oh yeah, Lumpia is a party favorite. There's a saying about lumpia "cook a hundred, gone in 10 minutes" here in the Phil. because it's a lot cheaper; at that price, you could probably have about 5-6x times more pieces, Adobo is usually pork or chicken or chicken and pork combination. other common type of adobo is adobong kangkong (water spinach) and adobong pusit (squid).

Excellent job with the pronunciation guys! You can call the Shanghai rolls either eggrolls or fried lumpia. There is a cold version call fresh lumpia that's worth trying. Good job ordering white rice. Anything with broth goes with rice and almost every Filipino family has their own version of sinigang and adobo. Also worth ordering: pork sisig (an A. Bourdain favorite), kare kare (peanut oxtail stew), dinuguan (pig blood stew), beef bulalo (beef soup), pancit (pan-fried noodles), BBQ pork skewers, and halo-halo (a popular frozen desert). Most filipino restaurants in NA should have these dishes, as well as some variation of lechon (suckling pork). Most restaurants serve lechon kawali (deep fried) which is good but the slow-roasted lechon is world-famous. Consider yourself lucky you ever get to try the roasted version. Also if you have a Jollibee close by, make sure to try the "fiesta noodles" which is traditionally called pancit malabon (wet noodles in a mild shrimp sauce). Again good job and hope you try more filipino cuisine!
Suggestions: 1. Any type of pancit (noodles) 2. Arroz caldo (rice porridge w/ chicken and ginger) 3. Halo Halo (shaved ice dessert w/ assorted sweet fruits, jellies, etc.) 4. Lechon kawali (crispy pork) 5. Filipino BBQ pork or chicken skewers 6. Sisig (sizzling pork served on a hot plate) Also, there are many variations of lumpia, including different fillings, sizes/thickness, wrapper types, and preparations: deep fried, pan fried, uncooked, etc.
Please try Jollibee! It's a Filipino fastfood and I suggest you get the chicken bucket (spicy and original) Spaghetti, Palabok, Yum Burger, Aloha Burger, Chicken Burger, Pineapple juice, Adobo rice, and lastly don't forget for dessert! The famous "Peach Mango Pie" 🤗 I swear y'all gonna love it!

This is a great intro to Filipino food. Those people made great recommendations. Looks like they make good quality food too. A lot of times, I eat the Lumpia Shanghai without the sauce, it’s so good on its own. But I do like it with rice. Eric has good instincts! We do eat everything with rice. It balances everything out. You’re making me hungry. Watching from California at 12am!!
Wow! We Filipino are so used to those kinds of food. Almost like every week that's what's on our table here. I'm glad you guys like it. Try Kare Kare, Beef caldereta, Mechado, Relyeno fish. Pancit Malabon, Lechon. Fresh Lumpia Also our delicacies, Kakanin, ginataan, Espasol, polvroon and many more
I like how your so knowledgeable about the cuisine your presenting i appreciate it and i like how u respect different cuisines. Your the best. Subscribed!
Well done. I like the cheat sheet, it encourages learning and doing your homework. It is a unique approach. For foods with that come with sauces, it is alright to try them with or without them. Many Filipinos also prefer to eat foods without the sauce that it comes with.
First time Ive watch your vids & definitely enjoyed it. Im a Filipina who lives in Canada but still cooks a lot of Filipino dishes. All those 3 foods are absolutely delish & all 3 goes with rice. Suggestion I definitely like you to try beef caldereta, nilagang baka or bulalo, lumpiang toge dip in a vinegar, menudo, chicken afritada & filipino style chicken curry. Anyways more vids please. 🙂
Aside from dessert items, always be sure to have rice available when eating most Filipino dishes. If its not a spaghetti or some noodle (pancit) dish, always assume rice is meant to be eaten with it. I would recommend trying bulalo (a rich hearty braised fall off the bone beef soup), Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly), Beef Kaldereta (rich beef tomato based stew), and bbq. Halo Halo for dessert. Can't go wrong with these dishes.
