I hope and pray that the Choo Choo Barn continues to be successful moving forward. We lost Roadside America in Shartlesville PA in 2020 ,it is great loss to the hobby.
I have a picture of my father, me and my brothers standing next to the outdoor train circa 1971. I have taken my kids there in the past. I can’t wait to get there again soon. That area of Lancaster county has always been my happy place.
Been coming here for years and later took my kids here too. I do hope and pray that this attraction keeps alive and well for many years to come!! Its worth the time to see and enjoy it
I need to revisit the Choo Choo Barn. I was there 20 years ago when my children were young. I did buy a Choo Choo Barn Christmas Ornament back then that I put on my Christmas Tree every year. The animations are fantastic. Brings back very fond memories when I was there with my 3 sons.
I am surprised that I have not seen this before . I watch all kinds of train layout vids . This one is awesome ! Love all the animation . Thnx for showing .
Neat behind the scenes look! I went there 40 years ago with my parents as a boy, got back last year on a trip through and stopped - was as great as I remembered!!
I remember first seeing the Choo Choo Barn on the TM films and the All About Fast Trains VHS. It's nice to know it's still going strong after all these years! The design of the drums are similar to those used on commercial dishwashers for determining what turns on/off at what time during the cycle.
A very nice video. My maternal grandmother lived out in Lancaster County, and occasionally, we'd either go into the Choo Choo Barn or Thomas' Trackside Station in the Traintown shops when we visited her; we more frequently ate at the deli there. I credit the Strasburg Railroad, and that little blue tank engine, with instilling a deep passion for trains and railroads within me.
Hi Chris, thank you soooooo muuuch for sharing this very cool video with me/us, this place sure looks like it’s very amazing and hope one day or three we’ll be able to get there, not only for the Choo Choo barn but all of the cool things they have there. Thanks again, Ron
I'd really love to work with this, but maybe I'm about 15 years to late. I'm 59 now and have no physical problems but age is a factor to consider. As for the barrel type program for the fire and fire truck scene. I made a similar thing back in the 1990's to control two main line train tracks, 3 sidings, with 6 switches and five trains rotating through the whole track set up with each train having it's turn on the main lines for several laps. My timing wheel, as I call it, had all of the different power and switching and activation contacts right on the barrel put on by hand, programming, using aluminium sheet and copper or brass plated nails and copper wire. Feeler contacts were made out of steal strapping or aluminium cans with the coating sanded for good contact. Lionel and K-line 0 gauge trains. I'm in the process of getting a much smaller room in my own house set up with trains. not sure if I have the room or want to have the similar set up but i still have the timing wheel if I choose to use it. Over the years having to move and learning about other things and also learning some electronic repairs on my own, with some of my dad's help and computers and auto repairs as well and sound systems, I left the model trains go to the side. However as of the past two years I might have enough trains to open a hobby shop. I was saddened to find that the Road Side American was gone before I knew it was gone. You can find me on F B same name....
I am surprised she is not using the Lionel Legacy System to control her Layout. Also do they use MTH Real Trax, the track and switches does not look like Lionel Fast Track. My brother visited the Choo Choo Barn in 1991. I have the Choo Choo Barn Christmas Car from that year and it is part of the Christmas Layout.
Great job on this video. We have been doing business with them for years. I miss Christie's father. He helped me out on some of my projects and would post in our group and on OGR with his projects. I have one of the animated scenes he made for me a lady gang clothes on close line.
So Sorry you 4 had to cancel your event at Stockyard Express. Was so looking forward to meeting you....only 40 min. from my house. Hope you can work something out!!!
Nice video, been there several times. It seems no matter where, how big or small these trail layouts are, Im always unhappy with the locomotives and freight cars they are running during the video.
I wanted to watch the whole video, however, I had to turn it off after about 10 minutes. The reason for that is the video about the layout. Too fast camera movement, up and down with direct views and the glass that reflects movement. Too bad, because the interview is very interesting.
I hope and pray that the Choo Choo Barn continues to be successful moving forward. We lost Roadside America in Shartlesville PA in 2020 ,it is great loss to the hobby.
Yes, it was a shame about Roadside America, but if the family didn't want to keep it up anymore what can you do? Can't make them do it.
thank you so much love going to the choo choo barn ,never seen the inner workings thank you
What a wonderful bit of American life. May they be there for generations to come.
I would love to give my time but I am far away across the sea. Well done for continuing your father's work.
Marvelous to see the Choo Choo Barn is still in existence. I will have to visit them agian.

I have GOT to see this in person!!! This is OUTSTANDING! And I'm not even into 'O' scale!
Been coming here for years and later took my kids here too. I do hope and pray that this attraction keeps alive and well for many years to come!! Its worth the time to see and enjoy it
Haven't been there in YEARS! Such a throwback to my childhood. Thank you for sharing🥰
You’re welcome!
My wife and I have been going to the Choo choo Barn for over 40 years , you never get tired of seeing the layout

I've been there a few times, it's a mind blowing layout.
Great memories from my childhood. I don’t know why I thought they closed but glad they didn’t and thank you for making this.
We have been going there for many years, it never gets old, Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching

I love going there and seeing all the changes. Thankfully I don't live to far away. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Choo Choo Barn! Family visit among the highlights of a vacation in Lancaster County. The barn raising scene is amazing. Thanks, Chris!
Always love going there. Enjoy the fire scene and Dutch Wonderland

Always a tradition of mine to visit the barn. I’ve only met Tom once.
They do such an amazing job with the upkeep. The scenery always looks like it’s brand new freshly added!
Been there many times over many years. PA RR Museum is down the road as is the Strasburg RR. I also have purchased a lot from the Train Store.
Wow Chris, amazing video. Incredible layout. Must put this on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your visit!
Thanks. Great place.
Really great that you got an interview with one of the owners.
I just did a video of the location as well, but no where near as interesting.
Great setup at the barn. Loved the day to night transition.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great interview Chris. And such a great act to help support such an important legacy in the hobby.
Wow! That a lot of work.
Awesome video of the display!
That was a amazing Behind the scenes video dude, you should do videos like this more often

Harry - that’s awesome that you have one of Tom’s animations. I wish I had been this deep in the hobby when he was still with us.

When you guys stop in ohio next weekend check out corner field model railroad museum in Middlefield Ohio you'll be amazed!!
I would Love to See that layout Live how Often do you Switch out for Different Engines?
Not that often. The way it's set up and operates they use Williams engines so they only have a few to swap out for maintenance.
New sub! Liked 🙏✌️😀
Awesome thank you!

Yo I'm the first person here and the first to comment
