Penelope really said “I don’t give a flying Zeus about what you did and the fact that half the male populous of Ithaca are dead. Get over here, my husband, and let’s cuddle”
30:21 It makes sense for her to test him. Zeus in particular is known for shape shifting to trick women into sleeping with him, and other gods have done it too. He would not have been above impersonating Odysseus to seduce his grieving wife, so Penelope was smart to confirm.
Imagine if Zeus tried and Odysseus found out. Would’ve joined his brother in the Mount Olympus hospital with a couple dozen arrows sticking out of him like a pincushion
While that was the purpose in the Odyssey. In Epic she essentially used his response to the bed as a way to tell him he's the same person she fell in love with regardless of his actions. Her response to his anger is essentially "well only my husband knew that, so obviously you're the same man, now shut up and quit being stupid."

to the point that every other man says it’s impossible. Ody was just a man, but he was neither man or mythical, but also he is a monster. Ody has schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder
Here is a little lore for you! The bow was the old bow of Hercules, only a warrior was strong enough and had the skill to string it, none of the suitors were warriors though considering they didn't go to Troy
Hermes was his great grandfather, likely giving him an edge on things like strength and endurance. It’s my headcanon that’s why he got a second wind in 600 strike, it’s his divine blood kicking in to keep him alive.
Majority of the cast Ody himself, his parents (Ody’s mom and Hephaestus), Circe, Eurylochus, Hermes, The prophet, Telemachus, Penelope, Ares, Aphrodite, Zeus, Scylla are all in Ithaca Greece right now
30:21 the reason she did it is because Ody was trying to say that he wasn't the same person as when he left. And was essentially asking her to fall in love with him again. But by asking him to move the wedding bed and getting such an angry response she's essentially saying that since his love for her is unchanged he is the same man she fell in love with. In other words she was saying he was being stupid and to shut up because she'd always love him no matter what.
@@blueberry_borbSame. I wish ALL the reactors could react to the whole stream cause it could a a good refreshers AND would be fun seeing them react to the cast reaction/partying.😂
The reason they couldn't string that bow is because it is by means NOT a normal bow. It had an insane draw and literally only Odysseus could string it at all let alone draw it to fire an arrow. She literally gave them an impossible task.
Odysseus didn't even want to go to the damn war. Did everything he could to not go. Doesn't lose a man the whole time in Troy. Loses everything on the way home, all just to get back to the family he didn't want to leave in the first place
30:21 I interpreted this less as a test for Odysseus to prove who he is to Penelope, but rather a test to prove to Odysseus that he is still her husband
You do realize what the point of the song is right? It's meant to make you hate him, to feel uncomfortable. Its an icky song because the suitors are icky.
After listening to that last song again, I was crying like a baby. Her telling him she will love him again... it felt like a wife telling her husband that after they returned from the war here.
I got you, Scoot! The Challenge: Penelope is singing Hold them down: Yes, it is Antinous, yes, he did fight Telemachus(the prince/Odysseus son) in "Little Wolf. " Odysseus: Fun fact! The word Odysseus is sung to open the song and to end it! Also, not knowing it was Jorge singing as Odysseus.... I'll let it slide this time. And Polites sings "Open Arms" (I'll edit this as I watch)
@SamuelMatthews-s2w No one really Hence why they were scattered about and nervous in Odysseus. But a suitor named Amphinomus did find the weapons but was later killed by Telemachus when that one suitor said "Behind you!", that was Telemachus
The character(s) you’re thinking of: Hold Them Down: Antinous (Main leader of the Suitors) Open Arms: Polites Odysseus’ Son: Telemachus Yes, it is true that Telemachus had his mother, though she was not able to properly train him as Odysseus could’ve and that is why he isn’t able to fight in the wisdom saga. Yes, Odysseus leaves for war after Telemachus is born, relating to Just a Man when he compares Astyanax (Hector’s son/baby) to his own son in terms of age. In the original Odyssey, Penelope says the thing about the olive tree (wedding bed) to test Odysseus if he really was her husband because Athena helped him by disguising him as a beggar before he entered his palace and killed all the suitors. But in Epic, Odysseus wasn’t the disguised and Penelope knew it was him. But because he was so broken saying he “wasn’t the man she knew and loved” Penelope used the olive tree thing. When Odysseus reacted so strongly about it, she says “only my husband knew that so I guess that means it’s you” and goes on to say “I will always love you” telling him that no matter what, whether he came back as a “monster” he is still her husband

Nah the intrumental version of "just a man" playing at the end of the last song had me SOBBING

The back ground chants are saying "Ody- se-ues" Like how the names of the Cyclops and Poseidon were chanted in Polyphemus and Poseidon.
And the same way Polyphemus, Scylla and Charybdis... Odysseus gets his own name as the title of a song, like all the monsters he fought to get back
And like Scylla, he aimed for the torches.
