I think that the biggest problem of Ganyu is that doesn't exist a cryo-dendro reaction, the only option is melt on burning but we don't have a good pyro off-field applicator, the only one is dehya but has too much downtime and need nahida that is better in other teams... Maybe with the pyro archon but is too much time in the future
Ganyu is still strong compared to other DPS characters. The problem with her is that she became a bit difficult and clunky to use, if we consider that many of the new enemies are literally built to stagger you and be annoying all the time. So I wouldn't say she is a top pick anymore, but is still a strong character.
yeah, tho i had her since 3.0, i would go for melt team so she can hit enemies hard but couldn't cuz i didn't have xiangling built (still dont- T-T) which is the issue and i already cant even complete the spiral abyss but i think if i have ganyu in melt team, i think i can finally beat it. i have good characters but need better crit sadly...
She's very versatile. If you don't like her charged shot gameplay, try putting her on a noblesse/emblem set and use her as a burst bot. I love her in daily commissions, especially the ones where you destroy the towers.
ganyu + ayato = frozen lily garden , gameplay aside it is so satisfying and beautiful and with venti / kazuha + any dendro/electro it will be so amazing lol
When I got her, I didn’t know how to shoot so I used her a a burst bot! It made sure I didn’t get sick with her charge shot and I learned how to dodge since then! Now I can’t stop playing her!
On a side note, Layla can add a lot of value to Ganyu teams due to her absurd shield strength, the cryo resonance and the extra cryo app she gives (and allowing you to avoid playing circle impact with Diona)
to clarify, this is only meant for Ganyu freeze teams, correct? I have been very hesitant on building Layla for my Ganyu melt team because I was afraid her little icicles that shoot out from her shield would mess with the melt reaction.
Cryo resonance is useless on melt teams and Layla can steal your melts if you aren't careful. She's OK as a defensive option on freeze teams, but usually you don't need a shield on freeze teams anyway. However if you have Layla on a mono cryo teams with Ganyu/Shenhe/Kazuha, Layla C6 gets a 40% damage bonus on all her skill and burst hits so she can leverage Shenhe quills really well while giving you a shield for Ganyu to charge shot spam. Of course if you want to do good damage you need a crit build which means a somewhat weaker shield. R5 Harbinger of Dawn is perfect for Layla in this role. I run noblesse fav Shenhe, VV fav Kazuha, ToTM HoD Layla, and Strayer Amos Ganyu.
is there a good ganyu kazuha melt rotation with layla? Layla's shield doesnt last as long as zhongli's so using her shield at the start of the rotation isnt viable.
@@leelee1782 don't build layla for melt, the cryo app sucks and 12sec shield duration is awkward. layla for freeze/mono cryo ganyu, c4 yanfei or diona for melt.
Zy0x is just repeating garbage take from Zajef that Ganyu's team is 'garbage' for Wenut... While it's possible to solo it with c0r1 Ganyu, LOL. She is one of the best picks for it. Also in general this video is nonsense, completely missing that majority of Ganyu's value is coming from her flexibility, mainly - in switching between on-field and off-field dps, great AoE with 100% uptime and range. She is great for many teams and situations. Even in burn melt you can switch to Ganyu off-field and just keep triggering burning with Nahida and Kazuha. Let's not forget that off-fielder is always MORE valuable than on-fielder. Ganyu is TOP unit, while this video is just terribly narrow-minded.
@@よしみ-x5j Zy0x already stated Ganyu's flexibility but he also made a point that it doesn't matter because xiangling and bennett are better used for Raiden National and International as those teams deal better damage and more comfortable to play than melt Ganyu. Also Hyperbloom/Aggravate are better than melt ganyu. Solo capabilities are meaningless as almost no one plays the abyss with just 1 character, even the fastest abyss speedruns you see have 4 characters. The guy you were mentioning that soloed wenut with Ganyu is a tryhard that resets the abyss 10+ hrs to get the perfect run just to flex, majority of the people doesn't have time for that. And for freeze, well, Ayaka will always be a better pick (and is usually picked rather than Ganyu) as she has higher damage ceiling than ganyu w/o melt.

That's zy0x's point, just because she's flexible and can fulfill different roles doesn't mean she's valuable, as there's characters designed for those roles that performs better than Ganyu. Also against wenut, Ganyu teams have low full star clearance rate in akashadata compared to Ayaka Freeze, Rational, and Aggravate teams last 3.5 at whopping +90% vs wenut, with ganyu comps the highest full star rate is 70% against wenut, so while Ganyu does clear, other teams can perform better.
Also i think people really ignore ganyu's versatility in this game. When she was first released everyone thought she was going to be a support character. She has an insane aoe which buffs all your teams cryo damage by 20%, and has a taunt which disengages you aswell as applies two bursts of cryo.
ehh I mean, the cryo damage is nice but I wouldn't exactly call it "insane," and the taunt is basically useless to be completely honest. She's still very good as a 2nd cryo for lets say ayaka, but that's equally because of her damage as her buffs.

Ganyu's value is that she's a ranged DPS in a Spiral meta that seems to be throwing flying Wolflords and Wenuts that are completely unhittable by Melee units in certain phases. If you play Burn Melt Ganyu with Nahida, Ganyu can melt her charge shots from any distance. The only downside with Nahida Melt Ganyu is that you don't really want Zhongli as your shielder because his pillars can crystallize off your burning and throw off your Nahida trikarma timing which could make you drop Burning. If you play at a distance where his pillars won't affect this, then you may not be getting Zhongli's res shred, and if you're too close then his pillars can ruin your burning. I recommend c4 Yanfei as the shield option in this team since in a pinch Yanfei can also reignite Burning from a distance if you accidentally drop it.
a little bit correction. Zhongli res shred is from his shield not from his pillar, so its not that much of an issue. I always start shielding far away from where i want to fight, then just proceed the fight somewhere far away from the pillar. Althought using c4 Yanfei as a shielder for Meltnyu is an interesting idea, might give it a try later. Thanks !
Fun fact, Ganyu at low Constellation can solo Abyss full stars (depending on the enemies) provided you play on PC, have very good ping and you have the skill to do it. I think a TH-camrs consistently uploading Solo Ganyu against the newest Abyss whenever he can. Also, I beat Weenut using Ayaka-Ganyu-Kokomi-Kazuha. Ganyu surprisingly great sub-DPS and her Burst can buff Ayaka Cryo damage.
Maybe irrelevant as of now but Ganyu can be pretty good against the Wenut. I cleaned it with freeze Ganyu while using Venti instead of Kazuha (basically Morgana) and i still had more than 20s left on the timer. That’s without using any 5* weapons on any of the characters. Edit: i guess i didn’t actually say what make Ganyu “good” in what i typed… basically it’s because she can chip damage him very well due to her energy-less cooldown-less high scaling charge shots.
Chip damage is part of it, but also the Wenut is so huge that it takes like 2-3 times more damage from her Burst. The damage is as if you were using her in AoE.
Ganyu is really nice for dealing with overworld really fast, her Charged Shot is her main dmg, has no energy/cd, has long range, can be forcibly targeted, and a large aoe. She's also cryo so she has Freeze for dealing with mobs that move too much and Melt for more dmg. Pair her with Zhongli and she's basically a modern tank.
I never understood this claim. Yelan and Scara zoom so fast they are much better Imo. You gotta pick up that chest and loot don’t forget. And their dps is more then enough because well…open world enemies. By the time ganyu is doing charging a shot Yelan already ran over there and one tapped the mobs
@@wilburforce8046 They still have much more cds than Ganyu and have limits with their range. Wanderer less so but he's still under the mercy of auto aim. Yelan has the aoe charged shot but that isn't where her dmg is. They slightly struggle with enemies on towers and flying enemies, unless you use their burst but great now you also have to go and get energy. Ganyu's fully targeted aoe can surpass anything but shields and the katana block. She can hit what you want, where you want, when you want without dashing into the enemy's face to force the targeting system to choose them. She also has easy access to Freeze AND Melt so you can decide to Freeze the flying little buggers or just Melt the machines which tend to not be able to be onehshot unless you use a burst. I'm not saying she's the absolute best, Wanderer or maybe Ayaka probably has the best balance between dmg and mobility, I know I switched to her when travelling through Inazuma but again, with how many puzzles need you to hit specific things, how many flying stuff there is, how hidden some enemies are, and how sometimes you don't want to think just shoot and be on with it, Ganyu's Powerful Targeted AoE is REALLY good for dealing with overworld's many annoyances.

And you aren’t fighting enemies on towers most of the time. (Also they are hillichurls so like go sneeze on them with one arrow from anyone) As someone who’s been grinding 100% regions since launch never once have I used my ganyu after her initial release (who is well built btw) Trust me she’s slower.
consistent dmg = no dmg burst period, so the buff she receive matters less since they take over her field time. Overworld she has a lot of competitors, Yelan or Wanderer, or even Keqing with Nahida.

You’re fucking lying 😭 when it comes to killing literally anything that isn’t immune to cryo, over half the time I don’t even bother to go up to them, I just aim and hit my shots and their dead. Not to mention other than she takes relatively low investment compared to Yelan and Wanderer. Those two are both VERY picky with their artifacts while she’s good with the majority of dps artifacts. Can literally stick a 4 pc glad on her and clear the game. It’s also VERY weird to cry “she’s too clunky” but you’re advocating for WANDERER of all characters 💀plus her play style is simply faster. Also both Yelan and Wanderer rely too much on their E/Q. Ganyu being a character where 90% of her damage requires no use for E/Q will always make her more probable.
You can play Ganyu in dendro teams like Hyperbloom too (Ganyu being Burst Support). I think this teams are so meta right know! They are called "HyperFridge" if someone want to search for it.
That's essentially what I'm running with keqing (sac sword, 1st 5 star lost on nahida 75 pulls), Nahida (2nd 5 star, 75 pulls), Barbara (no other hydro), Ganyu (3rd, 76-77 pulls, won 50/50). Still leveling Ganyu to rank 5 as well as saving materials for rank 6. Now if Arts didn't weren't utter crap.
I don’t think Ganyu fell out of meta, but her meta team(s) have changed and have become more restrictive. Overall she Is weaker but still in the same range of power as before
Melt Ganyu (+ Xiangling, Bennet) with Zhongli shield is still one of my favorite teams to play. It's very comfy and reliable in most situations. In my opinion her strengths are still about the same as they were in the beginning (even with freeze setup being countered by more enemies in general), there are just way more options that are equally attractive nowadays.
Thank you Mr. Zy0nix for using xiangling's pyronado Displaying her mastery over both fire and polearms, Xiangling sends a Pyronado whirling around her. The Pyronado will move with your character for the ability's duration, dealing Pyro DMG to all opponents in its path. Truly one of the strimmer of all time i love him gayge

Same, I have plenty of bow characters including Tighnari, but Ganyu's gameplay is just so fun and she's super versatile. I also want a good cryo character since I dislike Ayaka
I still use her. She's one of my more invested characters along with my Hu Tao (both of them C2). Helped me in abyss alot, and she also helps in daily commissions.
She is still a beast. Tried her in the current abyss just right after the abyss refresh, and she dominated it together with Benny, Xiangling and Zhongli. Btw, she’s c0 w/o amos. she dominated all the 1st chambers. I tried aggravate keqing w/ jade cutter, Vaporize Ayato (which worked as well but less smoother rotations), heck even my hyperbloom kuki didn’t work. It’ll always boil down on your preferred playstyle, but ganyu will always be consistent.