One of the dynamics of eating Filipino food is basically to pair the salty dish with the sour dish, like what you just had, rice, adobo and sinigang. Together these dishes create a fusion of flavors that would keep you wanting for more...servings! LoL They do look delicious! And am watching at two thirty in the morning! 😋
Try the beef mechado, chicken adobo, menudo, Kare kare with beef oxtail shanks with fermented shrimp paste, beef or goat kaldereta, Beef Bulalo, chicken tinola, pancit miki-bihon guisado with pork, liver, quail eggs, vegetables like carrots, cabbage, onions, garlic, green beans and tofu and other delicious dishes. Try the fruit shakes like avocado shake, watermelon shake, buko shake, and mango shakes to quench that thirst
Try Kare-Kare (w a little bit of crispy shrimp paste along w it), Pancit bihon (w a lil bit of citrus squeezed before consuming it) , chicken inasal (can be dipped in spicy vinegar toyomansi), grilled liempo (same dip w spicy vinegar toyomansi) , garlic shrimp, tocino, and beef/lamb caldereta. ** Don't forget to try Tortang talong (fried eggplant w minced meat and hash spread on top of it) or Relyenong Bangus (Milkfish meatloaf, w banana ketchup or tomato ketchup hotsauce dip)
Try the Halo-Halo (Mix Mix) Sisig, Lechon, Kare-kare with Shrimp paste. and also try Our very Own Filipino Fast Food JOLLIBEEE :D the spring rolls you got thereisa little bit different because it used egg wrapper instead of Rice wrapper :) but Thank you for trying it.
All those are usually eaten with rice. It looks so mouthwatering! 😋😍😋😍 If you're feeling adventurous, you can try the Dinuguan (Blood Stew) and the street food. Especially the skewers. Isaw (chicken intestines), Adidas (chicken feet), Chicharon Bulaklak (deep fried pork intestines), Balut (under developed duck egg), and Kwek Kwek (deep fried flour coated quail eggs). The street food or fried foods are usually dipped in vinegar. Either they mix in chillies, onions, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, calamansi or lemon with the vinegar. You can try the Lechon Kawali and the Crispy Pata. Both can be dipped in vinegar or the liver sauce.
first time watching you guys... and my inner childhood scream "dude that guy on the left is triple H" 🤣😂 lol... got new subs... excited for you guys to try more filipino food 😁
You made Steve's day! Haha. We're going to have to start calling him the cerebral assassin around here now 😉. We can't wait to try more Filipino food! Thinking of trying Jollibee next. Thanks for watching!
when it comes to Lumpia, ALOT of filipino places/restaurants in the US seem to use the vietnamese sweet chili sauce as a dipping sauce, my family uses the Lachoy sweet & sour sauce for decades, a local place has their own custom recipe.
Sinigang, especially the pork variant is my favorite food. You kinda get used to the sour taste the more you have it and eating it with rice is a must The leafy greens that are put in the soup are either Kangkong (Water Spinach) or Mustard Greens. For this video, I think they were mixed with Mustard Greens
There are hundred ways how to cook adobo and it depends which part of province where you come from. I cook mine with lots of pepper corn, brown demerara sugar and a hint of cinnamon, together with Datu Puti vinegar,Light Kikkoman soy sauce, fresh chillies and a bit of water. I love the thick, wet gravy adobo with boiled, steaming pandan rice.
