  • A documentary film about Paul Charles Denyer, an Australian serial killer currently serving three consecutive sentences of life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 30 years for the murders of three young women in Melbourne, in 1993. Denyer became known in the media as the Frankston Serial Killer as his crimes occurred in the neighboring suburbs of Frankston. Later, during her imprisonment, when aged around 30, Denyer began identifying as a transgender woman but was refused permission by prison authorities to wear make-up, receive sex reassignment surgery, or legally alter his name.

If my kid had engaged in cruelty to animals growing up, I would have ran screaming to the nearest child psychiatrist and begged for help with him/her. A healthy kid doesn't engage in cruelty against innocent beings.

I have a friend who has a daughter that became really dark especially after a younger sister was born. Her daughter threatened to kill the baby and started to kill the baby twice. In the meantime, my friend was trying to get help for her older daughter but she said health professionals would not take her seriously. She did finally find a place that took her daughter in for treatment but it was out-of-state. I work in the schools as my friend and I've seen a few other children with no emotion and are cruel to animals and others, with the same story. Health professionals are wary to put a diagnosis on children for fear of a lawsuit for misdiagnosis. A Catch-22.

At the time of the murders, my three kids and I lived not far from where this monster lived. The lady whose cat had been tortured and mauled to death, lived in the same street as us. I remember how scared and angry our whole community was. My neighbour used to pick me up from the bus stop after work, then take me to pick up my sons from after school care. Just so we didn't have to walk all the way home in the dark. My daughter, who was in year 8, told me that, when she was in primary school, she and her friend used to take a short cut after school, through the very same park that poor Natalie Russell was murdered in. We all breathed a huge sigh of relief when that pathetic excuse for a human being was caught and jailed. I'm glad he got knocked back on his requests for gender reassignment surgery. I think he just dresses like that for attention. I hope that he never gets parole. I hope he keeps getting knocked back each time it comes up. There have even been theories that he might have been the killer of Sarah McDiarmid, whose body has never been found.

You couldnt walk down a street in the district without a police car driving past, day or night. Thier presence was incredible, but obviously not enough. His sister was at his house when the police came to arrest him, and all he said was "I knew you would be back", since they had already interviewed him previously. I didn't have a car then. So I walked around Frankston every day. At night we would hear the helicopters flying around. Deborah Fream's death affected everyone as she had a 10 day old baby and had only gone out for milk. The monster hid in the back-seat of her car. Natalie Russell went to a school that a lot of my friend's went to. The thought of this a hole getting out terrifies everyone of us who lived through those times. Complete and utter psychopath, no empathy, nothing, no good. His parole period is up which is sad as it’s a reminder to the families of the victims but also those of the community. Frankston is one of those areas most cities have that has a strong sense of its own community. At the time what he did really scared and later pissed off a lot of locals but also people across Melbourne on such a profound level. Don’t think I can recall as much anger towards a monster, it really struck a nerve. What he did wedged between larger known Mr Cruel abductions, the tragedy of Sheree Beasley, Sarah McDiarmid and latterly some of the crimes and capture of Peter Dupas. Wasn’t a good time for detectives (let alone community wise) in this state. Victorians also had poor relations and mistrust with an edgy police force in general too with home shootings as a repercussion of two young cops gunned down in the late 80’s and a bombing of HQ. It was a turbulent time.

I personally think it was more to the fact they were out numbered, population growth was and still is at a crazy rate. Remember the huge call outs and recruitment ads every where. Plus the fact government wasn't helping until shit hit the fan crime rates wise and they finally did start funding for them. Just my opinion tho?

There was the bombing of headquarters in Russell St and the Walsh St shootings of two young police officers. This happened again in the mid 90’s. As a result an edgy police force got a free reign for shootings of suspected criminals at their homes and in raids which was big news at the time. Let’s also not forget that Victoria was the hardest hit state for recession compared to the rest of the country. I think the population had an uneasy relationship with police and vice versa. Up in Sydney they had systemic corruption problems but Melbourne was violence and mistrust. Pt Arthur happened in 96 and guns were largely stamped out, not sure if this had any effect though.
Pretty sure late noughties, there were cuts to police numbers too.

@@Havencheese thx for the reply. There's always context you either don't know or forget. You're right, seems to have created a monster. The bombing and Walsh St were the same family, is that right? Dennis Allen the bombing then his brother and his gang Walsh St? We had the Fitzgerald inquiry in Queensland at the time, but nothing like Melbourne.

@@JohnnyDogs1978 It's been alleged. I think those incidents were a powder keg for policing in the next decade here. Not sure if this had wider implications possibly but yes, good policing by Bezzina and co. Yeah, Queensland cops had a real reputation for heavy handedness but for different reasons.

I’ve walked the tracks and lived in the streets of seaford and Frankston my whole life.
My mum was in England during this and her friends were all beside themselves, no one let there wife’s out the house, people were waiting for something to happen next.
This so called women will not be able to come back where he’s from, if I see him in the street mark my words he will not leave walking. Rip to the gorgeous souls lost by the hands of pure evil.

I really really hope that he never gets released until he gets out in a body bag. And I can’t believe he’s still alive considering all the prison documentaries I’ve seen where inmates hate people like him. I also think he started identifying himself as a transgender woman because he wanted to get into a women’s prison and continue his sick behavior.

I was locked up at Port Phillip Prison with Paul Denyer. This person if ever released, would most definitely kill again. In jail we had a billiard competition every month and one of the guys in the unit was writing up the names of the crims who were joining in the competition and Paul Denyer walked up to us and said to this guy... "Paul? You put my name down as Paul? And he got so angry he started throwing punches and saying my name is Paula not Paul, you know that. I also can say that this person has asked the prison officers to be put with new prisoners in order to take them "under his wing" but we all knew what was going to happen. Within a couple of days a new guy came in and Denyer was put with him. After a few days things seemed to be going okay and then one night, Denyer smashed this young guys head into the wall in order to knock the kid out and then he raped the poor young guy 😥
Plus I also am aware that Paul Denyer had a jail relationship with another nasty piece of work by the name of Paul Odgers. Google Paul Odgers and you'll see the nastiness in both
