You're such a generous cobbler. My cobbler charges 50 dollars for having to clean the shoes if they're not in a clean state for repair. I thought he was unreasonable.... I understand WHY now.
A good clean and polish at my local cobbler is 16 bucks but he doesn't do anything close to the services this guy does. He wouldn't repair the shoe and he doesn't deal with glue on soles. He only deals with welted soles.
Lol. You bring in a filthy caked on dirty shoe or boot...(Because you obviously don't want to clean it, you want to PAY someone to do it), but... when the cobbler says, "$50 extra please", you act like HE is being unreasonable. Bahahahahahahahaha!!! Now that...is funny.
What a wonderful person! There would be some sadness for folks that neglect their leather items. Still, what a joy to bring them back again! Our dream job! We were lucky to find and subscribe to this TH-cam channel! Thank you Tring shoe repair & key shop!
Nice work indeed Dan and well done on the restoration, but this video is a good example for any horse riders to not let their leather riding/competition boots to get into such a bad state before having them professionally cleaned and resoled. No excuse for not making the effort to at least clean the boots lroperly before leaving them into a reputable cobbler for repairs and making the effort to keep your belongings in better order. Well done and keep up the good work, sir. Cheers 😎👍🍻
Excellent and beautiful work as you do. Its neither here nor there but I noticed that the way you polish with the brush is just like my Dad showed me I wont say how many years ago lol. So I was very impressed. Great vid!
I love your Channel it reminds me of when I was a kid living in Detroit we had a shoe repair shop in our neighborhood we all used to go up there and watch him repair shoes it was great
@5:15 All riders go 😱😱😱 “Noooo, don’t put polish on the inside calf of riding boots!” The customer should have told you that-they will have to deal with their lower leg sliding around on the saddle after that! 🤣 Otherwise, fascinating stuff, really cool video!
I would have loved to have seen the customers reaction to this awesome repair!!! Well done you!!!!! How did you learn your craft at such a young age?? Was your father a cobbler?? I’m extremely impressed with your talent.
Old Russian Joke: Natasha Rostova attends her first formal ball and dances with Pierre Bezukhov: "Pierre, isn't that grease on your collar?" / "Oh my, how could I miss such a terrible flaw in my costume, I'm totally destroyed!" [he retreats in shame] / Then, she dances with Kniaz Bolkonsky: "Andrew, isn't there a spot of sauce on your tunic?" [he faints] / Finally, she's dancing with Rzhevsky: "Poruchik, your boots are all covered in mud!" / "It's not mud, it's shit. Don't worry, mademoiselle, it'll fall off once it dries up."
Love the channel. Takes me back to my childhood in Guatemala when my older cousins were cobblers and ahoe makers. Please quit ruining your coffee by adding augar. You are killing yourself. 😎👍😁 BTW Dan, I think you are awesome at your craft. We want you to be around for a long time. 👍👍👍👍
Great video Dan. Most people would have put those boots in the trash. That is an amazing job you did restoring those boots. The joke is very funny, it made me laugh out loud. Jeff
Dan, you amaze me. Seems nothing in leather you can’t handle. Do you also refurbish chaps and motor cycle jackets? Seems leather is your calling. You rock.
My wading boots have vibram soles. The soles /heel include 12 pin size openings to screw in cleats to help grip onto moss covered rocks along the riverbed. These holes no longer hold the cleats. Is there a glue that will weld the hold close so the cleats will hold? Or is there a material that can be glued inside the hole so the cleats can be secured to the sole/heel
what's made of leather and sneezes... a shoe! hahaha nice one! This is shoe is so beat up, great work in fixing it! I was really curious how you could fix something in this state.
Doesn't really matter what it is covered in. In my time you'd change to wellies when not actually riding. People really do have too much money. Not a way to treat a pair of expensive boots. I purchased my first really expensive boots as a teenager. Double lining and all the good stuff. I kept them really nice and clean all the time, which meant that I could sell them 12 years later for the same price that I had purchased them for. They were originally so expensive that the makers ended up going belly up.
Wonder if the owner of these boots will finally take care of them properly after the repair ... it would be pointless repairing them if not. As you say, too much money obviously.
Bom dia meu irmão. Parabéns seu trabalho e excelente mesmo . Que Deus ti abençoe meu irmão. Que vc continue sendo esse jovem talentoso e esse grande profissional .
I am trying to figure out where you live. Do you live in the states. The reason I am asking is you dream to be the only one that seems to know how to replace a zipper when it comes apart from the material. I live in Michigan, I miss wearing my boots. They are Hartley Davison boots. Also my winter boots.
If they're riding boots then presumably the owner uses them for riding. As I've been lumbered with cleaning my daughter's horsey footwear I can attest that Stables, boxes & yards are very mucky places. 😂 Great job on the boots by the way.
Я только начал смотреть. Он видимо сначала, после мойки ,начинает жировать (шампунь очищающий? )и восстанавливать кожу... Хз задом наперёд.... Потом низ делает...
Dan, considering you did an Aussie themed video for the shoes that came from Down Under, you need to do a shirtless video as a cowboy for your next equestrian themed job... Thanks in advance ;-)
I'm into shoes and boots, but I've gotta say, Dan seems to be into footwear in a massive way. Not saying he is a shoe fetishist or anything, but there is a lot of love there.
I'm a bit curious. Did your passion come from your career, or did your passion evolve your career? Don't get me wrong, I have every respect for your abilities, and can see by your posts that you have an incredible amount of manual dexterity, borne out of a lifetime of doing your amazing craft. Your trade is rare, and kudos to you. I myself trained as a traditional signwriter in the mid 80"s, a skill now shadowed by machines run by computer. It is fantastic to see your craft kept alive , very professionally I might add. I genuinely love boots and shoes. Not in a 'sneaker' fanatic way, but in general. I love polishing my leather shoes and boots, and can appreciate a sexy pair of stilettos on a beautiful lady. My wife and kids constantly take the Mickey out of how many pairs I own. It's fascinating to watch you working, especially in a world of throwaway culture. Keep up the good work, and all the luck in the world to you.
Riding boots should ideally have a 1" heel from the sole. This is to prevent the foot sliding through and getting stuck in the stirrup. If this happens and you fall off, you'll end up getting dragged behind the horse with your leg getting broken and you'll end up being trampled as the horse runs off. The owner of the boots should have let you know this beforehand, but it's an easy mistake to make if you don't ride.
@@Dan_the_cobbler usually your upper body is getting bounced about on the ground while one leg is hung up, so it's the back legs that are landing on your head and chest area, maybe an arm or both if the riders unconscious. You also tend to see the rider bouncing up and down on the ground like a rag doll. Just type in the TH-cam search bar, horse rider gets dragged, and you'll see loads of videos on it. It can be quite gruesome to watch.
I would be extremely embarassed to send boots that are covered in so much mud in... I mean its your boots and you should clean them yourself. Not have the guy reparing them do that.
good job there and attention to detail is great, what contact adhesive do you use and how long do you heat it up before putting the two parts together ?
You are really a professional! I don't understand why this crap needs to be repaired? the client is obviously a pig - or rather a greedy pig. here in Moscow they wouldn't even take it for repairs. Rather, I think they would not even think of carrying such a repair, they would simply throw it away and buy new ones.
This is encouraging--I have a pair of riding boots I was about to give up on but now I think a bit of cleaning and nourishing the leather could well bring them back to life. They need some repairs, but I don't suppose you do international repairs, do you??
Yes, less extensive repairs are done all the time for the regular customer who wants affordability plus quality, the extra touches are for special jobs 👌
I am making this comment at the beginning of the vid----- these riding boots are ragged-out! I am very interested to see what magic you wield on these ones. Good luck! haha
Dan says "thanks for watching" and many of us say "Thanks, Dan, for being awesome."
Amazing how people don't even bother to clean their shoes when bringing them to cobbler. Excellent job, you're a good soul
You're such a generous cobbler. My cobbler charges 50 dollars for having to clean the shoes if they're not in a clean state for repair. I thought he was unreasonable.... I understand WHY now.

