I have seagate barracuda 7200rpm, fortnite was dropping fps so much. Now moved to NVMe ssd and fps is super stable. If you got the same problem definitely change the HDD

I upgraded from a Toshiba HDD to a Kingston NV2 drive. I somehow got 50% more fps in GTA with the same settings. The only 2 things different besides the new SSD is that my GPU is now undervolted and the OS is now WIN11. Neither one changes the FPS that drastically, so it's surely the SSD giving the pc the extra performance.

Going from HDD SATA that was in the PS4 to upgrading the storage to a SSD SATA, that was a day and night on how smooth the game ran. But when I got my PS5 which has a custom M.2 SSD, it was a way bigger difference. The loading times we're even more significantly lower and even smoother gameplay because of that extra power and having an insanely fast storage on top of that.

I'm convinced NVME are great for certain workloads but for gaming a fast SATA SSD with SLC cache and a good controller works just as well. As NVME drives get cheaper and cheaper this will change but that is life.

I question though for your Sata SSD drives like how much information you have packed into it and how long you have been using it for because i own a Teamgroup L53D 2.5" SSD (before i swapped it for my 2tb Teamgroup AX2 drives) and for games like Horizon Zero Dawn the loading time i would get is more around 24 seconds and those are budget SSD's while the MX500 is an A-tier SSD so for you to get 35 seconds how much punishment did you put the drive through because filling it does lower the life span as well as making it perform slower.
Oh ya and depending on the size as well depends on the speeds as well for Sata SSD's.
