Excited to plant thyme as ground cover instead of mulching under some trees. Wish me luck!

Thank you! I’m learning so much from you! I just started my first vegetable garden this years. No fertilizer, no pesticides…. My cilantro looks amazing and taste amazing… and it’s in full sun.

Lovage is such an under represented herb.
Related to parsley …but tastes like celery
Easy to grow, hardy and gets really tall.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Nicole for this very helpful video. I live in Canada zone 5B. Today, I just brought outside all the herbs that I started from seed in my basement. And I was wondering where to plant them in my raised beds or Greenstalk planters, wondering how I was going to find enough space with enough sun for all my mint, dill, parsley, thyme. Your video has just changed the game for me. I will be able to use some more shady spaces in my yard. This is great. Thank you. 😺

I have a U-shaped raised bed and I like to plant my taller things - kale, collards in the "north" section of the U and so this year I'm going to plant some calendula, chamomile, cilantro, dill and parsley on the border behind them where it does get a bit shady. Thanks for this!

My lemon thyme and spearmint LOVE the shady part of my garden and are doing fantastic this year. I added spearmint many years ago along with peppermint and both have come back repeatedly, But this year the spearmint is dominating and the leaves are huge. The lemon thyme was planted a year or two ago and is expanding beautifully now.

Video on vegetables and fruits that can be grown in the shade would be helpful. How does their production differ from full sun?

Lucky you! Mine are in the shade but Cilantro is done until fall here regardless of shade. The temperature is too hot. -Texas 8a. I grow a ton of it and freeze and make powder to cook with.
Dill is flowering now and being devoured by the Swallowtail caterpillars. 🐛 🦋
I’m going to move my camomile to the shade. 1st time growing it. Thanks for the advice.

Curious then, why the mint in the shady spot in front of my house is not thriving, but when I take some of its root runners and put them in a pot in the sunny backyard I get mint galore!

@@sharonpaul912 perhaps you and I are experiencing something more to do with soil conditions? My shady mint with less growth is in the ground, And my thriving mint in the sun is in potting soil. 🤷

Maybe has something to do with what growing zone we talking? Shade in zone 7-8 will be different than shade in zone 4-5?

I have thyme growing in full sun and it is thriving. I’ve also planted chives all over (full sun, shade, container, ground, raised garden) and it will not grow!

First time on this site and was dumbfounded with the shade advice till I realized she is in Houston! Herbs do not grow well in shade in the far north (Michigan).

I've also lived and gardened in Chicago, and herbs did very well there in the shaded parts of my garden. I'm in Nashville now.
