Seventh Circle Audio holds its own with the big dogs. I have the great fortune of comparing their stuff to "high-end" pres and they do great. Wonderful stuff.
On the proprietary chassis - their design offers more power to the units compared to 500 series power supplies. If you plan on buying a handful of their pres, go with their chassis.
SCA did recently announce they are going to develop 500 series versions of their pres for those who want to stay in the 500 series ecosystem.
Totally agree regarding the plain look. I bought different colored knobs in the "api" or "neve" flavor to distinguish one unit from the other. Cheap and easy solution.

Like their output per channel is Higher than 500mA ?
Actually, I'm planning on investing on Mic Pres in the next years, and this could be an option. Advantage is it's lower in terms of space than a 500series.
Cons, the PSU isn't separated, and only API or Neve clones ... So yeah, still need to think about it.

Hi, Barry! I’m loving your channel. Thanks for sharing all this info. I’m hunting for my first 500 series pre, and I’d like something in the Neve family. Have you compared the Audioscape v1290 to the Avedis MA5 by chance?
    Thanks!

I have used the MA5 amd it’s great, have not used the AS, but everything else I’ve been able to use has been amazing. You can’t go wrong with either.

LOL!!! At first I thought you were going to talk about the Seventh Circle of Hell. HA! Yep, the proprietary housing is a mistake. As their pieces are pretty compact, perhaps they can offer stereo 500 series modules. Also, they might as well offer 19" rack stereo units that could transform small home studios. I agree about the looks. They may want to consider a "retro" hand-built look like Shadow Hills or Warm Audio WA-MPX.

Quick note, CAPI stands for Classic Audio Products Inc.
So saying “CAPI audio” is like saying, classic audio products audio 😂
Love the videos!! Keep it up! Also, I’m a little bummed out that UA didn’t release a major interface update like you predicting. I guess you are human!
    Cheers!

I actually enjoy the look! I got the BLA73 pre for our project studio and have been loving the sound and look. But you are right about distinguishing them. I want to get a 8 channel CH02 and fill it with some good pre's! but if I didn't just get 8 of the same one, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference! lol wish the knobs changed between the different kits or layout.

Could you do a video on midi learn. Several older controllers might need some buttons, sliders learnd in the daw of choice.

I have the TB12, it is built like a tank and the different tones you can get out of it with separate controls for transformers, capacitors and amp are great.

That’s a good one, I literally busted out laughing when I read that. Never in my life have I been described as nervous about anything either to do with this TH-cam channel or my personal life have I ever been described like that.
Overconfident, yeah, I’ve heard that quite a bit in my life, but never nervous, never, I’m still laughing 😂