FUN FACT: Most of the name of Filipino dishes actually refers to way/method of cooking, therefore if you want to specify the name, you'll just add the whatever protein is in it. Adobo (means associated with soy and vinegar). Naming convention for specific type is Adobong + protein source (eg. Adobong Baboy, pork adobo which you have in there). You wont regret anything adobo; Chicken, Beef, Squid, Goat, Tuna, Eel. There are veggies versions too like bamboo shoots, water spinach, sitaw (string beans). There's also a version with coconut milk (adobo sa gata). And exotic foods also can be prepared as adobo: snake, giant lizards, crocs, crickets, frog and bugs Sinigang (stewed) also applies to whatever meat or fish is available Lumpia ( refers to wrapping method). There is lumpiang gulay (mixed veggie;could be with or without carrots, squash, beansprout, sweet potato, cabbage ), toge (bean sprout) and shanghai style (with ground pork or beef seasoned with mince onion, garlic and ground pepper). There's also a non-fried version which is Lumpiang Hubad (Naked Lumpia) which main ingredients is palm heart and veggies, partnered with sweet peanut sauce. Next time, please try Lechon Kawali, Sisig and Halo halo :)
Try also sinampalukang manok try it with a little fish sauce with red chilli pepper and ofcourse rice..lumpiang sariwa dip it with a special sauce..and nilagang baka eat them with rice ❤❤❤
we love watching the way you react the filipino food.. pls try also crispy pata, dinuguan with puto,... pls try also the famous fast food in the philippines the jollibee... ☺️☺️☺️
people would usually make sawsawan, dipping sauce for the siningang meat. it would be fish sauce with calamansi and chilis. im salivating. it balances the sourness.
What you’re calling “lumpiang” is just known as “lumpia”. You add the “-ng” when you have the descriptor after it (e.g. “Lumpiang Shanghai” or “Lumpiang Sariwa”). The “plum sauce” is just a regular sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili sauce. Most people eat the Sinigang with rice. Also, white rice is what Filipinos eat 90% of the time with any main dish so it’s good you got white rice. Love that you guys tried Filipino food! It’s highly underrated in the US. :) Also, it’s funny that you guys mentions that US meats are sweeter. I actually think that Filipino cuisine is generally on the sweeter side for its savory dishes than any other cuisine. Next time, try pancit, Kare-Kare (eat with rice), and Filipino-style spaghetti.
Omg. Now Im craving for pork Filipino dishes 😢 As a Filipino working in Saudi Arabia ( pork is banned here) watching this foodgasm makes wanna go back home soon. Thanks for having a taste on our food 😊
Sinigang is an acquired taste, I've never met anyone who liked it on their first try, speaking as a Filipino from the South, it's a hit or miss but it pairs really well with our dishes like Tocino or Tapa or Inasal. I recommend those if you can find them. Also, as another soup alternative, you can tr Tinolang Tuna Isda (fish), if you can find it or find someone who can make it for you, I find it more refreshing than Sinigang.
It took me a couple of years to build up my tolerance for sinigang. Now I consider it a real comfort food. I like either the pork rib, fish or shrimp version, but my wife's favorite is made with salmon bellies. They have that rich and fatty texture that she loves so much.
Every pinoy ( filipino ) is flattered to see you guys trying and actually liking the taste of these foods you've tried. Look out cause there are tons more to taste.
I prefer the pork also, especially the ones with the tiny pork riblets. Mrs. Rick prefers salmon belly, which is very good also. My least favorite is Sinigang na Hipon. I'll eat it, but complain most of the time doing so. 😁
Future things to try, pork sisig, lechon, lechon kawali, crispy pata, beef bulalo, kare kare, pork binagongan, bicol express, chicharon bulaklak, pancit chami, palabok are few more dishes i can think of now. Also try jollibee chicken joy and spaghetti.
Most people are often taken aback at first by the sourness of the sinigang but it is an acquired taste. Filipinos usually take everything with rice (a staple) so we normally have this as a viand and not appetizer as most westerners would categorize soup as. I think most people would hate it at first try and grow to love it after a few more sips of it. It complements rice super well. Lumpia must be everyone's favorite. It has always been mine too! Instead of dipping in sweet chilli sauce I like dipping them into mixture of soy sauce and vinegar or calamansi (Filipino lime)
You have to use rice every bite of any dish. That is how we eat though.hehe. we commonly overly season that is why we need rice to neutralize the taste. Which surprisingly for us is a perfect combination like most asians do.

They're also really good. You can google many dishes out there but I'll just mention monggo, paksiw, sisig and relyenong bangus to name a few.*
Ayyyy finaly a chanel that dosent just say its good wow super good i like that you guys are honest
We appreciate the comment 1 eyed jack! We try to be honest with all of our reviews...good or bad, we like to say what we really think about the foods we try haha!