I just love listening to Zy0nix (a streamer) talking about the Consecrated Beasts on his TH-cam channel while I remember him explaining on his Twitter how he enjoys being played with by them.
Recently I've been enjoying playing her in Ganyu/Shenhe/Layla/Kazuha team mostly as a burst bot, but also occasionally filling my random ass rotations with one or two charged attacks. I think her A4 passive is greatly underrated and most people have probably totally forgotten that she has a 100% uptime on a 20% cryo damage buff for your active character. Pair that with Shenhe and an anemo support and you can even turn Diona's hold E into a nuke with the buffs.
Why do i have this deja vu every single time Ganyu's banner comes out? 😅 She has good and bad matchups, but her teams and numbers are still crazy strong. She just has more competitions now. There's also the gameplay aspect. Not everyone is going to like her gameplay and other units will probably be better suited for you, but that doesn't make her weaker by any means. Also, sidenote, all non-dendro reactions are technically weaker now, since all recent abyss rotations have been balanced around those. With the exception of Raiden national of course, lol
Thank you!, is really not too hard to understand, the fact that is more characters now dosen't make her worse at all, she is really strong anyway, if someone don't like her gameplay is fine, just don't go over there saying that she is bad just for that 😅. She is the most versatile cryo character and one of the best DPS in the game anyway P.S: Ganyu is the only cryo character that works really good with dendro thanks to Nahida and their burning melt comp 😄
I main Ganyu since 1.2. I roam teyvat w/ her and she carried my 36 star abyss. My reverse melt and Freeze comp for her is almost perfect. I just love her playstyle so much.
i think one underrated part of ganyu is that shes pretty useful for the overworld as she deals with everything that isnt abyss and has special mechanics just fine solo without supports. i guess there are other characters that can fulfill the same role but in the end u can use whatever and still beat everything as long as uk what yr doing so just do what u want
exactly! an amazing early carry that allows you to deal with any threat that isnt a cryo enemy that stays relavent even to endgame overworld. The people who complain about how mid ganyu is are all endgame players who are focusing on abyss or speed clearing domains
She fell off in the sense that she's no longer the definitive best DPS. Now she's simply one of the good options. She's kind of in the same situation as Ayato but as a carry. She's usually never the BIS for an archetype, but contributes to a high performing team in many. One mistake this video highlights though is the "don't use Ganyu's burst in melt" mistake. You should always use her burst if it's up. In ST, you use her burst first, and put Xiangling's skill up before she retakes the field. In AOE, you snapshot Bennet's buff on her burst and effectively do large AOE damage. This is no doubt, part of why she's underrated, because people are missing out on free damage and buffs from her own kit. You use Melt Ganyu as the general option, being in between Rational and International. Better for bosses than international, while not ungrouping enemies in AOE like Rational does. If Grouping is highly desirable, you run either Ganyu freeze or mono cryo. If you want a low investment team comp, you run the fridge comp variants.
Doubt Xiangling alone will consistently provide enough pyro for reliable reverse melts on the charge, but even if not there's still Sunfire which definitely applies enough
@@Ayzev If her burst is used first, you'll typically only get stolen melts if you spam her skill off of cooldown. Gouba has no ICD, so he helps a lot. Charge shot 3 or 4 is typically when you'd use the skill again. For AOE, having 2 snapshotted high AOE damage bursts are the most important, and forward melting Xiangling's burst isn't exactly heartbreaking in AOE. You can somewhat avoid the stolen melts if you alternate the targets of your charge shots or just hit the ground.
@@desolatorstorm142 Hitting the ground would lose 42% of the charged shot's damage. Not sure if the burst's damage would make up for it. Certainly wouldn't be much of a gain in single target damage, if one at all, which is the main point of melt over freeze/monocryo
As somebody whos been playing Ganyu in one of their main teams (im running her in the permafreeze comp with mona, venti and diona) for a while now i can 100% agree with what you are saying. Id say if the content im playing hits her and ventis niche i.e. a huge amount of displaceable and freezable enemies its my strongest team but whenever i see a duo of ruingraders id rather pick my beidou and for unfreezable bosses i rarely even consider her. Also another weakness ive encountered while playing her is that i feel like she struggles if theres only very short burst dps windows like you often have with hypostases. The dps phases are often only long enough to get a single charge shot out (the full charge time for the flower is just soooooo loooong) and unless you plan ahead well and dont get hecced by rng you dont have time for the rather lengthy setup with all 3 q+e of the other characters.
Ganyu is the reason I’m 36 starring Abyss. I remember when people called the scalings on her charged shots broken when she released, and they’re still good now. She never “Fell off”, there are just more options of characters available to people that are more engaging or even match or slightly beat her damage that happen to be fun to play
Ganyu is incredibly underrated by the META community AND casuals alike. The META community greatly underrate her Melt playstyle, especially at high vertical investment, and casuals don't like her because her CA can be slow and annoying to use without freeze or Zhongli/Diano/Dehya. Because of that, I think that she was once overrated, but now she is incredibly underrated and underappreciated. And that's why Imma get closer to her C6 next banner coz she's 1 Million% best girl 🔥
The *actual* meta players like zajef and zyox very fairly rate her lmao. She's not nearly overpowered. She's not bad but she's not op. She's just a good character. Which is in an opinion shared by most of the "META COMMUNITY". Which is completely fair. Vertical investment really doesn't particularly matter *that much* and only matters for speedrunning purposes in which case ayaka kekw. With high vertical investment a character like hu tao becomes insanely good but is generally looked at as lower simply because high investment is not a level of investment most people would even want to have