speaking as a horse owner, that's not mud on those boots...
😂😂😂
Horseshit or mud? The owner apparently doesn't know the concept of wellies.
I would have thought the horsey whiff when the leather got wet would've given it away
😂😂😂👍🏻
Thought that mud had a greenish look to them. LOL
This channel has opened my eyes to what can be repaired. Wish I did not throw out my old Ecco boots.

Beautiful restoration job mate. I am always amazed how cobblers likes you can bring broken foot ware back to life.
It would be good if we could get the customer’s reaction.
“These are covered in mud!” Sorry to tell you, that’s not mud! 🐴💩

Great interesting videos. Can I ask sometimes you colour the edge of shoe soles with a black dye? Can you tell what it is you use please? TIA.
Wouldn't u replace the foot bed and cork? It looks pretty worn.?

nice restauration, maybe also changing the insole , so that the parts with cork filling are more resistant , regards
This is so satisfying. Don’t know why there aren’t more subs.

You might have said before, but why let the glue dry, then re heat to stick together? Why don't you stick together while the glues first painted on?
What's the cost of renovating those pair of shoes? Looks very nice
That is an incredible restoration.
The elves and the shoe maker. Dan needs to start making his own
Awesome skill there Dan 👍
Love the boot repair. Amazing
Woke my wife laughing at Dan’s joke. A shoe!
The come out was great - but why just Facebook no IG?
Aren't those heels too low for riding boots?

great job reviving those beautiful boots....
. . . another fantastic job mate!
Wow! I would love those to ride my Harley with! Metal and all! Where do I purchase these boots?
Come visit the beautiful beaches here in the Philippines.. love you Dan ❤️🥰
Bloody hell, it's like a new pair of boots! Master piece!
Have you heard about hydrolysis?
So, what would the cost of repairs on these boots be, versus the cost to buy a similar new pair?
These definitely should have had a new foot bed along with all the major work done.
Hi Dan, what type of glue do you use. Regards Dave.
I hope they take better care of their feet than they do their boots. Great job as usual.
Very impressive job!
Great restoration Sir!!!
Thank you! Cheers!

any reason to not fill the holes in the sole's heal with cork?
Anyone know the music he uses? The intro music and the music around 13:20
Great videos. What is the glue that you use?
Ashoe indeed LOL Never thought that I would be watching a shoe repair man working on his magic on youtube.
Riding boots caked in mud...thats not mud..what else do you find on the floor of a horse stable besides hay..?
when he mentions muddy shoes and what hes done? Mud comes with the horse life :'( My poor riding boots get destroyed...
You did a super job Dan!

You never black the inside leg of a riding boot it stains the saddle flap and you also loose grip! Nice repair though!
Would that cherry renovater do for saddles also ?

Colle de cologne by Reina. Heat for about 5 minutes :)
