Remembering Ramon - Ramon Dekkers Documentary

- Ramon 'The Diamond' Dekkers is widely regarded as the greatest Kickboxer of all time, something which I also firmly believe. This documentary video was not something I actually set out intentionally to create. Most of the interview footage was taken whilst I was out in Holland filming for a Documentary on Dutch Kickboxing, the rest was just taken as I was enthralled at the conversations and the experience of being around two of the people who knew Ramon best. Please therefore forgive any shaky camera and crackly audio work at times, some of the shots were literally unexpected and initially taken out of a passionate interest in finding out more as opposed to being something planned for.
I got back to the UK and just felt I had to do something with this footage. Ramon's story deserves a much more in-depth documentary covering his life than this but as a fellow fan I wanted to put up what I had so people could watch. This video is dedicated in his memory and was done for his children and family. Huge thanks go to Nick and Cor Hemmers for sharing their time with me and to all at Vos who welcomed me into their amazing Gym!
This dude fought in Thailand while the Western world didnt even know what Muay Thai was about. He gained fans through sheer hard work and he fought soooo many fights. A real warrior.
Holland pulled the kickbox car. ( though ramon did muay thai)
is a legend only him thai people respect
Dude was about it
Dont think so mate or he wouldnt of had to fight the morris's in 88 both from england, wasnt it his 9 or 10 professional fight for a title...and sure their was many french aswell, i suppose that will be switch to, yeah only because of col'ism from some...
❤😢❤😢❤😢❤ THA DAIMOND 4 EVER
I am 43 years old and just started Muay Thai. Ramon is a inspiration for me and a true warrior may he rest in peace.
Good luck with the training, you are going to love being involved in Muay Thai!! I am really glad you enjoyed this video I made of Ramon!!
Training every day & shadow boxing

I am 59. practice every day and never feel better ever..in my life.
imo most beautifull sport in the world! have fun!
Your actually giving me inspiration....
He is standing next to Ali and Tyson. There is no doubt about it. He is a titan in a fighting world! R.I.P. Ramon - you'll be always in our hearts.

The Netherland royalty should give Ramon a Knighthood.
Ramon Dekkers was really well known in Thailand. I heard his name since I was a kid and I just knew that he passed away. RIP Ramon Dekkers.
Going 2 Thailand in August and show my respect in a tempel for him❤😢..THE DAIMOND FROM HOLLAND..WHERE I'M FROM❤
Ramon Dekkers needs his own Movie !
I was just thinking that. I’d love his brother to contribute heavily to the film.
Yes I agree ,but who in the world is honestly good enough to pull Ramon Dekkers off you know?
Liam Harrison
Tom Holland in the dekkers movie
He definitely earned it, and so much more. It surprises me that Ramon is not spoken of in the same way as Ali, Tyson, Fury, Khabib but he also had longevity. Who done it in Thailand, against the best Thia fighters, a hostile referee and the whole country, its years of experience and funding against him. And still came out on top. Truly one of, if not the GOAT. It would make a great film, and a good kick-boxer can be made to look good like with some movie magic. They made Segal look good, a world class fighter, with the best co-ordinations, experts etc could almost do him justice. Floating tiger, hidden diamond.
There isn't enough quality documentaries about this guy......what a man!!!!
I could not agree more! Ramon was a phenomenal. Hence why I felt I needed to do this!
He deserves a stateu in Netherlands.

Respect from Algeria. I'm watching videos about Ramon Dekkers since I started practicing Muay Thai, almost 20 years ago. I used to watch his videos and take notes of his technique and combos, then trying to take them into practice or a fight. He was the best inspiration for me in Muay Thai.

Knew him when he had the gym in Breda. Always calm, humble, funny and very very respected.
In the weekends I helped to clean the gym and kantine , was always super extra carefull with his trophies😂. He gave me a Team Dekkers shirt once, still have it and will treasure it forever.
Thanks for this great documentary. You did a really great job!