Try sisig, pancit Canton, bulalo, lechon kawali I'm sure you gonna love it😊😊😊😊
Thanks for watching Oliver, we'll definitely see if we can get these suggestion next time!
Haha. Honestly i would not recommend Pancit Canton. It's not bad but I wouldn't introduce Filipino food with it. But i guess that's just me hehe
07:45 It's true tho lol. We seldom pair dishes w noodles, usually it's paired with rice like that Sinigang over there.
So glad we got rice, it was delicious!!! Noodles will have to wait for round 2 😉
We Filipinos eat any viand with white rice. Next to try, Lechon, Lechon kawali, Lechon paksiw, Relyenong Bangus, Fresh Lumpia, Longganisa, Dinuguan with puto or rice. 😊❤️🇵🇭
Awesome, thanks for the tips Arnel, we'll see if we can get any of your suggestions. Thanks so much for watching!
@@TheTrips just so you know. When he said "puto" its not the bad word. 🤣
I'm an Englishman married to a woman from Cebu.Try Bulalo or Tortang talong. Both are favorites of mine
Thanks so much for the suggestions! And thanks for watching!
You just opened up a whole new world of culinary delights, enjoy!
Thank you for the suggestion! There's so much Filipino food we want to try still!
@@TheTrips This barely scratches the "meal" section. Lots more stuffs to try.
The desserts and snacks are also a must-try especially everything with ube or ube-flavored.
Wow thank u much for liking Phillipine cuisine, try "sisig n tinolang manok (chicken)🥰🥰🥰
The more you eat Sinigang, the more you're hooked to it. I've seen many other nationalities craving for sinigang now. Btw I prefer "Sinigang na Bangus" (Milkfish). I really loved that, my favorite food.
Thank you for trying and liking our Filipino Dishes 😊
Yes my friend we prefer fish Sinigang like pink salmon sinigang👌
For the adobo - you can have pork, chicken, beef, squid, and kangkong type.
Wanted to try chicken, but our local restaurant only had pork. We'll have to go back when they get some chicken in. Thanks for watching!
Wait, you can do beef? My whole life is a lie.
I suppose you can, I just haven't tried it. Spread the love for adobo.
Thanks guys you enjoyed some of our so loved Filipino dishes!
Thanks for trying our Filipino dish
It’s delicious!
oh yeah, Lumpia is a party favorite.
Oh, adobong pusit sounds good....i love squid, I'll have to see if that's on the menu next time! Thanks so much for watching 😀
I hack squid or cuttlefish adobo by melting a bit of butter on top of it before digging in lol
Thanks trying our dishes. Thanks as well for digging-in guys. #motovlogwithjasonrama
Man that was some delicious food! Can't wait to see what we try next!!
Lots of yummy foods on the horizon!
Try pork sisig
@@TheTrips there's no beef version of adobo but there's bistek (beefsteak) tagalog.. instead of using vinegar, bistek uses calamansi and it's actually better...
Cool 😎. Thanks for trying our food !!!
There are different kinds of Lumpia as you've already mentioned so I suggest you try Fresh Lumpia or Lumpiang Sariwa. Try some desserts like Turon and Ube cake as well.
Thanks for all of the suggestions! We'll definitely have to try some desserts next time! Thanks so much for watching!
Well..... There's a lot more guys..... Can't wait to see and watch you trying Filipino foods... You'll love it and that's for sure! Greetings from the Philippines... Just subscribed here... Enjoy...
Thanks so much for watching Rodney!
Most Filipino soups should always go with rice including Sinigang. The rice will tone down the sourness
So glad we got rice for this video and not noodles. The rice was delicious!
Now that looks really good!!! The tiny bit of Filipino I have had was awsome! Thank you guys:)
Thanks so much for watching Brian!!
Thanks so much for the kind words Darren, and thanks for watching!!
