Imagine just going through a creepy lair, your captain starts singing for no reason and then everyone starts harmonising. Then you get murdered i guess.
I think it’s scarier that they probably saw Scylla, just not all of her. They saw her at the “hello” then her transformation, and as she moved in the darkness all you can see is a slight shape of something huge moving, screaming, and the occasional head going down to bite someone
I like to think in the actual myth they where singing the entire time as well. ody’s just singing while they are all dying and the crew is just like “ captain stop singing we just lost Neo” and ody’s still singing “IM JUST A MANNNNN”
This would be cool with water noises and Scylla-feasting noises. The parts in between where Scylla was rising up felt a bit empty without the splashing of the water. But overall very good!!
Headcanon: Odysseus was the only one who could hear Scylla during the first half which is signified by her voice sounding more gentle, it didn't have a echo to it, but when they shined the light on her and she said 'hello' her voice was a echo. And when she was eating the crewmates, her voice became slightly distorted until near the end, where when she sang "we are the same you and I" her voice became gentle again without a echo and Odysseus acknowledged it by harmonizing with her. Given the theme of this song, emphasizing how Odysseus has become a monster, him being able to hear her when the others can't, could be a nod to the idea that only a monster can understand another monster.
Scylla reveal from 1:34 to 1:55 is honest to god even MORE terrifying without music, just the slowly unraveling of her monstrous body and the knowledge of what they are seeing sink in... I've never been more scared of Scylla then in that moment
before this, i never saw an animatic for scylla and I never realized that odysseus actually sacrificed six men. i thought he was running around the ship trying to save them, but he just stood at the mast. this song is a lot deeper then i thought, i finally know what scylla meant by “we are the same, you and i”
There's a lot of tiktoks in the author of the musical's account in which he explains what is actually happening in the songs, as lyrics can only go so far in describing events, there are a lot of little details that one might miss, I personally didn't notice that in "Wouldn't you like" at the end of the song the one that's screaming is Odysseus until I saw it in the coments of a animatic, apparently it was to show Ody's rush of power thanks to the Moly, beforehand I thought that the one screaming was Hermes depicting some kind of 'God madness'
Yeah, if you listen really really carefully to the song with high volume, or this version is easier, you can hear screaming 6 times, from the 6 men who were sacrificed to Scylla.
The only part missing here are the splashing sound and roarings of the other eel-morray heads. That'd have been scary as hell if you added them too without music!
When writing songs, the same principles are used as when writing poetry, in the latter silence is important when reciting, I think this version of the song explains that very well.
Gotta say, this proves that everything is scarier with music. The voices gave me chills, but in a good way! When I listen to it with music I get goosebumps 🫡 it shows how much small details they put into the voices
I really like this version! I just think the silence where the music is supposed to take over is a bit awkward, maybe because there's an animatic so stuff going on on screen. It makes me wonder how it would sound with realistic sound effects like when she reveals her true form there could be some fleshy crunchy sounds
all you need to do is add the water splashing whenever one of scylla's heads rises up to eat a crewmember/ducks back into the water, the faint sounds of her eating them, and the echo of her voice cause they're sort of in a tunnel
This is just incredible, the first part feel just so creepy without music, I do think that after the scylla reveal it feel a bit akward because the music there is a lot louder normally, but ody screaming "Raw for your life" hitted way harder here. Edit: Rewatching it, it's more the reveal of scylla itself that feels strange, because the animation is made keeping the music in mind.
The way this would actually scare the shit out of me if put in this situation, like the straight silence between "I opened the wind bag when you where asleep" and Scylla's reveal to "ROW FOR YOUR LIVES" plus actually being able to hear the screams
Did you even get permission to repost this? The amount of Epic reposting lately is just disgusting, just because you have an idea doesn't mean you take someone esle's work

youd be used to the first part tho considering he randomly bursts into songs sometimes lmao
Not unless you accidentally drop the torch before the big reveal because you had to tie your shoes*
Worth it
I like that the screen is darker, representing how they most likely saw Scylla's lair and actually didn't see Scylla
That’s literally how I see it as! A more realistic version of how they faced Scylla, no music and darkness.
IKR!! Adds to the ominous vibe
Even scarier, to some crew they probably only see their crew getting snatched into the darkness.