Zhongli Melt Ganyu EASILY clears every single F12 chamber this abyss except 12-3-1 and that's only because it has an electro check. His Bennett circle thing for 12-1 is true for EVERY Bennett team apart from maybe sucrose/Kazuha national team. Also, practically every team struggles to clear the beasts except maybe teams like freeze or shield teams, which Ganyu can be a part of BOTH. 2. Most accounts that are >1 year old have a good Wanderer's set lying around. The only thing you need to change is an EM or Atk sands for her Melt/some of her Morgana teams. Even then, for some of her other venti teams, the burst does WAY more than enough dmg where you don't even need to farm for BS. 3. Like I said in point 2, Wanderer's is a common set a lot of players have where getting 60/200 and 200 EM is not super hard for Ganyu. He even mentioned how good Hamayumi and Prototype crescent are for Ganyu. 5 star weapons are not really necessary to clear the abyss with her comfortably. 4. This is the only sorta viable take? Except that most hypercarries need those expensive supports to work optimally lmao. XL/Bennett/XQ/Kazuha is important for Raiden to work well in her hyper/rational teams, and subsequently Nahida and Yelan for hyperbloom, Xiao needs Zhongli, Succ and Bennett, Hu Tao needs either Zhongli or XQ/Yelan/XL or Kazuha/XQ for VV vape and to a lesser extent, someone like Cyno needs XQ and Kuki, and potentially Nahida too. I get that there are lesser 4 star replacements for them (except for Raiden), but those are also quite expensive supports like Fischl in Xiao, or Sucrose in Hu Tao, and DMC/Yaoyao/Baizhu for Cyno They also underrate Ganyu Melt teams as being mid or wtv, which I think a lot of their audience will interpret as not that good. This is very helpful. I'm planning on pulling for Kaveh (hopefully get him to C4 at least) and I was considering pulling for Ganyu. (Ideally, I would like to lose my 50/50 to Tighnari.) I like Baizhu and I mostly run dendro teams, but I think I have more than enough dendro characters already while I lack cryo. I haven't been playing for too long so I don't even have Venti, but I'm planning to pull for him in the future. If I get Ganyu, it'll be an investment. I don't mind her "weaknesses" cause I understand that characters have their own pros and cons. I might bench her for awhile tho. XD
I have Nahida Nilou on my alt account. The upcoming banner doesn't really appeal to me because of Ganyu's reduced versatility (I actually like everything about her, but I also want to have good abyss setup with minimal investment). I could go for Baizhu since it'll make farming my two teams easier, but I would also have far too much Dendro and generating cores everywhere is boring to me....
Yeah, i like ZyOx, but i think this is one if his videos that i most disagree on. Ganyu isn't as bad as this video try to make her look. She have been my main for almost 3 years at this point and she is my best character by far, even when i have all the "better pulls" that he said 😅 P.S: Ganyu isn't depending of Venti at all, don't feel pressure to get him in the future 🤣
Some comments as someone who used Freeze Ganyu in the past two Abyss rotations: IMO the most important requirement to making her work in Freeze is having multiple enemies that you can group (either with an Anemo character or knowing enemy patterns). The +20% CRIT Rate from hitting Frozen enemies (as opposed to enemies affected by Cryo but not Frozen) is important, but grouping an enemy with just one other enemy straight up doubles the damage your Burst does to each. 12-3-2 was tricky until I learned that running far to the left at the start gets the Cryo Maguu Kenki to run towards the others and groups them, so even though they were unfreezable they were still very manageable just from how well Ganyu's Burst scales in AoE. 12-1-2 on the other hand was a massive pain and it's all because of the consecrated tiger deciding to take the scenic route to my location. Even though they're freezable, you lose so much damage if they aren't being hit by double the icicles from being grouped. If you want to use Freeze or Mono Cryo Ganyu in this Abyss, I recommend prioritizing breaking the tiger's energy block to prevent it from jumping around. 12-2-2 as you might expect was a cakewalk. Something funny is that her Burst is actually really good against the Wenut. Since it's so large, it ends up getting hit by like 20-30 icicles as opposed to the 10 you normally get in single target. I did play Melt Ganyu in a few abysses. Felt nice although not _as_ fast something like National, but still quite good. Good option if you need Xingqiu on another team, which can happen a bit more nowadays, and don't have another Hydro applier like Tartaglia available for Xiangling. Also I *hate* it when 17:04 happens to me
I think people also don't usually factor in her quality of life play. In the overworld she's amazing. With her damage coming from CAs she always has uptime. And some commissions are so much easier with her. And killing enemies up on platforms is so much more efficient with her
i've pulled ganyu on her first rerun (idk when that was i just remember her being with zhongli and it being at about when i started playing) bcs i loved her design and just loved her as a character, however, everyone either called me a meta slave or a pervert bcs "you drool over her design" when i just said "idk i like ganyu's story and i kinda resonate with her being always tired and other shit" but regardless i still love her no matter if she's meta or not :D
I C6 her since her first banner Jan 2021, It is the only time that i don't regret whaling in this game. She is everything you need. Open world or Abyss/Single target or Multiple targets/Main dps or Cryo support/Help you with ranged attacks but also you don't need to aim. Not to mention the S tier character design, And Ueda Reina voice. What else you need?
To the new players, don't be afraid to play a characters you want, even of it's Amber. In this game at first months people managed to build Barbara in too a good damager, so what to say about the rest? Yeah, there is stronger and weaker characters, but the thing is that the majority still can complete all genshin conten.
Short answer: Shes good commonly regarded as inferior to ayaka due to often dealing lower damage in a short time, she very much evens it out with extreme versatility and crowd control among other things like lower burst dependency and more and better team options such as a higher affinity with melt also overlooked often is her synergy with mono cryo which is a decent team and sometimes a straight upgrade over freeze against bosses plus one of if not the best overworld onfielder
I love a burning melt Ganyu team with Bennett, Nahida, and Kazuha :) Instead of trying to stay in Bennett's Inspiration Field you replace a lot of the added damage from that with how strong the burning reaction is with Nahida's and Kazuha's high EM. The main downside is that Kazuha's burst doesn't last long, so you would also miss out on the 15% cryo buff from Ganyu's burst.
I feel Ganyu will always have a place in the meta. Even though I don't like using the term "meta" in Genshin considering the only content meant to be taken seriously is Spiral Abyss and that the "meta" is entirely balanced around whether they feel like shilling Venti or not... Even though we now have characters that can keep up with or exceed Ganyu in on-field DPS situations, unlike many of those characters (minus extremely specific and gimmicky moments), Ganyu can still fulfill roles off field, which Zy0x forgot to mention, or at least only briefly touched upon. People tend to forget that Ganyu has very solid cryo application. Her Skill is instant on a fairly average cooldown. If both parts hit (more often than not), then she generates 4 particles 6-10 seconds. And then there is her Burst that has a 60 energy cost and effectively 100% uptime. One of the ascention passives is grating 20% cryu damage bonus while in the field. Considering it's a huge field, that's not a hard thing to fulfill. In the end, she's a Year 1 character and Genshin has at least 4-5 more years under it's sleeve, with more characters being able to accomplish more things. She'll probably be one of the best-aging Year 1 5* units because of the fact that she isn't restricted to on-field only.

@@TheColdestplay We're having this discussion because Ganyu was seen as * the * DPS character for quite a while. Pretty much until Ayaka came out and then that's when people accepted that there was a character that is better than Ganyu in most situations. Every other standard Year 1 5* has aged significantly worse than Ganyu, despite characters like Mona, Jean, and Qiqi being off-field characters (and as expected since they are standard characters after all). Albedo has aged worse than Ganyu (mostly due to no other Geo characters being released since Itto, a whole year ago and Geo reactions being trash). Eula has aged worse than Ganyu. Klee has aged worse than Ganyu to the point where people roll Klee's C2 so she can actually do something off field. Like I said, the video only really talked about Ganyu as a main on-field DPS role and when you have viability off field alongside on-field, you will age better than most.

Ganyu is my favorite character and has been my main since her release. What made me wanna play her was how visually pleasing her abilities are, her character design, and her personality. I also have a thing for archery women/characters - I do love playing her but when it came to abyss, it would always irritate me of how much my block would get knocked off every 5 seconds. If I didn’t have Zhongli, it would be a pain in the ass playing her. And it’s hard because she’s my favorite. - When we started getting units like Hu Tao, Ayaka, and Alhaitham I started to find more enjoyment in them and started playing Ganyu a whole lot less. - I didn’t wanna stop using her or use her less, so I would force myself to play her even when I knew playing a diff character would be more beneficial. - Recently, I’ve been playing Tighnari and he’s such a breath of fresh air compared to Ganyu. I’ll always love Ganyu and still think she’s one of the best Dps characters in the game. But I had to learn it’s okay prefer other units to clear abyss with.
I have Ganyu, but I can't believe I only managed to 9 star Abyss WITHOUT her, and it made me sad since I got her a very long time ago. But damn Raiden-Bennet-Xiangling-Sara and Nahida-Yelan-Xingqiu-Kuki teams are just wayyyy more consistent to use.
A someone who's been here since almost the beginning of Genshin, it's very nostalgic thinking back when most people were saying Ganyu was a must pull. I think Ganyu will always be relevant in the meta regardless of her team limitations and new enemy additions because she's so strong and easy to build. But in all honestly the only reason I've never pulled for her and probably never will; and I may get shot for this lol, is because I find her move set very boring to play. Shooting from afar and seeing big numbers may be fun the first few times but after a while it gets very dull because that's all you need to do since she's so strong. And pulling her just for her to be a burst support would be a huge waste. I just personally want to be more engaged with the characters I pull for in the long term especially if they're a 5*. Which is a pity because I do love her character and visual design, but her kit is just not for me :(
I don't even know the reason why I got her. I just did. And I must say, she has helped me a lot both in the overworld and early Abyss. I don't use her anymore, but I don't regret getting her.
As a non-whale who saved up until got her C6, I don't care if she's no longer meta. Using her is a lot of fun in both Abyss and openworld. She can deal a decent, if not the best, long range damage and still has short range countermeasures, on top of an insanely long and large AOE burst. A lot of new characters are considered meta since Dendro's introduction, but they are not as fun to play as much as my cocogoat.
So one thing to throw out there: There is one specific situation where she goes from absolute bench warmer to star on my account: Golden Wolf Lord in abyss Running Burning Melt Ganyu against him makes this fight soooo much easier. You have 100% uptime on the boss thanks to Nahida's burning lasting forever and you can just keep a relatively high DPS on the boss as he flys around the area, out of reach of the majority of the cast.
I think someone else mentioned it but this would mean that Zhongli would not be very viable here since crystallize would get rid of the aura. And since Wolflord is only one half of the three chambers, having no Zhongli sounds like a pain
Ganyu, and Hu Tao are still extremely strong. To be fair I have both of them at C1 with their signature weapon. I didn't have Nahida until recently and I was still using Melt Ganyu and Hu Tao whenever I felt like I needed the extra damage. I also have never pulled for Venti because I don't like his character or playing around his burst (I have used him when clearing the abyss on a friends account). I have also never liked freeze Ganyu and have almost always played melt.
Melt Ganyu is definitely strong, but still very uncomfortable to play even if you have a 55k HP Zhongli. Every time my shield breaks instantly when standing in Benny's circle because those consecrated beasts and maguu kenkis do reactions on you and amplify their dmg. Also it takes forever to get Xiangling's burst back esp if Fav rng does not proc.
I pulled her long ago cause she’s mobile friendly and great character like Yoimiya which made shielders much more reliable compared to other carry and reactions teams.
As a f2p playing from the game release I'm in a stage in the game where i don't even care about meta coz i have all the necessary characters to 36 star abyss so now I'm happy that i can pull for characters whom i find attractive and enjoy their VA and everything so definitely gonna pull for her
Ok, i have been playing Ganyu since her release and there so many things in this video that doesn't feel right 😅. First, this video emphasize too much that Ganyu's freeze teams work good with Venti and without him are way wrose, and that is 100% not true, Ganyu don't depend of Venti at all. I started playing Ganyu with Sucrose and i have never had any problem playing freeze or melt (with melt a destroied everything in the game in that point) y when i got Kazuha (in he's first rerun) just then i'd stop using Sucrose with her (and yes, i got Venti in his first banner). Second, emphasizing to much with Ganyu freeze comps (freeze isn't Ganyu's main build btw) are bad agains bosses and then said that Ayaka is a better choise that her is very contradictory, the fact that freeze is bad against bosses is something about THE REACTION not the character, so then saying that Ayaka is better when her best playstyle IS FREEZE ONLY doesn't have to much sense. Ayaka has the same problem with bosses, but, for some reason, everyone take that as a negative point for Ganyu, but not for Ayaka and, most importatly, if you can't freeze the enemy with Ayaka, she lose some power because you can't build her for melt, but YOU CAN build Ganyu for melt and deal with bosses anyway. But yeah, people keep saying that Ayaka is better even when she is way less versitile for some reason. Third, and, i know, a lot of people is gonna think that is a had hot take, but, Ganyu isn't as shield depending as people always try to make you think. I never use Ganyu with a shield and i always use her to clear abyss, in my experience Yoimiya is waaaay more shield depending than Ganyu, enemies with slow atacks (mainly bosses) you can doge their atacks in aim mode, fr, and enemies with fast atacks you just use her skill and that's it, the enemy will focus en the lotus and you can charge shot him easly. I this almost 3 years plaing with her it have been like 2 or 3 times that i said: "ok, i need a shield here", to clear abyss, and it's have always be a chamber with like 3 enemies that spam fast atacks or that ignore her skill. Even the curent abyss i used Ganyu without a shield to clear it (both sides of it). And last, she don't need the best supports in the game to work, having them just improve her gameplay like ANY other DPS in this game. Her best parner to melt is Xiangling that is a free character that anyone can get and, oh!, what did you say?, what if you want to melt with Xiagling and not with Ganyu?, well, just play Ganyu as a sub DPS (yeah, Ganyu can fill 3 roles: DPS, subDPS and support/cryo applicator) and melt with Xiangling (and that can make even easier deal with fast atacks enemies). Everytime i see a video talking about Ganyu they put as "bad things" things that every other DPS has too and forgethig that she can be a excelent sub DPS off field too or even a good support or cryo aplicator and then talking about how other character are better even whe their aren't even close as flexible as Ganyu is in builds and reactions that she works in. For example you can take any Ayaka team and put Ganyu instead of her and the team is gonna work anyways. Take any Ganyu team and put Ayaka instead of her and just a few of them are going to work 🤷♂

