    This just proves my point as to why I love endurance racing so much. You can race for 24 hours and it all comes down to the last lap. Im a massive fan of Porsche too. It doesnt matter what team it is so to see two Porsches going this hard at the end was awesome. And they won GTD as well with Wright Motorsports which is my favorite team so yee yee

Both drivers had incredible races and both really deserved the win but only one could come on top. This battle will surely go down to history! But you got to feel for Laurens Vanthoor. I know him from GT racing for a long time and I like him as a driver and a character. He drove his heart out for nearly 2 hours to finally snatch that 24hrs win. At the same time he should have defended properly when the Pfaff car made the move at the last lap. I think there was a little bit of gap opened for Jaminet which Vanthoor could have prevented... The move at the chicane was obviously desperate but everyone would have done so... fantastic and heartbraking at the same time.

    • @ChasPorter
      @ChasPorter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I thought, that Vanthoor left the door open. But when I look at it again, Jaminet just pushed him out of the way. Brilliant stuff!

    Although I absolutely love this fight, and KCMG was "my" team this year, I think Vanthoor was a tad too eager to get past there. If he had given the position to the Pfaff, he would be absolutely right at the back of him and could've used the slipstream to get him at the final long side. I also think that both of them could've given themselves a bit more room, but I understand that in the heat of the moment at the end of the race, it's more about giving it all or nothing. And that's what I love about this fight.

    These two guys made that race. Would be nice to also see the moments leading up to this as well. Last 15 mins were just awesome. True warriors battling to the end. Much respect to both these drivers. Can’t say I would of tried going side by side through that section, but with the checkered flag in the wind, I can’t say I wouldn’t either

    Gotta understand that a degree of contact is apart of American racing culture, if both drivers bump a bit as long as they don't spin them out or cause mechincal damage it's fair game.

    • @pafsa0717
      @pafsa0717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but Jaminet is French and Vanthoor is Belgian. Both of them are factory drivers for Porsche motorsport. So that doesn't have to do if they're Americans or not. It's about winning over your teammate in a prestigious race so a little bit of bumping is actually required 🙂

    • @ollys1012
      @ollys1012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But the whole idea of multiclass racing such as IMSA is that they race together. If they didnt want to race against eachother they would have formed a breakaway series just for the separate classes but only the GTD's have that in the form of GT3 racing. It's an accepted risk of multi-class racing.

    • @Maenfy

      Yeah 7 DPi cars racing for 24 hours sounds really interesting.

    While I know the second place car had position, you should have known P1 was going to protect. He pressed the issue and burned himself.
    Set him up for the straight, and draft him. And if he tries to crash you at 150-200, I’d think the officials would do something about it.
