    As someone else has stated. You will loose accuracy and possibly damage your optic bridging the scope rings from the upper to the handhuard. Handguards will flex slightly, especially when loading a bipod, causing a shift in POI. Furthermore, the scope rings mounted this way will not be perfectly aligned which pits stress on the scope tube and internals. One piece mounts with forward offset are designed specifically for the AR platform.

      amen!!! that is the number one reason people I guide miss a follow up shot. I am guilty of it too in my bc .450 bushmaster. mounted a sig romeo in between the space of the hand guard and receiver for an absolute co witness ( brush bangy) jam every follow up. it need flexion to operate properly

    • @traumaisbest
      @traumaisbest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Don't know how anyone with some degree of AR experience would mount a scope like that.

    • @Mike-xi4zt
      @Mike-xi4zt ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a solid barrel nut underneath that part of the handguard and if you look at the bolts on the handguard it bolts right up to that barrel nut which is right underneath where the scope ring is. could there be a small amount of flex? Yes there could be a micro amount. but almost zero . where that scope ring is. because that handguard is clamped onto the barrel nut. I use three aluminum scope rings, not steel, and put the forward one out on the handguard where the barrel nut supports the handguard. I've been doing that for the last 20 years without any problem. Steel scope rings will destroy an aluminum body scope. They work just like a wheel pipe cutter and push metal out on both sides of the steel ring. Especially on heavy recoiling cartridges like the 300 Winchester mag. So anyone who has experience of actually putting a handguard onto a receiver would know that the back part of the handguard is fully supported by the barrel nut but someone who does not have any experience with an AR would make a statement like you made.

    • @lonnlaursen496
      @lonnlaursen496 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mike-xi4zt keep doing you, Mike. If you want to use insults, here's one for you. You are a moron for bridging scope rings between an AR upper receiver and a handguard. There is a reason why they make 1 piece scope mounts for ARs. I suppose everyone in the industry is wrong.

    • @Mike-xi4zt
      @Mike-xi4zt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lonnlaursen496 again you still don't know what the hell you're talkin about. Those cantilever mounts were designed for the old style handguards that were not free-floating and did not have a rail on them to mount anything on. So you're the one showing your are the true moron who does not know anything about what he's talking about. A handguard that is free floating has a barrel nut that the back part of the hand guard clamps onto or bolts onto and the back part of the hand guard is fully supported by a steel barrel nut. The front part of the hand guard is not supported it is free floating the back part where that scope is mounted to is not free floating. You truly are exhibiting lack of knowledge.

    Built a super budget in 350 back in Jan of 2021. BCA 16" upper, side charger (which I love). Anderson lower, PSA lower build kit with tube and butt stock and a couple pf CMMG 20-round 350-specific mags. Initially had a Sightmark M-SPEC reflex sight on it, but have since moved that to my 300 Blk pistol and topped the 350 with a SIG Bravo 3 prism sight. First several boxes of ammo I ran through it were the Winchester 150 grain Xtreme-Points. Out of 3 boxes I had one malfunction, similar to yours. After that, it's run 100% flawlessly with everything I've fed it, EXCEPT for the Browning 124-grain FMJ. That ammo uses the round nose pistol type bullets and it does not like those. Everything else has been perfect, including the 145 grain Winchester FMJ. It shoots MOA at 100 yards all day, and has even turned in some sub-MOA groups.
    As for lube, I started using the mix that Chad over at the School of the American Rifle channel uses (if you haven't seen his videos, I highly recommend his channel, extremely knowledgeable on all things AR-15). It's a mix of Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil and Mobil 1 synthetic grease (the red stuff). Mix to roughly the consistency of a thick syrup. It's super slick and I run my AR's wet with it. Never any issues.
    The thing with BCA is, it's a hit or miss with their stuff. But on the good side, they stand behind their products, so if you have an issue they'll fix it or replace it with no hassle. If you don't mind possibly having to deal with the delays of a return, you're not going to beat their prices. I have several of their uppers in different calibers and I've been fortunate as all are good runners and shooters. Just built a 20" DMR in 6.5 Grendel using a BCA stainless side charging upper. Straight out of the box with 123-grain Hornady Black ammo it's shooting sub MOA at 100 for the few rounds I had on hand. Bought some Star Line brass and some bullets to work up loads, but winter has set in, so won't get the chance to play with it much until things warm up.

