This is very good dramatized documentary. The acting was superb, and the fact that the actress who played Sadam's daughter was a narrator and unfolding the story from her perspective made it even more powerful!
In late 70s , one of my father's colleague worked in Iraq as professor of Anatomy in Baghdad in a Medical University. He used to earn as a professor pretty well with very good salary. At that time Iraq was a thriving economy, He used to tell us ( then as children ) that this country is one of the wealthiest in Middle East. Those days my own father was working as a professor of Physiology in Libyan Arab Jamahiriya University. At that time all Libyans were having free Homes , Free Education , Free Loans , and Free Medicine. And when it reached to 1983-84 ( Not sure ) he came back, and then it all began. Iraq was in Ruins, Economy all gone to Dogs. Same happened to Libya after some decades.
Israel is worse than Saddam Hussein, but because it is a friend of America and Europe, no one can criticize it, although Saddam Hussein initially had good relations with America, and America did not say that he was a dictator until a year later. 90, even though Saddam Hussein was president for 35 years
This docu must've won many many accolades for captivating us the audience. From the acting to the writing everything was perfect and felt alive. I felt that I was there watching the troubles of the family unraveling. Excellent, Excellent.

The movie is called "The Devil's double", and Dominic Cooper who play Uday and the body double did a very poor job at playing Uday in that movie. Daniel Mays, the actor who play Uday in this movie/documentary (the docu/movie is called "Saddam's tribe: Bound by blood" btw did a wayyyy better job at playing Uday accurately. And also, the real Raghad (the daughter of Saddam Hussein) guided/helped the director when he was making this movie. That's why they were able to potray Uday accurately in this movie than the one in "The Devil's double". I'm middle eastern so accents to me go a long way. The actors in house of saddam were middle eastern so when they talked they had the middle eastern accents down perfectly the actor who played saddam reminded me of my dad that's how he sounds when he talks with his accent lol.
I expected this to be a bit cheesy and lame, like most low budget docudramas I've seen, but it got real compelling real quick and the acting was surprisingly good. Thanks for sharing.

Dude I watched this documentary on television somewhete around 2008-09 when Our family had bought a new TV......this documentary was started at around 10 Pm in night & ended around 11:30 pm....i remembered because my father used to scold when watched tv at night....that i watched this documentary at very low sound....Now feeling nostalgic...& This is very old documentary...

I am so glad I stumbled across this, it is so good! The fantastic settings and tasteful use of actual historical footage really help to make the story feel more realistic. Even though I do think they took an unnecessary artistic liberty with the death of the Kamel family, the superb acting throughout the film makes up for it. You know the performance is solid when you almost feel sympathy for the man behind the monster.
This doc has made me realize just how much Sadam was misjudged and i can tell that most of his later actions were all attributes of human nature. All he did was to try to protect his country especially knowing that he was surrounded by many enemies. Then the other problem as always is the effect of America and Europe giving themselves a selfimpossed title of World Police Force. With all these elements and also the battles in his family I feel he was pushed beyond any human limits, he had so much pressure on him hence he just bursted into a monster in the end all in aim to survival. So sad. Sometimes the UN before making certain moves should be getting the leaders involved for a special interview with the aim to get the truth of were they are standing coz Iraq has never been at peace after Sadam's death. just like Libya after Gaddafi's death.
If the daughter was Hussein's wisest child, that explains the problem right there. She couldn't even figure out that her psychopath of a father would kill her husband if they returned.

Great video. I lived and worked in Iraq from 1986 to 1989, so this 'dramamentary' was of great interest to me. One particular memory I have - which was likely a lucky escape - was brought back to me by mention of the fact that Uday was in charge of the Iraqi IOC. The Iraqi IOC HQ was on Palestine Street ( probably still is) and adjacent to that building there is/was a small lake. I sometimes went to that lake on Fridays to waterski. On one particular Friday, we were all sitting at the lakeside when I noticed that the several Iraqis present got up and disappeared without a word into the small changing room/facilities building on the edge of the lake. On their return, I queried one of the other Brits present as to why they had suddenly disappeared. The reason? Uday had paid a visit to see what was going on but he did not emerge onto the lake side. So that was the day that I nearly got to meet Uday. I'm so so glad it was only 'nearly'! The guy was an absolute nutter. It was well known that he would cruise up and down the Al Mansour district in the evenings looking for women, so not really a great surprise that that was the scene of an assassination attempt.
The way he played Uday is spot on The real life uday was an absolute psycho plus not to mention he did the most evilest and sadistic things that turn your stomach

To anyone who loved this, the movie the ‘Devil’s Double’ is absolutely magnificent. It’s through the eyes of the oldest psychopathic son Uday and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it more than twice. Impeccable acting and an absolutely intriguing story line and production. Starts from the beginning of the late 1980’s. I cannot say enough about the actor portraying Uday and his double! Award worthy really!

I am Vietnamese and in our country the most important thing is to be grateful to the person who helped us. we were taught about world leaders who helped our people and country, including Mr. Saddam Hussein. Mr. Hussein deserves to be compared with the greatest leaders in the world. (certainly not including the leaders of China and the US)