My Thai trainer told me that " even with a broken leg or arm , he is going to rush onto you as if you're his prey . "
I'm Thai and I never saw the foreigner fight like him in our country ,he was fight by his soul and spirit ,respect him.
i admired and respected Ramon above all, I am honored to have worked with him, trained with him and I keep a certificate with his signature when I trained with him in one of his seminars!
Never been interested in this sport in my life, until l saw a TH-cam video of Ramon, now l cant stop watching his fights, what a fighter.
“That’s why he was a real champion for me...he was always nice, always doing his thing, training.” 1:34 This statement showed me that everything in life isn’t about being the best at what you do, but rather, it’s about your morals, values, and the way you treat others while you are doing the thing you love to do.
Watched him for 20 years, will watch him for the test of my life, legend.
I feel like his career is lesser known to newer combat sports fans so it’s great that some people have made vids abt him. Thank you.
I was ringside for the Cobain v Dekker fight...it was the most awesome KO i have ever seen, the whole of lumphinne went silent.
That is amazing, what a fight to have been present at!! Great job!!
I remember seeing the Dekker v Superlex dutch v Thailand bill on tv in Bangkok year of 91...on the public bus the next day even the office girls were talking about this blue eyed blonde haired farang...Thais could not believe it, the contrast and how competitive it was. He battered Super Lec for 5 rounds and lost on points. Dekker got his nose smashed with an elbow and didn't even blink. Super lec was super human though, the punishment he took, makes me wonder what he was on? I started training Muay Thai after that in Koh Samui. There was a poster from the front page of Muay Siam in the gym (the print magazine for all Thai Boxing news). it was Dekker with his arm round Super Lec facing the camera super lec back to the camera in the ring after the fight, it was an Iconic picture and it always gave me inspiration to train when i looked at it. RIP....one of kind! bygone era!
I was living in Koh Samui at that time, i traveled up to Bangkok for the Coban fight. I owned Lamai Gym and setup Muay Thai too...did we train together? I know that picture you are talking about that was Flamingos gym, its gone now it was replaced with bar beers late 90's...that was the good old Samui. I hear now its got traffic like Bangkok.
Hahahaha everyone went silent because they all lost there gambling money... You absolutely saw one of the best fights in history...comparable with Foreman vs Ali or Hagler vs Sugar Ray and all those type of fights...I envy you... I saw many great fights of Ramon live but not his greatest ,you did!
amazing. awesome fight to have witnessed
Respect from chile ...A real champion and a great simple man
shock to know that my first legend in Kickboxing was die. Rest in peace jong of netherland......respect from Indonesia...

Met him here in Thailand 3 months before he died. Drove him around. Always chose to sit way in the back of the car. What a marvellous and humble person. Thankful for these days. Inspirational.

As I've not followed kickboxing, I'd never heard of Ramon Dekkers, but watching his fights in replay was an unforgettable experience.
Surely one of the greatest fighters I've ever witnessed.

Hey, not a problem, I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed it! It was my pleasure making it!
Worthwhile documentary. Great job! Cor's really opened up to you, too. I agree, there is a greater story that needs to be told; whether in-depth documentary, movie and/or book.
I first discovered Ramon Dekkers a few years ago while watching a video with Bas Rutten. Rutten spoke reverentially of Dekker and his influence. Years later, I still return to watch Dekker fight/training videos. Sheesh! The power this Cat could generate was awe-inspiring! And that's just watching a video. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be ringside for a Dekker bout and witness the power firsthand. Or, be Dekker's opponent, and be on the receiving end of his merciless skills.
Reverence continues from Vancouver, Canada.
Beautiful documentary , thank you for this, as an amateur kickboxer from Manchester England this was really special.
So much respect. All the blessings for you Ramon and family.
This is an Amazing Tribute to a true legend. He fought in epic battles against great fighters and is an inspiration to many. Thank you Ramon Dekkers.
very compliment to who made this documentary....very special. thanks and respect from Ireland. Angelo.
This is great. More than just an showcase of his performance, but an insight in to the life that went with it. It’s an important part of fighting sport’s history and should be remembered
Ramon Dekkers was, and will always be, a huge inspiration for me, i had been studying bjj for several years when i came across him, he is the reason i progressed into kickboxing and then onto mma, i was just in awe of this guy, as formidable and powerful as a lion, yet so incredibly humble and kind, without doubt the greatest kickboxer who ever lived, what an amazing film his life would make, i was incredibly saddened when he passed away and i must admit i had a huge lump in my throat throughout watching this, i thank you greatly for making this wonderful documentary... Legends never die.
Chris agreed
He was the meanest and baddest Muay Thai and Kickboxer of any weight class. I remember watching him fight like 10 years ago and I was like dam, he was so good, tough and scary. He look like freaking Terminator in the ring.
He hits so hard, he's aggressive, fast, with great boxing skill as well and he throw crazy amount of combination at his opponents and just overwhelm them. He is just one scary dude but then I seen his seminar videos he was such funny, nice and friendly person. R.I.P Champ.

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR .. RIP CHAMPION FOREVER❤
im from columbus ohio in the united states and i first found Ramon Dekkers old fights on youtube in 2008. Ramon and Anderson Silva were the reasons I started training muay thai to the day ramon is still my favorite thai fighter i loved how he would just keep coming forward toward his opponent shifting his weight from side to side with each step so he could throw any strike with max power he is one of my all time heroes and always will be
Ramon inspired me to take up the challenge of learning Muay Thai almost 20yrs ago. I came across one of his videos (set to eminem), and was just totally enthralled by it. I became a Kru after about 12 years of training and have had the amazing fortune to have this beautiful art be part of my life.
Thank you for sharing!
6:21 it’s amazing that this man describes Ramon’s philosophy of fighting and it sounds just like how Manny Pacquio describes his own thoughts on fighting “just doing my job, nothing personal.” It struck me because the man had a hard time searching for the word “personal,” instead finally settling for the word “Private,” which describes them both very well.
Total humility as a sportsman. Obviously with a bloke like this at his side he was going to be successful. The family that plays together, stays together. Awesome doco. Thank you. Kia Kaha Ramon.
