      if you liked the pork skin, and enjoy casual drinks with friends, try the fried chicken skin to snack on (sometimes, i just pair it with rice and eat it for lunch lol) or maybe something even better, sisig.

    Great array of Filipino foods laid out here and the guests were so engaging and polite about everything on the boodle table ;)! Kudos to FoodieMomma for preparing this for our foreigner friends.
    However, I have to comment that mangosteen is not really indigenous to the Philippines (the first time I managed to try this fruit was in Bangkok, Thailand in the 90s). Yes, we can see mangosteen being sold in groceries all over the Philippines but if you're talking about if we grew up eating this, it's a negative. And if it is grown somewhere in Mindanao now, then that's only NOW.
    Coming from the northern island of Luzon, during my kid days, the only way to sample durian then was as durian candy from Davao or some province there in Mindanao. It was not indigenously grown in Luzon except perhaps by a few fruit tree afficionados. Again, my first taste of fresh durian was in Bangkok, Thailand decades ago.
    Of course, these 2 fruits might be the only one available for purchase in the Singapore market when this video was shot. But I would go more for "santol (cotton fruit)", which Singapore also sells, guyabano (soursop), and even atis (custard apple) fruits as indigenously Filipino. These days, they are hard to source even in the Philippines. The funny thing, dragon fruit which is not indigenously Filipino, is popularly being grown and sold in Luzon now - har har ;)!

    • @arnie3631
      @arnie3631 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree with you about mangosteen not being native to the Philippines. I am 47 years old now. My dad who used to work in Davao brought mangosteen every time he went home when we were kids.

    • @littlemystic4340
      @littlemystic4340 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arnie3631 I did mention that mangosteen can be sourced in Mindanao but it was not native to the Philippines since even pre-Spanish or Spanish times ;). Most likely we got a seed or seedling of it when Thailand started exporting it to the Philippines a few decades ago ;)!