I do plan to use the comment section for what it’s for tho and give my opinion. 1(Venti is not a factor. Throughout this video you mentioned venti a lot. You already said venti is only getting worse. 5:01 i believe this is a terrible point. She has two ways to be played. She is insane at aoe just like you said but in single target it’s much better to use melt which prefers that situation. That’s why she’s great, versatility. 5:28 another point that I don’t think makes sense. All hyper carries depend on their supports that’s why they are less valuable which you stated later in the video. 6:17 I COMPLETELY agree with this part of the video. Ayaka freeze is better but melt Ganyu is better. I think alot of your points in this video are contradictory because they don’t point out Ganyu versatility. 6:22 the problem is ganyu doesn’t depend on venti at all. Theirs never that many enemies to where venti feels like a necessity and other groupers work fine and even better. 7:25 all 3 of these things are general annoying things with the specific enemy and not with ganyu. 7:37 see this is what I’m talking about. You say this but you don’t take in the fact that you can play melt Ganyu. You can just add a pyro + dendro and bam consistent pyro application. 9:59 again all hyper carries depend on their support. My general opinion: the coco goat is indeed no longer meta defining. The reason people think she’s worse is the same reason people think Dilluc bad( he’s not) it’s because theirs just more options. Before she was meta defining because she had little competition. Especially with the addition of dendro and cryo not mixing with it leads people to believe she is weakened or not keeping up which could not be further from the truth. Ganyu is still top teir but she replaceable and completely depends on if you like her play style. This applies toward all hyper carries. They all just do lots of damage with the boozing of support. Support are all unique and buff in different ways. Nevertheless Ganyus time at the top has not ended and is still very strong. In the end she hasn’t gotten weaker theirs just other options but if you want her she perfectly fine to get and is very strong. Have a good day/night (:

As dps: Morgana (freeze team) Melt team Burn melt (with Pyro+Nahida) As burst support/sub dps: Hutao melt Ayato+Ganyu eternal freeeze Fridge team (dendro+hydro) I like just how versatile she is, be able to put in many team comp. Especially with her aoe burst which she can be put in burst support and main dps. In which, not many pure dps can match her role
The same problem Ganyu has not being able to freeze and wnemy is the same problem Ayaka has, I used to believe that Venti was no longer good because he wasnt able to pull the larger enemies with his enemies, but guess they all forgot to mention tha you just need to freeze them and then Venti is able to do his work. Its all about skill tbh
Ganyu can utilize melt if you're facing unfreezeable enemies (melt actually gives you higher damage). Meanwhile ayaka stuck with freeze/monocryo playstyle and cant do anything else. Ayaka definitely not in same league as ganyu in both flexibility and power.
I feel the most comfort with Ganyu/Shenhe duo than I do with any team and it is definitely my way to shut off my brain and just go. Though she might not be the best, it's not what I'm looking for and she still puts out a lot of damage. Freeze is just convenient cause I dont have to do much of anything but sit back and shoot.
If I use Ganyu on abyss, it's really just as a burst bot. In the overworld though, she's still one of my top picks -- not burst reliant, with a high scaling AoE CA for meat or whatever farming. Just snipe from a distance, get loot, and call it a day
I'd say, GanYuu is more support-ish than any other DPS unit in the game. She can be excellent support/buff for Ayaka and arguably is even more worth pulling than ShenHe.
I see many genshin streamers with quite grainy videos, the quality doesn't reflect the 1080p resolution. If you're using OBS for the recordings, go to your settings and increase the video bitrate, that will fix the video quality. If you're using other recording software... i don't know, but there should be bitrate options somewhere
I think the reason so many ppl are down on ganyu is that when she came out, she was so far above the other five star dps characters. like she was really just on another level, but as more strong dps units like hu tao ayaka and raiden came out and more teams were discovered, she suddenly didn't have that massive power gap she had before hand. like she's by no means bad, even if she's annoying to use in the current content, she's just not the best anymore
For the recent abyss runs for Sumeru, I actually started using ganyu again. I stopped using her around the time sumeru first dropped. But recently, I’m running her as a off field support rather than dps… I might do a few charge shots but only a once or twice and that’s it. I’ve been running her in a zhongli, ganyu, benny, and xiangling team comp. Some people said they’ve been using this team for a long time. I’ve only started using this team recently after I tried every built characters I have in many possible comps for abyss runs. It’s a pretty comfy team with everyone having adequate ER. Zhongli on tenacity and with favonius. Benny on noblesse and favonius. Xiangling on emblem and jade spear. My current build for ganyu is kinda weird.. ganyu with emblem and stringless r5. I stick myself against the wall where the broken columns are at to keep myself in one spot and the consecrated beast in the same area (they push you around a lot so this sorta helps). I had a cryo goblet with 33.7% ER and I just picked the emblem with lots of ER and balance out the crit ratio hoping this will make her ult do more damage. I don’t know the damage all I know that it works…

Honestly my main problem with playing melt ganyu is that it's basically unplayable without zhongli against modern enemies (/inconsistent compared to other teams)
The thing about Ganyu is that she's arguably the strongest Cryo in the game for a very specific reason: She's good for anything. I think the point is to understand that she is not for one single team, and can do anything in the game. Freeze, Melt, Sub DPS, Cryo Buffer? It works for all of that. And, with the release of Dehya and using Dendro and Anemo, you can make a Melt team without Bennet and Xiangling. Currently I would recommend even more than Ayaka to a friend, for example. Because it pays more for a character who is good at many things than one who is only good for one thing, like Ayaka. I currently use it with Ayato and Kazuha/Venti. It is an absurdly strong and underrated team.
tbh you dont need a cryo 5 star, i heard kazuha and alheitham are coming and given how dendro is the current meta and kazuha is just broken you should pull for them but ofcourse its your choice

I wanted to pull for Yoimiya, Kazuha and Kokomi, but if I were to strictly stick to meta, I'd have to skip Yoimiya and go for the latter 2, because "I'd never use her once I get Hu Tao". That's why I decided to only really pull for meta if I already pulled for something I want personally.

Ganyu is still one best top tier DPS Character in the game however, if you are full clearing an abyss Ganyu might not be the best overall, her damage mostly comes from her lvl 2 Charged Attack and it is kind of long to charge up. And from my experience using Ganyu on the abyss, it is very annoying whenever you get interrupted while charging up an attack and i'd highly recommend using a shielder like Zhongli which is her best option unless you are a good dodger. Still, I would highly recommend her for those who are lacking DPS Characters. Cocogoat hihi!
Skipped Ayaka for a few reasons since Aloy was coming out. Aloy failed to be what I wanted so I got Ganyu. Ganyu put me heavily in a box of only 2 playstyles which I didn't have a good comp for freeze and my Xiangling wasn't C4. It also felt super bad to miss any CAs against bosses with weird hitboxes. Eventually this story led me to using my Chongyun to infuse my Keqing. Since then i've been playing for over a year with Keqing infused with cryo in abyss and now pyro as well. Since then i've gotten the pieces needed to make Ganyu work better on her teams but it was more fun to try to play her as a hypercarry dps not tied to melt. Its just not possible though. She was a valuable lesson about how important it is for a character to have a diverse set of team options. Doing the same with Nilou was also a reminder of it but at least bloom is a far less stressful way to play. Ganyu CAs are loads of fun just not in abyss.

i love my ganyu. I quit playing the game for a few months, so missed her first banner. When the second time came around, she was the ONLY unit I was missing, so as all idiots who just got an xmas bonus do, I c6'd her and R5'd Amos bow. She is still BY FAR my best dmg, but that's to be expected with C6. Tbh tho, if she wasn't c6, idk if i'd use her much. she is clunky without the c6, and u basically need a shield with her or she's gonna get knocked all over
And here I am still praying Ganyu since day one because her damage is absurd, specially if I pair her with Shenhe. My default team is comprised of Shenhe, Yae, Kokomi and Ganyu. Love it
The changes in enemies making you get staggered or such over the past several versions have made Ganyu more difficult to play at C0, and have made her C6 more resilient to these changes, since she quickscopes so much. Also her C4 makes her an additional level of power by enemies taking up to 25% more damage while in her burst, which can have 100% uptime, so her freeze viability is still relevant, though it's more a "I love this character" more than YOU NEED TO PULL AND GET HER like the perception was before. Also burning isn't viable for C6 Ganyu because she applies cryo too fast and you'll lose the burning aura, so that's some anti-synergy over NOT having C6.
Even if she "fell off" meta, I don't care haha. I like her and I need a good Cryo unit, plus got Aqua Simulacra by accident lmao. I just think for some reason she will be super useful in Fontaine, thinking about the future 👀
I'm relatively new, and Ganyu was my first DPS and has carried me most of my playtime. I definitely recommend her, she is really good imo having both area damage and concentrated on her charge. Love her design as well. I have seen better results now with Ayaka, but I love them both so much have been using them together a lot of the time with Kokomi and Sucrose for Freeze.
I think you miss 2 HUGE factors: 1) she's dirt cheap comparatively speaking; a C0 that can deal as much damage as she can (with 4* weapons) is insane. 2) she can be used as a burst bot and a main dps. These two factors in itself is a decent enough reason to say she's a must-pull. If you have spent around $2000 every month the last year she might've fallen off but for most players she's an absolute BEAST and this "Zhongli or gtfo" is just an old mindset for people stuck in 1.2
I have some history Ganyu. I was head over heels for her when she came out, but I lost 50/50 and couldn't claim my guarantee due to covid. I finally got her on her rerun and I have always had success in The story and end game content. Funny enough I'm a console player and I got the predator bow which *_*KINDA*_* works LOL But everything you said so far about her is true. Even with Dehya mitigating damage and blocking some crowd control.. Ganyu is good but can't do everything. I still love her to pieces tho.
As an AR35 veteran, i accidentally pulled Ganyu though I am aware that she's not "the best" anymore, but I always have good supports so it wasn't that bad. I run a burn-melt team overworld with Kazuha, Bennet, and Nahida (really want to challenge myself without a shielder). Got a bit frustrated being knocked around by enemies and it was the hardest comb I have played so far (previously it was Yanfei burgeon, Miko AFK quicken, Ayato freeze), but I enjoy the snipping none the less. Besides, due to the insane stackable crit rate of the cryo characters, I highly suspect that when we get to Fontaine underwater regions are designed in a way that the water can freeze the character in their own hitbox in return and these mechanics can be moved to at least half of the spiral abyss, making Ayaka freeze a little tricky to play while Ganyu's CA can make sure that she stays outside her own hitbox, and I think when we get underwater abyss, there may be a new variation of Ganyu: Fridge Ganyu with Ganyu doing cryo DPS and nahida doing the blooms.

