    Disclaimer: Don't try this with soviet made tanks as this tactic will not work for them! 😂 I hope you find this video helpful!

      I believe we all know why.

      They really need to upgrade the gerbils that power their reverse gear

    • @oracuda
      @oracuda ปีที่แล้ว

      jockeying requires literally a few meters of movement, soviet tank reverse speed is less ideal, but more than adequate.

    • @ARescueToaster
      @ARescueToaster ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@oracuda I don't think that qualifies as jockeying.. If you only ultimately move a few meters over, you'll still easily be picked up by your enemies who had you dialed in.
      Moving laterally a good distance breaks that, and can even have the enemy perceive you as a new threat rather than just a relocated threat.
      A T-72 simply cannot replicate what's being demonstrated here

    • @oracuda
      @oracuda ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ARescueToaster no, you can back up a few meters, then turn and use forward gear. jockeying is ww2 era stuff, it'll just take longer.

    Im a brad crewman and we learned a little bit about this tactic, however since obv a Bradley and an Abrams do not compare, we really never trained much on it.
    Some things we learned tho, this tactic is really effective on stationary targets, IE other hull down tanks, buildings, AT posts, etc. However against actively mobile targets its not as effective, due to the reason when you pop back out, it takes you just as much time for the enemy gunner to find where to rotate the gun to get on target as you, the reason from what im seeing on why it works so well in GHPC is because the AI in the game are definitely not as experienced as a real player would be, and the fact Abrams vs T72M is not even a remotely fair engagement and they were charging at you in an open field.

    GHPC makes me miss my “Cadillacs” (Gunner’s power control handles by the Cadillac Gage Co.) brow and chest pads….basically wedged into my gunner’s station. Nothing beats being able to have the perfect sight picture every time, especially the long shots when you and your target are both moving.

    That's pretty funny. I was struggling with Silver Dart yesterday, and while I did eventually win, it was way more difficult than it should have been.
    And today you post a tactics video and did a demo test on Silver Dart, lmao, thanks for the help I guess.

    Definitely points out what I keep doing wrong and getting my but nailed every time I try this one. I am too slow getting a bead on a target, and once I start hitting them I hang around too long. I stay in gunner view way too long and get snuck up on. I have jockeyed some, but my main mistakes void any advantage I gained by jockeying.
    I got a lot of practicing to do.
    Thank you for making this video!

    Ah! I'm used to firing and then reversing out of sight, but the sideways shuffle is the missing piece.
    Seems obvious when you know: don't repeek the same spot.

    Very cool! I think this is a great skill along with reversing between each shot to safely reload. And I suspect both of those likely reinforce / build off of each other. I never knew it was called jockeying / berming - I always referred to it as "shoot 'n scoot"

    • @PhanPhantasy
      @PhanPhantasy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely! Remembering to move / jockeying when you can safely do so is a good way of breaking the habit of being tunnel vision to a target and to have better situation awareness.

    What are some recommended missions for a little bit of a slower mission or one that lets me go on the attack?
    I started up the mission Silver Dart because it says “You’ve got two M1’s and there’s a BRDM recon section and some dismounts to your front.”
    So I was like, “Cool…I can see from the map where they are suspected to be so I’ll plan my route, use the terrain, and maneuver up there to attack.”
    NOPE! Immediately get bum-rushed by about 6 or 8 T-72’s.
    I need something more than the gunnery range but don’t feel like taking on a couple of Russian tank companies with by myself and one other AI dude.

      Silver Dart can be very challenging if you're not careful watching your flanks and hills, which will result on a close knife fight. If you're looking for NATO attack missions, there's a few on top of my mind.
      Keen Kestrel - You start off as an M1 platoon tasked with clearing out an area and to capture an objective. The enemies won't advance except for a counter attack once you take the objective
      Kingly Kayak and Lethargic Liberty - Both are M60A1 missions, in both missions you will need to capture an objective and support other elements on the field. In Kingly Kayak, the enemy is also attacking an objective. If I remember correctly, the terrain is perfect for hull down and flanking. If you're interested, I should have gameplay on these missions somewhere on my channel.
      Casual Clean Up - M60A3 mission, pretty simple attack mission. North Fields map in general is a terrain for tanks.
      Ridge Raid - Another M60A3 mission, with M113s. Be mindful of ATGMs that are deadly.
      Combat Team - M1 Abrams Platoon. You'll start off engaging tanks that are hull down on the other ridgeline but you'll be accompanied with M2 Bradley's. It's a valley so there's not too much cover as you push. You'll need to be careful as you advance to the objective.
      You can also try doing the campaign as NATO and go on the attack. It's much slower and the objectives are bit further away. In Instant action mode of GHPC, the missions are designed to put you into the action by having the objectives much closer. I hope this helps! :)

      @@PhanPhantasy it helps tremendously. I really appreciate it. Those sound like a lot of great options to help me push into the mix whenever I’m ready to do that but also give me the opportunity to use the map and maneuver a little bit while on the attack.

    Israeli gunner here.
    In the Israeli armour corps, this is called improvements.
    It can be a V shaped, u shaped or a 4 shaped (back, left, back, right, halt, forward). Every improvement has it's own pros and cons like: speed, probability of flipping, length of the hill and the TC and Driver preference.

    Literally works in every game that have tanks be that tank sim, a more casual tank sim or any combined arms warfare game.

      @@PhanPhantasy You shouldn't be too afraid of giving good RTS a go ;)
      I am sure nobody will hate you for a run at the Broken Arrow demo if you make sure to know how to play it properly first (because this is what is missing the most out there - people who understand what they're playing, or more like, how to play it!)

    Just wanted to note, that what is a "tactical" maneuver in real life is commonly used in every one of those F2P games about tanks (War Thunder/World of Tanks) by kids who have never heard of this "tactical" maneuver before. Why? Well, thats the only thing one can do in a tank. Whats more, the kids playing these games have come to a conclusion real life tankers never would - the only thing that protects you in a tank is the gun and mobility. Not armor. If you can be penetrated somewhere - your armor doesnt protect you. There are exceptions, of course, but you wont find these in post (second world) war tanks.
