Kodak Gold 200 in a Small Town with Pentax K1000 Photowalk and Film Camera Settings Explained

  • I blew the dust off my Pentax K1000, loaded a roll of Kodak Gold 200, and headed to a small town southwest of Indianapolis named Brooklyn, where I used a roll of 24 exposures. Nothing too exciting, but I did have a chance to shoot a couple of people who were business owners in the small town, along with their buggy, and a couple shots of the town hall and library. I'm hoping these will have a nostalgic feel to them, but never know until you get the negatives/scans back.

K1000 is my favourite camera. I bought a used one in 1996. It was made in 1978. I used it professionally for motorsports shootings, interviews, travel shots etc. I regret for selling it. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing 😇

I really appreciate the fact that you tell us the aperture and the shutter speed. It is great help for beginners!

Glad to hear that! Thanks! But keep in mind, basically when it comes to the K1000, I'm just going by what the built-in light meter is telling me. I'm terrible at guessing lol

Hi Jason, the Pentax K1000 is one of the best mechanical cameras. I still use it regularly next to my Minolta X500. Keep on shooting.

My first camera was a K1000, waaaay back in the 80s, probably the best camera to learn the basics.

I've used many film cameras, and always come back to the comfort of the K1000!

These shots look nice, I personally love the way gold looks. When metering for the bright outdoor scenes sunny 16 can help.

I also got mine back in the 1980's. I just Recently tucked it out of the closet Put a new battery in it and I'm having fun with it again I feel like a kid again. Still works great. Hard to kill them. Good job with the video. Keep having fun.

I got just a Pentax K1000! I was wondering what other films would you recommend to use ?

I typically just stick with Kodak 200 for color film because it's the easiest and cheapest for 'learning and experimenting.'

How did you digitize your film? I’m getting into film photography and just curious how you personally went about making it digital

I've used both DSLR method, and an epson v600 scanner. The scanner is easier for me, even if not the 'best' results.