I think that the biggest problem of Ganyu is that doesn't exist a cryo-dendro reaction, the only option is melt on burning but we don't have a good pyro off-field applicator, the only one is dehya but has too much downtime and need nahida that is better in other teams... Maybe with the pyro archon but is too much time in the future
Ganyu is still strong compared to other DPS characters. The problem with her is that she became a bit difficult and clunky to use, if we consider that many of the new enemies are literally built to stagger you and be annoying all the time. So I wouldn't say she is a top pick anymore, but is still a strong character.

yeah, tho i had her since 3.0, i would go for melt team so she can hit enemies hard but couldn't cuz i didn't have xiangling built (still dont- T-T) which is the issue and i already cant even complete the spiral abyss but i think if i have ganyu in melt team, i think i can finally beat it. i have good characters but need better crit sadly...

She's very versatile. If you don't like her charged shot gameplay, try putting her on a noblesse/emblem set and use her as a burst bot. I love her in daily commissions, especially the ones where you destroy the towers.
I like commissions where I can stand super far away, like way up on a cliff, and shoot everyone or the towers from a safe/funny distance
Well my reason for rolling for her is those dailies so i can just nuke them at safe distance then logout

When I got her, I didn’t know how to shoot so I used her a a burst bot! It made sure I didn’t get sick with her charge shot and I learned how to dodge since then! Now I can’t stop playing her!
On a side note, Layla can add a lot of value to Ganyu teams due to her absurd shield strength, the cryo resonance and the extra cryo app she gives (and allowing you to avoid playing circle impact with Diona)
I also find Layla's shield uptime to be the most comfy out of all four stars
to clarify, this is only meant for Ganyu freeze teams, correct? I have been very hesitant on building Layla for my Ganyu melt team because I was afraid her little icicles that shoot out from her shield would mess with the melt reaction.
Cryo resonance is useless on melt teams and Layla can steal your melts if you aren't careful. She's OK as a defensive option on freeze teams, but usually you don't need a shield on freeze teams anyway. However if you have Layla on a mono cryo teams with Ganyu/Shenhe/Kazuha, Layla C6 gets a 40% damage bonus on all her skill and burst hits so she can leverage Shenhe quills really well while giving you a shield for Ganyu to charge shot spam. Of course if you want to do good damage you need a crit build which means a somewhat weaker shield. R5 Harbinger of Dawn is perfect for Layla in this role. I run noblesse fav Shenhe, VV fav Kazuha, ToTM HoD Layla, and Strayer Amos Ganyu.
is there a good ganyu kazuha melt rotation with layla? Layla's shield doesnt last as long as zhongli's so using her shield at the start of the rotation isnt viable.
@@leelee1782 don't build layla for melt, the cryo app sucks and 12sec shield duration is awkward. layla for freeze/mono cryo ganyu, c4 yanfei or diona for melt.

Also in general this video is nonsense, completely missing that majority of Ganyu's value is coming from her flexibility, mainly - in switching between on-field and off-field dps, great AoE with 100% uptime and range. She is great for many teams and situations. Even in burn melt you can switch to Ganyu off-field and just keep triggering burning with Nahida and Kazuha. Let's not forget that off-fielder is always MORE valuable than on-fielder. Ganyu is TOP unit, while this video is just terribly narrow-minded.

Solo capabilities are meaningless as almost no one plays the abyss with just 1 character, even the fastest abyss speedruns you see have 4 characters. The guy you were mentioning that soloed wenut with Ganyu is a tryhard that resets the abyss 10+ hrs to get the perfect run just to flex, majority of the people doesn't have time for that.
And for freeze, well, Ayaka will always be a better pick (and is usually picked rather than Ganyu) as she has higher damage ceiling than ganyu w/o melt.

That's zy0x's point, just because she's flexible and can fulfill different roles doesn't mean she's valuable, as there's characters designed for those roles that performs better than Ganyu.
Also against wenut, Ganyu teams have low full star clearance rate in akashadata compared to Ayaka Freeze, Rational, and Aggravate teams last 3.5 at whopping +90% vs wenut, with ganyu comps the highest full star rate is 70% against wenut, so while Ganyu does clear, other teams can perform better.

Also i think people really ignore ganyu's versatility in this game. When she was first released everyone thought she was going to be a support character. She has an insane aoe which buffs all your teams cryo damage by 20%, and has a taunt which disengages you aswell as applies two bursts of cryo.
ehh I mean, the cryo damage is nice but I wouldn't exactly call it "insane," and the taunt is basically useless to be completely honest. She's still very good as a 2nd cryo for lets say ayaka, but that's equally because of her damage as her buffs.

Ganyu's value is that she's a ranged DPS in a Spiral meta that seems to be throwing flying Wolflords and Wenuts that are completely unhittable by Melee units in certain phases. If you play Burn Melt Ganyu with Nahida, Ganyu can melt her charge shots from any distance. The only downside with Nahida Melt Ganyu is that you don't really want Zhongli as your shielder because his pillars can crystallize off your burning and throw off your Nahida trikarma timing which could make you drop Burning. If you play at a distance where his pillars won't affect this, then you may not be getting Zhongli's res shred, and if you're too close then his pillars can ruin your burning. I recommend c4 Yanfei as the shield option in this team since in a pinch Yanfei can also reignite Burning from a distance if you accidentally drop it.
a little bit correction. Zhongli res shred is from his shield not from his pillar, so its not that much of an issue. I always start shielding far away from where i want to fight, then just proceed the fight somewhere far away from the pillar. Althought using c4 Yanfei as a shielder for Meltnyu is an interesting idea, might give it a try later. Thanks !
Fun fact, Ganyu at low Constellation can solo Abyss full stars (depending on the enemies) provided you play on PC, have very good ping and you have the skill to do it. I think a TH-camrs consistently uploading Solo Ganyu against the newest Abyss whenever he can.
Also, I beat Weenut using Ayaka-Ganyu-Kokomi-Kazuha. Ganyu surprisingly great sub-DPS and her Burst can buff Ayaka Cryo damage.
Not low cons, but simply - c0r1. Yup, all Abysses to this day were cleared with Ganyu solo.

Maybe irrelevant as of now but Ganyu can be pretty good against the Wenut. I cleaned it with freeze Ganyu while using Venti instead of Kazuha (basically Morgana) and i still had more than 20s left on the timer. That’s without using any 5* weapons on any of the characters.
Edit: i guess i didn’t actually say what make Ganyu “good” in what i typed… basically it’s because she can chip damage him very well due to her energy-less cooldown-less high scaling charge shots.
Chip damage is part of it, but also the Wenut is so huge that it takes like 2-3 times more damage from her Burst. The damage is as if you were using her in AoE.
Ganyu is really nice for dealing with overworld really fast, her Charged Shot is her main dmg, has no energy/cd, has long range, can be forcibly targeted, and a large aoe.
She's also cryo so she has Freeze for dealing with mobs that move too much and Melt for more dmg.
Pair her with Zhongli and she's basically a modern tank.
I never understood this claim. Yelan and Scara zoom so fast they are much better Imo. You gotta pick up that chest and loot don’t forget. And their dps is more then enough because well…open world enemies. By the time ganyu is doing charging a shot Yelan already ran over there and one tapped the mobs

Wanderer less so but he's still under the mercy of auto aim. Yelan has the aoe charged shot but that isn't where her dmg is. They slightly struggle with enemies on towers and flying enemies, unless you use their burst but great now you also have to go and get energy.
Ganyu's fully targeted aoe can surpass anything but shields and the katana block.
She can hit what you want, where you want, when you want without dashing into the enemy's face to force the targeting system to choose them.
She also has easy access to Freeze AND Melt so you can decide to Freeze the flying little buggers or just Melt the machines which tend to not be able to be onehshot unless you use a burst.
I'm not saying she's the absolute best, Wanderer or maybe Ayaka probably has the best balance between dmg and mobility, I know I switched to her when travelling through Inazuma but again, with how many puzzles need you to hit specific things, how many flying stuff there is, how hidden some enemies are, and how sometimes you don't want to think just shoot and be on with it, Ganyu's Powerful Targeted AoE is REALLY good for dealing with overworld's many annoyances.

And you aren’t fighting enemies on towers most of the time. (Also they are hillichurls so like go sneeze on them with one arrow from anyone)
As someone who’s been grinding 100% regions since launch never once have I used my ganyu after her initial release (who is well built btw)

You’re fucking lying 😭 when it comes to killing literally anything that isn’t immune to cryo, over half the time I don’t even bother to go up to them, I just aim and hit my shots and their dead. Not to mention other than she takes relatively low investment compared to Yelan and Wanderer. Those two are both VERY picky with their artifacts while she’s good with the majority of dps artifacts. Can literally stick a 4 pc glad on her and clear the game. It’s also VERY weird to cry “she’s too clunky” but you’re advocating for WANDERER of all characters 💀plus her play style is simply faster. Also both Yelan and Wanderer rely too much on their E/Q. Ganyu being a character where 90% of her damage requires no use for E/Q will always make her more probable.

