I’m already in student loan debt but I still don’t have a degree smh 🤦🏾♀️ I’m trying go back and at least finish. I’m trying figure out what is the max for student loans ?
See that’s the tricky part. So I’ll tell you what my situation was an maybe you can figure yours out. So I already had a bachelors, and you know when you get a degree you already have the pell grant applied. So when I got in for my associates in hygiene I couldn’t get the pell grant anymore and had to apply for student loans. I doubt the gov will say no just because the gov love when you owe them money lol. Definitely call the school(s) you’re interested in so you can get info on FASFA and look into minority scholarship
I am waiting to get accepted into your exact dental hygiene school. There’s one girl I think she’s in your class and she was being super negative on my TikTok saying really not nice things about the school and just being super shady! I’ve been watching your videos for a hot minute. I love it.💗💗
Oh no!! I hate that you’re having some negativity, I hope that they apologize to you, whoever it is!! I’m excited for you!! The Birmingham location was like a family!! I really did enjoy my journey there and I hope you do the same!! And thank you for all your love and support sis! Best wishes!! 💜🦷
Did you have a ready reference for clinic? If so, could you make a video or even upload some files from your ready reference. I start seeing patients this month and I wanna get every information I could get for my ready reference.
It has changed since I applied. If I’m not mistaken there are two tests that are required now. A basic standardized times test and then the wonderlic test. After you pass they require you to have shadowing hours with a RDH and an in person interview
Hi! My wife is waiting to hear back on whether she got in or not. She had her interview roughly 1 1/2 weeks ago and they said making it to the interview is a good sign! I know they use a point system (at least at the Landover location) do you know roughly how many points is good for the application process? Thank you so much!
@@JessiecaB Yes it is! It’s a Fortis College DH program. She already had her interview and is just waiting to hear back. They use a points process to determine who gets in based on certain criteria I guess? (GPA, work experience, etc). I wasn’t sure if there was like a good range to be in since there is hardly any information out there. Aside from your videos of course (which are super informative!)
@@davidbrown8515 hi! Was she able to get in? I also applied. How long did it take for her to hear something back and to get an interview? I just finished the tests and turned in my essay packet. Now I’m waiting.
How do u know if your suppose to be a hygienist I applied to college and I want to be successful also school always been hard for me I applied for Cuyahoga community college and I just want to succeed I’m 27 I have two children and I also take care my mother and I work about 25 hours a week for dietary aide I just feel not accomplished I been in the food industry for awhile I also feel like it’s not getting me anywhere
I know the shear want for more or to level up is what is going to take you to the next level. For me, dental hygiene is not my passion but it is something that I truly love to do. Taking care of patients, educating them on their oral health. That’s what I love and appreciate. I think no matter what job you decide to study and partake in, you have to have something that you truly love and enjoy. If it’s dental hygiene, nursing, radiology etc. It needs to be something you can do that you love. My classmates took care of their kids and had jobs all while being in school. One in particular failed many classes but her drive and passion/love is what kept her going and she is loving what she does. You know if you want to be a dental hygienist if it’s what you love, something you get excited talking about and you’re itching to do. No matter if you go to school for those 2 years now, you’ll be 29 whether you are in school or not so you might as well apply and become who you want to become! Make yourself, your kids and mom proud! 💜💜💜
I hope you know that 27 is still young, I delayed school because I thought I was old for it until I realized it never to late. Going to hygiene school requires to quit your day job but it's only 2 years of sacrifice to live a better life for you and your family
So I’m thinking about going to fortis hygiene program but I know a lot of dental clinics do not prefer students who graduated from fortis. Any suggestions on life after fortis
That’s the first I’m hearing of this! I had no issues with offices reaching out and Vice versa. All they truly care about is if you graduated from an accredited school. And passed both of your boards. The rest doesn’t matter trust me!! Just focus on what you know, you are certified, registered and you have the skills necessary to do the job that they ask of you. No worries I promise you’ll be just fine sis! 💜🦷
@@tamaranaomi3 Hii what are all the test/exams that you have to take to apply to fortis if you don’t mind sharing :) I’m a high school senior and I want to be prepared early before i’m ready to apply.
So the exam that you’re required to take to enter into the program is based upon Prior knowledge? Also, are there any prerequisites courses that you must take prior to applying?
Prior knowledge? Mmm it’s prior knowledge from high school, like a standardized test. I believe the new exam for fortis is the WONDERLIC and not the HESI Yes and no. I had some prerequisites that transferred from college and some I had to take like microbiological, organic Chem ect.
Ok, I have an important question! Is there English 101,math 100 , speech and biology?? in the program??? 😂I know it has be because it’s 2 whole years long.
Hey!! There is a little math on the entrance exams. They’re a standardized test, I recommend getting a study book. It helped tremendously!! I hope you do choose hygiene, it’s a wonderful career
Thank you for watching!! Make sure you like and subscribe for more!!
If you have a private question Dm me on Instagram @_jostic

Do you have any recommendations on finding funding for school? Fortis in particular or did you have to pay the remaining balance out of pocket?
I had to pay partially out of pocket and the rest via student loans
Can you work full time while in the program?
Yes you can work full time, it’s a challenge but possible

Were loupes included in the program?