I love foreign vloggers as you are promoting philippine tourisn
That they're "comfort food" more than anything is spot on. Thanks for trying them :)
Suggestions:
1. Any type of pancit (noodles)
2. Arroz caldo (rice porridge w/ chicken and ginger)
3. Halo Halo (shaved ice dessert w/ assorted sweet fruits, jellies, etc.)
4. Lechon kawali (crispy pork)
5. Filipino BBQ pork or chicken skewers
6. Sisig (sizzling pork served on a hot plate)
Also, there are many variations of lumpia, including different fillings, sizes/thickness, wrapper types, and preparations: deep fried, pan fried, uncooked, etc.
Thank you for trying our food. . 🇵🇭
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️

You've discovered Gold!! Congrats!!👍
Yes! Thank you!
It was all so good!
Wow! We Filipino are so used to those kinds of food. Almost like every week that's what's on our table here. I'm glad you guys like it. Try Kare Kare, Beef caldereta, Mechado, Relyeno fish. Pancit Malabon, Lechon. Fresh Lumpia Also our delicacies, Kakanin, ginataan, Espasol, polvroon and many more
That looked really good, I could almost smell and taste it with you. It's great to see you out of your safety zone with food from other places.
Thanks David! It's a lot of fun trying new foods, I can't believe it's taken us this long to try Filipino food, it was so good!
*comfort zone you mean hehe
Glad to see you experiment and enjoy Filipino food. Most Filipino dishes are best paired with rice that's why you might find it salty or sour.
I like how your so knowledgeable about the cuisine your presenting i appreciate it and i like how u respect different cuisines. Your the best. Subscribed!
Appreciate it! And thanks for watching :)
Kuddos for trying pinoy foods... Pinoy foods is really under rated... Thanks a lot for appreciating it...
We love it and can’t wait to try more! Thanks so much! 😊
Well done. I like the cheat sheet, it encourages learning and doing your homework. It is a unique approach. For foods with that come with sauces, it is alright to try them with or without them. Many Filipinos also prefer to eat foods without the sauce that it comes with.
In joy the PILIPINO food sinigang adobo in lumpia..
Thanks so much for watching Jell, and thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks for featuring our underated cuisine.
It’s delicious!!!
Try other filipino cuisine like Sisig, Kare-kare and some dessert like Leche Flan and Ube Halaya.
Thank you for the suggestions! We definitely want to go back for more.
Thanks so much for watching Marnie!! 😀
Proud of you to try our foods. Great Job! More vlogs like this please.🇵🇭❤👍
Try the Halo-Halo (Mix Mix)
Sisig, Lechon, Kare-kare with Shrimp paste. and also try Our very Own Filipino Fast Food JOLLIBEEE :D
the spring rolls you got thereisa little bit different because it used egg wrapper instead of Rice wrapper :)
but Thank you for trying it.
Thank you for the suggestion! There's so much Filipino food we want to try still!
I 2nd that. And add CRISPY PATA. ISAW, DINUGUAN and BALOT if your adventurous.
SUBSCRIBED!! KEEP IT UP GUYS 🧡
Thank you so much! 😊
All those are usually eaten with rice. It looks so mouthwatering! 😋😍😋😍
If you're feeling adventurous, you can try the Dinuguan (Blood Stew) and the street food.
Thank you for the suggestion! There's so much Filipino food we want to try still!
I love how you're suggesting them with our big boy foods. ahahaha And note it's not for the faint hearted hahaha
Happy to see you happy! And no judging on the slurping the soup of the plate....we all do it here! Can't let it go to waste! Enjoy on the next one!
first time watching you guys... and my inner childhood scream "dude that guy on the left is triple H" 🤣😂 lol... got new subs... excited for you guys to try more filipino food 😁
You made Steve's day! Haha. We're going to have to start calling him the cerebral assassin around here now 😉. We can't wait to try more Filipino food! Thinking of trying Jollibee next. Thanks for watching!
The non sour version of sinigang is tinola. Both are my favorite especially if you have colds or sick.
oohh! this will be the start of many more “trying Filipino dish” glad you guys are enjoying it.
hopefully the last that will feature Adobobo and the Shanghai Spring roll and Canton Noodles from Cantonese cuisine or the Sisig Delta variants.
love the set up guys... glad your exploring pinoy food..
The order you got was bomb, bomb combinations.
