RAF F-35B Role Demo Debut | RAF Cosford Air Show 2024

Since the Royal Air Force acquired the F-35B Lightning more than six years ago, there has been no official display team to showcase the world's latest fighter aircraft to the general public. Any air show appearance by a UK F-35 would tend to involve a couple of flat flypasts followed by a short hover before a slow departure. Or so, that was the case until this year!
So, for the first time, making the public debut at RAF Cosford Air Show 2024, the F-35 was displayed in the form of a 'role demonstration' - essentially a display featuring various manoeuvres that the aircraft would use in training and operations.
All in all, it is a vast improvement on the 'flypast' displays that have been seen until this year. The role demo features a top-side pass, multiple afterburner-lit flypasts, the characteristic hover and even a low approach/go around.
So far, the F-35B Role Demo has also been confirmed at RIAT and Duxford's September Air Show.
