A thousand tiny mistakes

- Highs and lows in the life of an oil painter this week. I captured a tricky landscape in a way I'm really happy with so I was well chuffed with that. Slight downer was some mouldy paintings in my rather decrepit studio. Any thoughts on tackling that much appreciated!
Beautiful painting. Please be safe.🙏
I really love that painting Benmo, it has a wonderful energy and the style is reminiscent of Van Gogh. Mould is tricky to get rid of properly... prevention is better than cure. As someone else mentioned, paint the backs, maybe use anti-fungal/bactericidal paint recommended for kitchens & bathrooms. A dehumidifier would help but costly to run. Would it be possible to store your paintings indoors somewhere warm and dry? I empathise with you... lost various belongings to mould living in damp digs in Highland Scotland in the past.
Thanks @redwing3969. I can't help but be chuffed with a comparison with VVH!
Just come across your channel. Van Gogh was first thing that came to mind. (From someone who knows nothing about painting).
Mold is is really bad news, wear gloves, mask and goggles and clean it off with bleach (diluted) and as the prevous commenter said prime all the bare Wood. Your painting however is stunning and I loved the noisy geese flying overhead. Good luck with the mold clean up. I'm going to check my studio tomorrow.
Thanks Anita! Will do. It does seem to be fairly light and only on the surface. Yes, the geese were a happy accident! Hope all is well in your studio
A little vinegar mixed with water might work well to get rid of that mold off by wiping. I love your work and that studio!
Oo, that's a top tip! Thanks for joining me! :)
Unbelievably amazing!
So sorry about the mold. Looks like it favors unpainted/unprimed surfaces so maybe just a coat of paint on the backs of supports and frames will help in the future. An extra step, but I hate to think of you breathing spores. I do love the rich, exciting surfaces of your paintings and your thoughtful execution. So rewarding for the viewer.
Thanks @Susiachi, I'm thinking that perhaps I need to use a varnish on the backs / frames. My neighbour the joiner has had some success with this. Have a great weekend!
Nice painting Benmo.
Thanks Seamus! I feel like it's cleared a bit of artist's block and I've been busy painting this week.