You can play Ganyu in dendro teams like Hyperbloom too (Ganyu being Burst Support). I think this teams are so meta right know! They are called "HyperFridge" if someone want to search for it.
That's essentially what I'm running with keqing (sac sword, 1st 5 star lost on nahida 75 pulls), Nahida (2nd 5 star, 75 pulls), Barbara (no other hydro), Ganyu (3rd, 76-77 pulls, won 50/50).
Still leveling Ganyu to rank 5 as well as saving materials for rank 6.
Now if Arts didn't weren't utter crap.

Melt Ganyu (+ Xiangling, Bennet) with Zhongli shield is still one of my favorite teams to play. It's very comfy and reliable in most situations. In my opinion her strengths are still about the same as they were in the beginning (even with freeze setup being countered by more enemies in general), there are just way more options that are equally attractive nowadays.
Thank you Mr. Zy0nix for using xiangling's pyronado Displaying her mastery over both fire and polearms, Xiangling sends a Pyronado whirling around her. The Pyronado will move with your character for the ability's duration, dealing Pyro DMG to all opponents in its path. Truly one of the strimmer of all time i love him gayge

She is still a beast. Tried her in the current abyss just right after the abyss refresh, and she dominated it together with Benny, Xiangling and Zhongli. Btw, she’s c0 w/o amos. she dominated all the 1st chambers. I tried aggravate keqing w/ jade cutter, Vaporize Ayato (which worked as well but less smoother rotations), heck even my hyperbloom kuki didn’t work. It’ll always boil down on your preferred playstyle, but ganyu will always be consistent.

I just love listening to Zy0nix (a streamer) talking about the Consecrated Beasts on his TH-cam channel while I remember him explaining on his Twitter how he enjoys being played with by them.
Recently I've been enjoying playing her in Ganyu/Shenhe/Layla/Kazuha team mostly as a burst bot, but also occasionally filling my random ass rotations with one or two charged attacks. I think her A4 passive is greatly underrated and most people have probably totally forgotten that she has a 100% uptime on a 20% cryo damage buff for your active character. Pair that with Shenhe and an anemo support and you can even turn Diona's hold E into a nuke with the buffs.

She has good and bad matchups, but her teams and numbers are still crazy strong. She just has more competitions now.
There's also the gameplay aspect. Not everyone is going to like her gameplay and other units will probably be better suited for you, but that doesn't make her weaker by any means.
Also, sidenote, all non-dendro reactions are technically weaker now, since all recent abyss rotations have been balanced around those. With the exception of Raiden national of course, lol
Thank you!, is really not too hard to understand, the fact that is more characters now dosen't make her worse at all, she is really strong anyway, if someone don't like her gameplay is fine, just don't go over there saying that she is bad just for that 😅. She is the most versatile cryo character and one of the best DPS in the game anyway

I main Ganyu since 1.2. I roam teyvat w/ her and she carried my 36 star abyss. My reverse melt and Freeze comp for her is almost perfect. I just love her playstyle so much.
i think one underrated part of ganyu is that shes pretty useful for the overworld as she deals with everything that isnt abyss and has special mechanics just fine solo without supports. i guess there are other characters that can fulfill the same role but in the end u can use whatever and still beat everything as long as uk what yr doing so just do what u want
exactly! an amazing early carry that allows you to deal with any threat that isnt a cryo enemy that stays relavent even to endgame overworld. The people who complain about how mid ganyu is are all endgame players who are focusing on abyss or speed clearing domains
She fell off in the sense that she's no longer the definitive best DPS. Now she's simply one of the good options. She's kind of in the same situation as Ayato but as a carry. She's usually never the BIS for an archetype, but contributes to a high performing team in many. One mistake this video highlights though is the "don't use Ganyu's burst in melt" mistake. You should always use her burst if it's up. In ST, you use her burst first, and put Xiangling's skill up before she retakes the field. In AOE, you snapshot Bennet's buff on her burst and effectively do large AOE damage. This is no doubt, part of why she's underrated, because people are missing out on free damage and buffs from her own kit.
You use Melt Ganyu as the general option, being in between Rational and International. Better for bosses than international, while not ungrouping enemies in AOE like Rational does. If Grouping is highly desirable, you run either Ganyu freeze or mono cryo. If you want a low investment team comp, you run the fridge comp variants.
Doubt Xiangling alone will consistently provide enough pyro for reliable reverse melts on the charge, but even if not there's still Sunfire which definitely applies enough
@@Ayzev If her burst is used first, you'll typically only get stolen melts if you spam her skill off of cooldown. Gouba has no ICD, so he helps a lot. Charge shot 3 or 4 is typically when you'd use the skill again. For AOE, having 2 snapshotted high AOE damage bursts are the most important, and forward melting Xiangling's burst isn't exactly heartbreaking in AOE. You can somewhat avoid the stolen melts if you alternate the targets of your charge shots or just hit the ground.
@@desolatorstorm142 Hitting the ground would lose 42% of the charged shot's damage. Not sure if the burst's damage would make up for it. Certainly wouldn't be much of a gain in single target damage, if one at all, which is the main point of melt over freeze/monocryo

As somebody whos been playing Ganyu in one of their main teams (im running her in the permafreeze comp with mona, venti and diona) for a while now i can 100% agree with what you are saying. Id say if the content im playing hits her and ventis niche i.e. a huge amount of displaceable and freezable enemies its my strongest team but whenever i see a duo of ruingraders id rather pick my beidou and for unfreezable bosses i rarely even consider her. Also another weakness ive encountered while playing her is that i feel like she struggles if theres only very short burst dps windows like you often have with hypostases. The dps phases are often only long enough to get a single charge shot out (the full charge time for the flower is just soooooo loooong) and unless you plan ahead well and dont get hecced by rng you dont have time for the rather lengthy setup with all 3 q+e of the other characters.
Also really good to use in hyperfridge. I’ve been using her for the deepwood domain with Nahida, Xingqiu, and Kuki.

Ganyu is incredibly underrated by the META community AND casuals alike. The META community greatly underrate her Melt playstyle, especially at high vertical investment, and casuals don't like her because her CA can be slow and annoying to use without freeze or Zhongli/Diano/Dehya.
Because of that, I think that she was once overrated, but now she is incredibly underrated and underappreciated. And that's why Imma get closer to her C6 next banner coz she's 1 Million% best girl 🔥

1. Zhongli Melt Ganyu EASILY clears every single F12 chamber this abyss except 12-3-1 and that's only because it has an electro check. His Bennett circle thing for 12-1 is true for EVERY Bennett team apart from maybe sucrose/Kazuha national team. Also, practically every team struggles to clear the beasts except maybe teams like freeze or shield teams, which Ganyu can be a part of BOTH.
2. Most accounts that are >1 year old have a good Wanderer's set lying around. The only thing you need to change is an EM or Atk sands for her Melt/some of her Morgana teams. Even then, for some of her other venti teams, the burst does WAY more than enough dmg where you don't even need to farm for BS.
3. Like I said in point 2, Wanderer's is a common set a lot of players have where getting 60/200 and 200 EM is not super hard for Ganyu. He even mentioned how good Hamayumi and Prototype crescent are for Ganyu. 5 star weapons are not really necessary to clear the abyss with her comfortably.
4. This is the only sorta viable take? Except that most hypercarries need those expensive supports to work optimally lmao. XL/Bennett/XQ/Kazuha is important for Raiden to work well in her hyper/rational teams, and subsequently Nahida and Yelan for hyperbloom, Xiao needs Zhongli, Succ and Bennett, Hu Tao needs either Zhongli or XQ/Yelan/XL or Kazuha/XQ for VV vape and to a lesser extent, someone like Cyno needs XQ and Kuki, and potentially Nahida too. I get that there are lesser 4 star replacements for them (except for Raiden), but those are also quite expensive supports like Fischl in Xiao, or Sucrose in Hu Tao, and DMC/Yaoyao/Baizhu for Cyno
They also underrate Ganyu Melt teams as being mid or wtv, which I think a lot of their audience will interpret as not that good. If you have the investment in #2, that's practically 150k/CA melt, about 600k DPR for herself and about 800k DPR/rotation. That's a

This is very helpful. I'm planning on pulling for Kaveh (hopefully get him to C4 at least) and I was considering pulling for Ganyu. (Ideally, I would like to lose my 50/50 to Tighnari.) I like Baizhu and I mostly run dendro teams, but I think I have more than enough dendro characters already while I lack cryo. I haven't been playing for too long so I don't even have Venti, but I'm planning to pull for him in the future. If I get Ganyu, it'll be an investment. I don't mind her "weaknesses" cause I understand that characters have their own pros and cons. I might bench her for awhile tho. XD
I have Nahida Nilou on my alt account. The upcoming banner doesn't really appeal to me because of Ganyu's reduced versatility (I actually like everything about her, but I also want to have good abyss setup with minimal investment). I could go for Baizhu since it'll make farming my two teams easier, but I would also have far too much Dendro and generating cores everywhere is boring to me....

Some comments as someone who used Freeze Ganyu in the past two Abyss rotations:
IMO the most important requirement to making her work in Freeze is having multiple enemies that you can group (either with an Anemo character or knowing enemy patterns). The +20% CRIT Rate from hitting Frozen enemies (as opposed to enemies affected by Cryo but not Frozen) is important, but grouping an enemy with just one other enemy straight up doubles the damage your Burst does to each.
12-3-2 was tricky until I learned that running far to the left at the start gets the Cryo Maguu Kenki to run towards the others and groups them, so even though they were unfreezable they were still very manageable just from how well Ganyu's Burst scales in AoE. 12-1-2 on the other hand was a massive pain and it's all because of the consecrated tiger deciding to take the scenic route to my location. Even though they're freezable, you lose so much damage if they aren't being hit by double the icicles from being grouped. If you want to use Freeze or Mono Cryo Ganyu in this Abyss, I recommend prioritizing breaking the tiger's energy block to prevent it from jumping around. 12-2-2 as you might expect was a cakewalk.
Something funny is that her Burst is actually really good against the Wenut. Since it's so large, it ends up getting hit by like 20-30 icicles as opposed to the 10 you normally get in single target.
I did play Melt Ganyu in a few abysses. Felt nice although not _as_ fast something like National, but still quite good. Good option if you need Xingqiu on another team, which can happen a bit more nowadays, and don't have another Hydro applier like Tartaglia available for Xiangling.

