It’s not “lowest dwarf wins the trick”. It’s “losing player takes all dwarves into their score pile.” So the winner (per usual rules: highest card, etc.) still leads the next trick, they just don’t get to score any dwarves. Great video! You're right! I misunderstood that rule completely! Thanks for pointing that out. And it's only in phase 2, and only the dwarf cards played that trick.
The mini versions you refer to are called Claim Pocket & Claim Pocket 2 There are Pocket versions for the first three Reinforcements expansion as well.

7:45 If I read the rules correctly then, if a player can't follow suit, they automatically lose the trick so the dwarf would go to their score pile.