      @@buellboy007 For Deer, 350 Legend, no question. 300 Blackout isn't bad, and could potentially extend your range (depends on where you hunt). 350 is a thumper though. 7.62x39 due to it's odd sized .311 diameter bullets just doesn't have the bullet selection you'll find with the other two.

      Great comment through and through. A lot of folks look down their nose at Anderson lowers; but I've got to say I've never had an issue with any of the budget builds I've done while using them.
      Likewise with the BCA side charging uppers. The only downside I've found with them, is having to unscrew the handle to remove the bolt.
      Wondering if there's any way to completely open up the side of the upper to facilitate just sliding it out without compromising the integrity of the upper (I'm guessing no). Don't want to hack a donor upper to find out though. Haha

    • @edwardlance2379
      @edwardlance2379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gierhedd75 Haven't had any issues with them, either, but I only have 2. One of my local shops sells A17 lowers. A bit nicer in shape and better finish for only a few more bucks, but I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at an Anderson.
      The killer with the AR is it is a simple design, but tolerance stacking can make an expensive one not run or shoot worth a hoot. Just because someone goes and buys a couple thousand dollars in parts in no way guarantees they're all going to assemble and work well together.

    I have a .450 that had the same problems. I used the little sanding drums on my rotatory tool and made a u shaped cut about half of the depth of the sanding drum. I found that as the spring tension got less when fewer of the rounds were in the mag that the round would tend to tilt slightly down as it was being stripped out of the mag. I ended up with a slightly deeper cut in the mag to help clear up the same exact problem you are having here. I hope it helps.

    Seems like you analyzed the feeding problem somewhat. I have one of the first BCA uppers, Magpul and RUGER ( made by Magpul (mine)) after determining there was interference from lug on feed ramps( there are 2) it was blended and ramps polished after 2 fail to feed in 1st 10 with the 5 rd mags. The upper has fired , Browning, Winchester, Federal, and Hornady without any fail to feed ,fire, or eject over 400 rounds demonstrating sub MOA to 1.5 “ at 100 yd range with Warne cantilever mounted Leupold 3x9 Optics over receiver ( not bridged to hand guard) IMPORTANT NOTE: While I developed a .35 cartridge based on .223 brass in 1979 fired out of 10” T/C for handgun silhouette and since has been duplicated by others, including Starline .223 straight wall blank. THE .350 Legend commercially loaded cartridge has a 9MM .378 CASE HEAD AND .391 BASE DIMENSION at least .015 median greater than the .376 BASE DIMENSION OF THE .223 or 5.56 NATO Cartridge. While original .350 cartridge development may have utilized the .223 case. For reliable extraction the chamber size was determined to be tapered enough to facilitate that condition. So basically you have a 9MM Super Magnum or 9 MM Maximum. NOT A 35/223. FYI. Your end conclusion recognizing the development stages of a product and BCA to accommodate their customer base was an excellent ending on a positive note. Especially when you added its excellent choice as a deer cartridge. Please repost your continued experiences with the .350 Legend.

Am I correct in saying that you can only load three rounds in the rifle at a time while hunting? Get the 5 round Duramags and i think all of your problems will go away. First I have dremeled some mags for a friend of mine for 223 where the rim of the case was catching. They now work fine. I didn't take off so much. In these 350s, there are a few things it could be. Industry uses 2 styles of feed ramps. The single ramp, and enlarges m4. Ive seen more issues with the m4 style. Ive heard also if the barrel extension isnt true with receiver how receiver and barrel extension meet, sometimes there can be a slight lip that can hang your bullet up. Not sure if others have the issue too, but seen more jams with hornady ammo. Not sure, but by eye brass looks to be slight enough thicker maybe it hangs on the magazine lip easier.

      It's not the magazine. It's the upper, I tried trouble shooting it by modifying the mag but it didn't help. It's an upper issue. CMMG is also the magazine that BCA recommends and sells on their website. Why recommend a magazine that would cause issues?

    • @billjensen6216

      @Armor Plated Adam according to your video, after modification to your magazine, it ran flawless. So, are you thinking of the feed ramps? Head spacing? Possible ammo or possible gas block alignment? Let us know what you find out. BCA isn't all bad, but they have their moments with QC.

Get in there with a barrel mop that is tight in the chamber with some fine diamond polish and a drill and go a little at a time until the tooling ridges are smooth.