All of the food was so good! Thanks so much for watching Kruger!
U have to eat it w/ rice, Sinigang & adobo. Sinigang is good to dip it w/ mixture of some soy sauce & little lemon. Thanks for trying our food...
ya'll made me hungry. so subbing and looking forward to the next Filipino food escapade.
Mission accomplished, haha! Thanks so much for watching, we can't wait to try more food from the Philippines
when it comes to Lumpia, ALOT of filipino places/restaurants in the US seem to use the vietnamese sweet chili sauce as a dipping sauce, my family uses the Lachoy sweet & sour sauce for decades, a local place has their own custom recipe.
Sinigang, especially the pork variant is my favorite food. You kinda get used to the sour taste the more you have it and eating it with rice is a must
The leafy greens that are put in the soup are either Kangkong (Water Spinach) or Mustard Greens. For this video, I think they were mixed with Mustard Greens
Good to know! Thanks so much for watching Angelo!
And exotic foods also can be prepared as adobo: snake, giant lizards, crocs, crickets, frog and bugs
Sinigang (stewed) also applies to whatever meat or fish is available
Lumpia ( refers to wrapping method).
This is awesome, thanks for sharing all of this info Gerald! We really appreciate it, and thanks so much for watching!
Try also sinampalukang manok try it with a little fish sauce with red chilli pepper and ofcourse rice..lumpiang sariwa dip it with a special sauce..and nilagang baka eat them with rice ❤❤❤
adobo is my favorite so yummy
Adobo was so delicious! We were so happy with the Filipino food we got and want to go back for more!
Watching this again! I really enjoy watching you eating!
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks so much!
we love watching the way you react the filipino food.. pls try also crispy pata, dinuguan with puto,... pls try also the famous fast food in the philippines the jollibee... ☺️☺️☺️
We want to try Jolibee, but there's no locations locally. Have to do a road trip one day !
😊😊😊
people would usually make sawsawan, dipping sauce for the siningang meat. it would be fish sauce with calamansi and chilis. im salivating. it balances the sourness.
Just found you guys, thank you for showcasing our food! Love it when other people have an open mind and yet our food! ❤
Thanks for watching!
Also, it’s funny that you guys mentions that US meats are sweeter.
It's filipino food, you enjoy and savor it your own way, nobody can judge you, great video
Thanks so much for watching!!
The closest non-Filipino dish to sinigang in terms of taste would be minestrone soup I think.
That's a good comparison for the soup! Thanks for watching Nolsp!
Not really lol. There’s nothing like it except Tom Yum soup, a Thai dish. Again, not for everyone but very addicting.
Malaysia literally has singgang which is similar to sinigang, but mostly use fish instead.
Every pinoy ( filipino ) is flattered to see you guys trying and actually liking the taste of these foods you've tried. Look out cause there are tons more to taste.
Absolutely Delish 🤤🤤😍😍
You got that right! 😊
i’m filipino and pork sinigang soup is my all time favorite. i can literally eat it all day
😋!
I prefer the pork also, especially the ones with the tiny pork riblets. Mrs. Rick prefers salmon belly, which is very good also. My least favorite is Sinigang na Hipon. I'll eat it, but complain most of the time doing so. 😁
Nice review guys . Keep mixing in the ethnic food reviews with the usual suspects
Thanks so much for watching Mike!
OMG! My top 3 faaaves! 😍 and yes, you’re supposed to eat the sinigang with rice.
THE RICE’S PURPOSE IS SUPPOSE TO BE TOGETHER WITH EACH AND EVERY DISHES!!! 😂😂😂
You have to use rice every bite of any dish. That is how we eat though.hehe. we commonly overly season that is why we need rice to neutralize the taste. Which surprisingly for us is a perfect combination like most asians do.
Thanks for letting us know! We'll have to try it again eating the rice properly :)
The guy on the left side likes everything. Well done man. 👏
I Love to eat Chicken Adobo because that's my favorite .. Love from Philippines 🇵🇭
Try it with fish sauce and chilly! You'll love it ..
Thank you for the suggestion! :)