Pov:how it actually sounded
I think it’d have some crunching and squelching sounds, too.
There would be water sounds, a bunch of water noises
I like to think in the actual myth they where singing the entire time as well. ody’s just singing while they are all dying and the crew is just like “ captain stop singing we just lost Neo” and ody’s still singing “IM JUST A MANNNNN”

YES
I agree! This would've been more scarier with those.😭
True. Without any sound it looks kinda awkward:'0
Echoes aswell
@hi_imlaraD Oooh, it will give the lair ambiance (idk if I say it right? It feels weird?)
"Hello"
*awkward silence as she extends her long ass neck*
The way you could hear Scylla's demonic voice backing her vocals, and the screams of men

I think this is cannon because in one of his videos Jay said that in epic Scylla has some kind of telepathy.
"Hello" ..... ..... .... .... .... "ROW FOR YOUR LIVES" sort of had me laughing though.
Scylla reveal from 1:34 to 1:55 is honest to god even MORE terrifying without music, just the slowly unraveling of her monstrous body and the knowledge of what they are seeing sink in... I've never been more scared of Scylla then in that moment
it was funny for me idk
I've never been more turned on, honestly.

“Look me in the eyes and tell me captain that you did not just sacrifice six men”?
Scylla's scream singing sound even more beautifully terrifying without the instrumental music and if I could i would set it as my ring tone
imagine getting woken up with "DROWN IN YOUR SORROW AND FEARRRS" 🗣️🗣️🗣️
@noonelooksatusers feeling like shit right now I kinda am
It’s the way I didn’t even know they were screaming until now-
Yeah, if you listen really really carefully to the song with high volume, or this version is easier, you can hear screaming 6 times, from the 6 men who were sacrificed to Scylla.
the official animatic actually timed the screams with the crew being eaten! i watched that short more times than is probably sane
@ I’ll have to make sure I pay attention on the stream December 24th for Ithaca Saga!

This feels more like a horror movie like this. The chills I got!
Fxcking raw! You can more clearly hear the screams of the crew destined to die.
When writing songs, the same principles are used as when writing poetry, in the latter silence is important when reciting, I think this version of the song explains that very well.
I can't be the only one who thinks this is more ominous then when it had music.
You can hear the monster like voice without the music at 1:59
And the shouts/screams
@ well only 5 of them
I jumped so high when odi shouted row for your lives
Without music it turned into awkward comedy
At 0:47 and 2:38 you can just feel the tension of the pure silence
Gotta say, this proves that everything is scarier with music. The voices gave me chills, but in a good way! When I listen to it with music I get goosebumps 🫡 it shows how much small details they put into the voices
This def needs more views considering how long I’ve been trying to find this😭
Thx

The awkward silence 😭 1:37
This is absolutely haunting. Genuinely, great job.
The fact I listen to this so much I can imagine in the music
1:34 IS GOING TO GIVE ME NIGHTMARES, good job this was so good!
2:11 siento que scylla estaba también lamentándose por la forma actual que tiene gracias a circe
Honestly, how scylla reveals herself in absolute silence is quite unsetteling
Without the music, it feels so much more eerie and terrifying
I really like this version! I just think the silence where the music is supposed to take over is a bit awkward, maybe because there's an animatic so stuff going on on screen. This is who the people in the musical must feel
This is just incredible, the first part feel just so creepy without music, I do think that after the scylla reveal it feel a bit akward because the music there is a lot louder normally, but ody screaming "Raw for your life" hitted way harder here.

Horrific, I love it
omg, i like to believe when she's killing the crew, the heads are singing along with her
Damn, this was horrifying. Zeus be damned, I'd rather face him than this. At least then my death would be quick.
I will never get over the fact that crew's chorus is just amazing.
This is so amazing and spooky as hell . I LOVE IT!!
this just apeared for me, this is so cool!!
This just hits different
The way this would actually scare the shit out of me if put in this situation, like the straight silence between "I opened the wind bag when you where asleep" and Scylla's reveal to "ROW FOR YOUR LIVES" plus actually being able to hear the screams
This creeped me out but I love it so much
Oh my gods I freaking love this
The only thing that could make this worse in like some kind of sound playing when we see scylla and when she does... what ever that was.
Can you add other details like waves crashing into the boat, his crew rowing, and others (really brings it together)
This owuld sound dope with some SFX
honestly i love this.
I can still hear the music because my brain is filling in the gaps
chills
Add water sounds and the sounds of the serpents and it would be perfect
So good
It's so beautiful
Being able to actually hear the screams
Tishairgaibwia
THIS IS TERRIFYING, WOW
How did you even do this?
Holy sh1t her face looks scarier than the rest of her body. Probably because her eyes are completly open and humans mostly have them half closed
Add some echoing and it would be super eery...
Some sound effects will make this fire.
It is so cool
How do I @ Gigi??
you can't i dont think
I think it's useless, my mind kept tricking me the music is still there
how it sounded in the recording booth:
Yall, I put it in 2x speed 😭😭
Full speed ahead fr
maybe put a link to Gigi's animation, huh?
Hi! How did you remove the music? What filter did you use?
how did you do this?
