews, is all of her odd mannerisms. I mean, the little head darts and undulations, the struggling to find the right word or phrase or analogy or expression to explain herself and answer the interviewer's question - it's almost as if after all of these years, she still has a nervous relationship with the interviewer, the camera, and only God knows what else. Sometimes, it is almost as if they all add up to someone who "has something sort of 'wrong' with them", perhaps something neurological. Sometimes, I wonder if after all those years of acting and stardom, some of them (like her) pinch themselves and wonder just at a basic level "Why am I here? How did I get here? Why am I one of the ones being noticed so much, rather than toiling away in some thankless capacity on a farm or in a factory or in a cubicle somewhere?" I'm not sure. But all of her strange mannerisms add up to a sum total that is very different from almost all of her peers. She has an incredible *haecceity* to her.
haven't watched a charlie interview in a while...whole time i was thinking of the creep he was....did he creep on jessica? ...he and matt lauer did a lot of important historical interviews but they both became creepoids....hard to respect them now.....

He asks a question and then proceeds to not only cut her off but then try to answer FOR her, with multiple choice possibilities as an answer , trying to prompt her to choose one, instead of just asking the question and LETTING HER CHOOSE HER OWN REPLY AND ACTUALLY VERBALISE IT!!!! I don’t know who he is, but I shall NOT be watching any other attempts at interviewing.
He pissed me off one time when was interviewing Ann-Margret. He was asking personal questions about her relationship with Elvis and kept pressing her even after she said he was making her uncomfortable. No respect.

Jessica comes home all the time, and has a home in God's country. She goes antiquing with her daughter in Duluth, Mn.