I think people also don't usually factor in her quality of life play. In the overworld she's amazing. With her damage coming from CAs she always has uptime. And some commissions are so much easier with her. And killing enemies up on platforms is so much more efficient with her

i've pulled ganyu on her first rerun (idk when that was i just remember her being with zhongli and it being at about when i started playing) bcs i loved her design and just loved her as a character, however, everyone either called me a meta slave or a pervert bcs "you drool over her design" when i just said "idk i like ganyu's story and i kinda resonate with her being always tired and other shit" but regardless i still love her no matter if she's meta or not :D
I C6 her since her first banner Jan 2021, It is the only time that i don't regret whaling in this game.
She is everything you need. Open world or Abyss/Single target or Multiple targets/Main dps or Cryo support/Help you with ranged attacks but also you don't need to aim.

To the new players, don't be afraid to play a characters you want, even of it's Amber. In this game at first months people managed to build Barbara in too a good damager, so what to say about the rest? Yeah, there is stronger and weaker characters, but the thing is that the majority still can complete all genshin conten.
Short answer: Shes good
commonly regarded as inferior to ayaka due to often dealing lower damage in a short time, she very much evens it out with extreme versatility and crowd control among other things like lower burst dependency and more and better team options such as a higher affinity with melt
also overlooked often is her synergy with mono cryo which is a decent team and sometimes a straight upgrade over freeze against bosses
plus one of if not the best overworld onfielder

I love a burning melt Ganyu team with Bennett, Nahida, and Kazuha :) Instead of trying to stay in Bennett's Inspiration Field you replace a lot of the added damage from that with how strong the burning reaction is with Nahida's and Kazuha's high EM. The main downside is that Kazuha's burst doesn't last long, so you would also miss out on the 15% cryo buff from Ganyu's burst.
I feel Ganyu will always have a place in the meta. Even though I don't like using the term "meta" in Genshin considering the only content meant to be taken seriously is Spiral Abyss and that the "meta" is entirely balanced around whether they feel like shilling Venti or not...
Even though we now have characters that can keep up with or exceed Ganyu in on-field DPS situations, unlike many of those characters (minus extremely specific and gimmicky moments), Ganyu can still fulfill roles off field, which Zy0x forgot to mention, or at least only briefly touched upon.
People tend to forget that Ganyu has very solid cryo application. Her Skill is instant on a fairly average cooldown. If both parts hit (more often than not), then she generates 4 particles 6-10 seconds. And then there is her Burst that has a 60 energy cost and effectively 100% uptime. One of the ascention passives is grating 20% cryu damage bonus while in the field. Considering it's a huge field, that's not a hard thing to fulfill.
In the end, she's a Year 1 character and Genshin has at least 4-5 more years under it's sleeve, with more characters being able to accomplish more things. She'll probably be one of the best-aging Year 1 5* units because of the fact that she isn't restricted to on-field only.

@@TheColdestplay We're having this discussion because Ganyu was seen as * the * DPS character for quite a while. Pretty much until Ayaka came out and then that's when people accepted that there was a character that is better than Ganyu in most situations.
Every other standard Year 1 5* has aged significantly worse than Ganyu, despite characters like Mona, Jean, and Qiqi being off-field characters (and as expected since they are standard characters after all). Albedo has aged worse than Ganyu (mostly due to no other Geo characters being released since Itto, a whole year ago and Geo reactions being trash). Eula has aged worse than Ganyu. Klee has aged worse than Ganyu to the point where people roll Klee's C2 so she can actually do something off field. Like I said, the video only really talked about Ganyu as a main on-field DPS role and when you have viability off field alongside on-field, you will age better than most.

Ganyu is my favorite character and has been my main since her release. What made me wanna play her was how visually pleasing her abilities are, her character design, and her personality. I also have a thing for archery women/characters

I do love playing her but when it came to abyss, it would always irritate me of how much my block would get knocked off every 5 seconds. If I didn’t have Zhongli, it would be a pain in the ass playing her. And it’s hard because she’s my favorite.

When we started getting units like Hu Tao, Ayaka, and Alhaitham I started to find more enjoyment in them and started playing Ganyu a whole lot less.

Recently, I’ve been playing Tighnari and he’s such a breath of fresh air compared to Ganyu. I’ll always love Ganyu and still think she’s one of the best Dps characters in the game. But I had to learn it’s okay prefer other units to clear abyss with.
I have Ganyu, but I can't believe I only managed to 9 star Abyss WITHOUT her, and it made me sad since I got her a very long time ago. But damn Raiden-Bennet-Xiangling-Sara and Nahida-Yelan-Xingqiu-Kuki teams are just wayyyy more consistent to use.
i would go for ayaka, but since her banner just was 3.5 i dont have high hopes for rerun anytime soon :)

Ganyu is actually very strong, she helped me to clear the Wenut. But so did Ayaka as well
A someone who's been here since almost the beginning of Genshin, it's very nostalgic thinking back when most people were saying Ganyu was a must pull. I think Ganyu will always be relevant in the meta regardless of her team limitations and new enemy additions because she's so strong and easy to build.
But in all honestly the only reason I've never pulled for her and probably never will; and I may get shot for this lol, is because I find her move set very boring to play. Shooting from afar and seeing big numbers may be fun the first few times but after a while it gets very dull because that's all you need to do since she's so strong. And pulling her just for her to be a burst support would be a huge waste. I just personally want to be more engaged with the characters I pull for in the long term especially if they're a 5*. Which is a pity because I do love her character and visual design, but her kit is just not for me :(

I don't even know the reason why I got her. I just did. And I must say, she has helped me a lot both in the overworld and early Abyss. I don't use her anymore, but I don't regret getting her.
As a non-whale who saved up until got her C6, I don't care if she's no longer meta. Using her is a lot of fun in both Abyss and openworld. She can deal a decent, if not the best, long range damage and still has short range countermeasures, on top of an insanely long and large AOE burst. A lot of new characters are considered meta since Dendro's introduction, but they are not as fun to play as much as my cocogoat.

Running Burning Melt Ganyu against him makes this fight soooo much easier. You have 100% uptime on the boss thanks to Nahida's burning lasting forever and you can just keep a relatively high DPS on the boss as he flys around the area, out of reach of the majority of the cast.

I think someone else mentioned it but this would mean that Zhongli would not be very viable here since crystallize would get rid of the aura. And since Wolflord is only one half of the three chambers, having no Zhongli sounds like a pain

Ganyu, and Hu Tao are still extremely strong. To be fair I have both of them at C1 with their signature weapon.
I didn't have Nahida until recently and I was still using Melt Ganyu and Hu Tao whenever I felt like I needed the extra damage.
I also have never pulled for Venti because I don't like his character or playing around his burst (I have used him when clearing the abyss on a friends account). I have also never liked freeze Ganyu and have almost always played melt.
Melt Ganyu is definitely strong, but still very uncomfortable to play even if you have a 55k HP Zhongli. Every time my shield breaks instantly when standing in Benny's circle because those consecrated beasts and maguu kenkis do reactions on you and amplify their dmg. Also it takes forever to get Xiangling's burst back esp if Fav rng does not proc.

As a f2p playing from the game release I'm in a stage in the game where i don't even care about meta coz i have all the necessary characters to 36 star abyss so now I'm happy that i can pull for characters whom i find attractive and enjoy their VA and everything so definitely gonna pull for her
Ok, i have been playing Ganyu since her release and there so many things in this video that doesn't feel right 😅. First, this video emphasize too much that Ganyu's freeze teams work good with Venti and without him are way wrose, and that is 100% not true, Ganyu don't depend of Venti at all. I started playing Ganyu with Sucrose and i have never had any problem playing freeze or melt (with melt a destroied everything in the game in that point) y when i got Kazuha (in he's first rerun) just then i'd stop using Sucrose with her (and yes, i got Venti in his first banner). Second, emphasizing to much with Ganyu freeze comps (freeze isn't Ganyu's main build btw) are bad agains bosses and then said that Ayaka is a better choise that her is very contradictory, the fact that freeze is bad against bosses is something about THE REACTION not the character, so then saying that Ayaka is better when her best playstyle IS FREEZE ONLY doesn't have to much sense. Ayaka has the same problem with bosses, but, for some reason, everyone take that as a negative point for Ganyu, but not for Ayaka and, most importatly, if you can't freeze the enemy with Ayaka, she lose some power because you can't build her for melt, but YOU CAN build Ganyu for melt and deal with bosses anyway. But yeah, people keep saying that Ayaka is better even when she is way less versitile for some reason. Third, and, i know, a lot of people is gonna think that is a had hot take, but, Ganyu isn't as shield depending as people always try to make you think. I never use Ganyu with a shield and i always use her to clear abyss, in my experience Yoimiya is waaaay more shield depending than Ganyu, enemies with slow atacks (mainly bosses) you can doge their atacks in aim mode, fr, and enemies with fast atacks you just use her skill and that's it, the enemy will focus en the lotus and you can charge shot him easly. I this almost 3 years plaing with her it have been like 2 or 3 times that i said: "ok, i need a shield here", to clear abyss, and it's have always be a chamber with like 3 enemies that spam fast atacks or that ignore her skill. Even the curent abyss i used Ganyu without a shield to clear it (both sides of it). And last, she don't need the best supports in the game to work, having them just improve her gameplay like ANY other DPS in this game. Her best parner to melt is Xiangling that is a free character that anyone can get and, oh!, what did you say?, what if you want to melt with Xiagling and not with Ganyu?, well, just play Ganyu as a sub DPS (yeah, Ganyu can fill 3 roles: DPS, subDPS and support/cryo applicator) and melt with Xiangling (and that can make even easier deal with fast atacks enemies).
Everytime i see a video talking about Ganyu they put as "bad things" things that every other DPS has too and forgethig that she can be a excelent sub DPS off field too or even a good support or cryo aplicator and then talking about how other character are better even whe their aren't even close as flexible as Ganyu is in builds and reactions that she works in. For example you can take any Ayaka team and put Ganyu instead of her and the team is gonna work anyways. Take any Ganyu team and put Ayaka instead of her and just a few of them are going to work 🤷♂

You already said venti is only getting worse. 5:01 i believe this is a terrible point. She has two ways to be played. She is insane at aoe just like you said but in single target it’s much better to use melt which prefers that situation. That’s why she’s great, versatility. 5:28 another point that I don’t think makes sense. All hyper carries depend on their supports that’s why they are less valuable which you stated later in the video. 6:17 I COMPLETELY agree with this part of the video. Ayaka freeze is better but melt Ganyu is better. Ganyu is still top teir but she replaceable and completely depends on if you like her play style. This applies toward all hyper carries. They all just do lots of damage with the boozing of support. Support are all unique and buff in different ways. Nevertheless Ganyus time at the top has not ended and is still very strong. I like just how versatile she is, be able to put in many team comp. Especially with her aoe burst which she can be put in burst support and main dps. In which, not many pure dps can match her role
The same problem Ganyu has not being able to freeze and wnemy is the same problem Ayaka has, I used to believe that Venti was no longer good because he wasnt able to pull the larger enemies with his enemies, but guess they all forgot to mention tha you just need to freeze them and then Venti is able to do his work.

