I disagree with Mike and Gloria decision sure Archie has his own opinions about politics, race, ect but he did help Edith raise Gloria changing her and bathing her watching his little girl grow into a beautiful young woman getting married and giving them a grandson. Also they adopted Stephanie proving they are capable of raising a child.
Even Edith said she did everything taking care of Gloria..she got up in the night when Gloria was a baby and even when she was sick. Archie didn't help.

There were SO many layers to the text and subtext of this show. When Archie sat on the toy gun and it registered its rat-a-tat-tat, it was clear he was experiencing war-related flashbacks. His pain and fear, reinforced by the stern warning not to mock him, were evident. Trauma Meathead knew nothing about, despite his pompous pontification. Brilliant acting and writing.

Several extremely competent financial planners I have listened to over the years advised against leaving the kids to the grandparents. Nothing to do with toxicity or not being fit. It was a question of age. Age has a high probability of a decline in general health and illness.