Ganyu can utilize melt if you're facing unfreezeable enemies (melt actually gives you higher damage). Meanwhile ayaka stuck with freeze/monocryo playstyle and cant do anything else. Ayaka definitely not in same league as ganyu in both flexibility and power.

I feel the most comfort with Ganyu/Shenhe duo than I do with any team and it is definitely my way to shut off my brain and just go. If I use Ganyu on abyss, it's really just as a burst bot. In the overworld though, she's still one of my top picks -- not burst reliant, with a high scaling AoE CA for meat or whatever farming. Just snipe from a distance, get loot, and call it a day

I'd say, GanYuu is more support-ish than any other DPS unit in the game. She can be excellent support/buff for Ayaka and arguably is even more worth pulling than ShenHe.
I see many genshin streamers with quite grainy videos, the quality doesn't reflect the 1080p resolution. If you're using OBS for the recordings, go to your settings and increase the video bitrate, that will fix the video quality. If you're using other recording software... i don't know, but there should be bitrate options somewhere
I think the reason so many ppl are down on ganyu is that when she came out, she was so far above the other five star dps characters. like she was really just on another level, but as more strong dps units like hu tao ayaka and raiden came out and more teams were discovered, she suddenly didn't have that massive power gap she had before hand. like she's by no means bad, even if she's annoying to use in the current content, she's just not the best anymore
For the recent abyss runs for Sumeru, I actually started using ganyu again. I stopped using her around the time sumeru first dropped. But recently, I’m running her as a off field support rather than dps… I might do a few charge shots but only a once or twice and that’s it. I’ve been running her in a zhongli, ganyu, benny, and xiangling team comp. Some people said they’ve been using this team for a long time. I’ve only started using this team recently after I tried every built characters I have in many possible comps for abyss runs. It’s a pretty comfy team with everyone having adequate ER. Zhongli on tenacity and with favonius. Benny on noblesse and favonius. Xiangling on emblem and jade spear. My current build for ganyu is kinda weird.. ganyu with emblem and stringless r5. I stick myself against the wall where the broken columns are at to keep myself in one spot and the consecrated beast in the same area (they push you around a lot so this sorta helps). I had a cryo goblet with 33.7% ER and I just picked the emblem with lots of ER and balance out the crit ratio hoping this will make her ult do more damage. I don’t know the damage all I know that it works…

The thing about Ganyu is that she's arguably the strongest Cryo in the game for a very specific reason: She's good for anything.
I think the point is to understand that she is not for one single team, and can do anything in the game.
Freeze, Melt, Sub DPS, Cryo Buffer? It works for all of that.
And, with the release of Dehya and using Dendro and Anemo, you can make a Melt team without Bennet and Xiangling.
Currently I would recommend even more than Ayaka to a friend, for example. Because it pays more for a character who is good at many things than one who is only good for one thing, like Ayaka.
I currently use it with Ayato and Kazuha/Venti. It is an absurdly strong and underrated team.

I wanted to pull for Yoimiya, Kazuha and Kokomi, but if I were to strictly stick to meta, I'd have to skip Yoimiya and go for the latter 2, because "I'd never use her once I get Hu Tao". That's why I decided to only really pull for meta if I already pulled for something I want personally.
@@shemage5932 People keep telling how Kazuha is a must pull, meta, "your acc is ruined if you don't have him" unit, but i skipped all his banners for other chars and i feel perfectly fine without him
but as of now the situation is that i have all rumoured characters from 3.8 so i'll skip it, not pulling from now until i get Kirara and then go all for Kazuha, if i'm lucky with 50/50 i might actually get him this time

Ganyu is still one best top tier DPS Character in the game however, if you are full clearing an abyss Ganyu might not be the best overall, her damage mostly comes from her lvl 2 Charged Attack and it is kind of long to charge up.
And from my experience using Ganyu on the abyss, it is very annoying whenever you get interrupted while charging up an attack and i'd highly recommend using a shielder like Zhongli which is her best option unless you are a good dodger.
Still, I would highly recommend her for those who are lacking DPS Characters. Cocogoat hihi!
Skipped Ayaka for a few reasons since Aloy was coming out. Aloy failed to be what I wanted so I got Ganyu. Ganyu put me heavily in a box of only 2 playstyles which I didn't have a good comp for freeze and my Xiangling wasn't C4. It also felt super bad to miss any CAs against bosses with weird hitboxes. Eventually this story led me to using my Chongyun to infuse my Keqing. Since then i've been playing for over a year with Keqing infused with cryo in abyss and now pyro as well.
Since then i've gotten the pieces needed to make Ganyu work better on her teams but it was more fun to try to play her as a hypercarry dps not tied to melt. Its just not possible though. She was a valuable lesson about how important it is for a character to have a diverse set of team options. Doing the same with Nilou was also a reminder of it but at least bloom is a far less stressful way to play. Ganyu CAs are loads of fun just not in abyss.
Super out of topic comment but Zy0x, do you intend to do similar guides for Star Rail? That would be awesome honestly. I can't hardly see myself following another content creator for such guides considering the quality and consistency of yours.
tysm i've been waiting for this. despite being an ayaya main, i really want to pull ganyu and build a melt team, because it will be better for exploration and i typically play ayaya as freeze
i love my ganyu. I quit playing the game for a few months, so missed her first banner. When the second time came around, she was the ONLY unit I was missing, so as all idiots who just got an xmas bonus do, I c6'd her and R5'd Amos bow. She is still BY FAR my best dmg, but that's to be expected with C6. Tbh tho, if she wasn't c6, idk if i'd use her much. she is clunky without the c6, and u basically need a shield with her or she's gonna get knocked all over
And here I am still praying Ganyu since day one because her damage is absurd, specially if I pair her with Shenhe. My default team is comprised of Shenhe, Yae, Kokomi and Ganyu. Love it
glad to hear this. Since I accidentally got a C1 ganyu trying to get (or save for) zhongli in both her reruns
The changes in enemies making you get staggered or such over the past several versions have made Ganyu more difficult to play at C0, and have made her C6 more resilient to these changes, since she quickscopes so much.
Also her C4 makes her an additional level of power by enemies taking up to 25% more damage while in her burst, which can have 100% uptime, so her freeze viability is still relevant, though it's more a "I love this character" more than YOU NEED TO PULL AND GET HER like the perception was before.
Also burning isn't viable for C6 Ganyu because she applies cryo too fast and you'll lose the burning aura, so that's some anti-synergy over NOT having C6.
Even if she "fell off" meta, I don't care haha. I like her and I need a good Cryo unit, plus got Aqua Simulacra by accident lmao. I just think for some reason she will be super useful in Fontaine, thinking about the future 👀
she didn't fall off, it's just that characters that are capable of making as much damage as her while being easier/more fun to play were released
I'm relatively new, and Ganyu was my first DPS and has carried me most of my playtime. I definitely recommend her, she is really good imo having both area damage and concentrated on her charge. Love her design as well. I have seen better results now with Ayaka, but I love them both so much have been using them together a lot of the time with Kokomi and Sucrose for Freeze.
I think you miss 2 HUGE factors: 1) she's dirt cheap comparatively speaking; a C0 that can deal as much damage as she can (with 4* weapons) is insane. 2) she can be used as a burst bot and a main dps. These two factors in itself is a decent enough reason to say she's a must-pull. If you have spent around $2000 every month the last year she might've fallen off but for most players she's an absolute BEAST and this "Zhongli or gtfo" is just an old mindset for people stuck in 1.2
I have some history Ganyu. I was head over heels for her when she came out, but I lost 50/50 and couldn't claim my guarantee due to covid. I finally got her on her rerun and I have always had success in The story and end game content. Funny enough I'm a console player and I got the predator bow which *_*KINDA*_* works LOL
But everything you said so far about her is true. Even with Dehya mitigating damage and blocking some crowd control.. Ganyu is good but can't do everything. I still love her to pieces tho.
As an AR35 veteran, i accidentally pulled Ganyu though I am aware that she's not "the best" anymore, but I always have good supports so it wasn't that bad. I run a burn-melt team overworld with Kazuha, Bennet, and Nahida (really want to challenge myself without a shielder). Got a bit frustrated being knocked around by enemies and it was the hardest comb I have played so far (previously it was Yanfei burgeon, Miko AFK quicken, Ayato freeze), but I enjoy the snipping none the less.
Besides, due to the insane stackable crit rate of the cryo characters, I highly suspect that when we get to Fontaine underwater regions are designed in a way that the water can freeze the character in their own hitbox in return and these mechanics can be moved to at least half of the spiral abyss, making Ayaka freeze a little tricky to play while Ganyu's CA can make sure that she stays outside her own hitbox, and I think when we get underwater abyss, there may be a new variation of Ganyu: Fridge Ganyu with Ganyu doing cryo DPS and nahida doing the blooms.
