I have been using 16 GB Macbook Air M2 since Aug 2022 and i can say its a performance beast for development. This machine is definitely not for gaming but for editing, game development and app development its a good choice. Although if you are into Unreal Engine don't buy because its not yet optimised with the Apple Silicon chip but Unity and Blender (for Animation) works like a charm.
The only thing which i find annoying is when we open the mac with a finger . it makes webcam dirty (specially midnight colour which venom brother is reviewing) by fingerprints.
Few key points to take care for long term usage:
1. always put this on a hard surface and it will not extremely heat up and will always maintain normal heating levels as it does not have a fan.
2. always try to shut down the system instead of putting it on sleep for longer time instead use reopen windows when logging back and it will make the battery health good for longer and it will give you more than 15 hrs for years.
3. Use apple silicon versions of softwares to see true performance of M2 chip.
4. Go for 16 GB RAM if you do multitasking . I myself run 6-7 heavy development app (Intellij IDEA, Docker, Brave, Postman, Teams, Slack, Postgres, PgAdmin, VSCode) at the same time and it give me a backup of around 14 hrs.

@@sumukh007 i am using 256 GB storage and it works fine. You can also buy a 1 TB SSD like i have samsung T7 and got that at a cheaper rate.

Best TH-cam channel. True honest reviews. Been watching a few videos and already subscribed. My current laptop is getting old with speakers getting bad and display got lines all over so watching laptop reviews on TH-cam a lot for the past week. I don't play much games but do love to play sometimes Ubisoft Games so was hoping for Mac as I was watching in other TH-camrs saying I can run Windows inside Mac and play but thanks for your video I'll stick to Windows. Macs can't play games, no upgrade options, and initial upgrades for storage and RAM costs too much... Mac is definitely not for me. And I really hope Microsoft to do something with ARM chips and make Windows on ARM so that we get better performance with better battery and then Windows can beat Apple even in terms of productivity

MacBook M series chips are built on ARM architecture that is used in smartphones aswell. The reason it performs bad in certain apps and specially games because they're not yet built natively for ARM so it's basically emulating x86 environment which hits performance.

Other than windows centric works. Once you start using macbook the same thing that u used to do in windows, in macbook it feels so good smooth fast which improves the user experience. Even more expensive windows cant provide such premium user experience. No matter how much apple is trolled. Real apple users knows why apple is best. Its not just brand value but also its utility that many doesn’t know

M2 is great for productivity but not great if you are into using lots of tools in IT as support or compatibility is not there in lots of cases example: DevOps tools, SRE etc, It's better to use Linux on a good laptop :D
Hi I’m thinking to buy MacBook but i going to start DevOps/SRE path as a student but lots of people says that M1/M2 chip is not compatible with many DevOps tools like docker/ansible so what you recommend to buy
@@b088mohdzaid5 It's better to buy a ThinkPad or any other Laptop that can run Linux or even windows. But if you want the IOS ecosystem then sure go for it.
But yeah you can even Virtualize other OS like with parallels but I don't know if it will work as equally good and produce low heat in Macbook air.
I'm not sure how you said that it's not great for IT support. You know that the macOS is built on Unix ecosystem, right?
And it uses the z-shell, which can be easily changed to some other shell as well. I really don't think that you're experienced enough to talk about IT tools on macOS, because I've worked in some companies which exclusively prefer macOS for development, and mind you, they're developing a web-app, not some Apple specific application.
So yeah, I would definitely not take this advice from you for sure.

@@SRISWA007 Windows is still the OS of choice at majority of places..... as in lots of fields you will never get the software compatibility in Macs which you will on Windows. And obviously, this compatibility and lack of gaming aside, Macs are the best machines you can buy. But I still hate Apple for pricing memory and Storage upgrades too high. Who tf costs ₹20000 for adding 8 more gigs of RAM?

The Macbook Air M2, especially the midnight color has some drawbacks. The smudges are much visible on this color which looks very odd. Also after few days of usage, the paint gets scratched off around the ports on a premium product like this which disheartens an apple user.

I am really owning this laptop and have got the 512 gb variant and bcz I am an CS student at IIT DELHI and I can say that this is a fantastic device for coding and learning computer language. It's Macbook just get it if it is your requirement. I am happy with my purchase 😊
Note * Don't buy 256 gb base variant bcz the ssd is divided into two parts which results in significant decrease of speed and it will feel slow in long term usage.

Rather go for a laptop, at the price of the mac u can easily get 3060ti/3070 , if u know harnoor Singh he also used mac for that but later switched to windows laptop, he is an SD at Microsoft, u can check out the video in his channel

I hv the M2 .. it's been few months... No comparison in terms of performance.. one of the top notch laptop there are few things like can't insert any cables and the finger print mark you will see on the metal.. that's Little irritating as can't clean every time you start the laptop.. however I am satisfied with this investment..expensive one though 😀

@@diysh Absolutely no, they don't even have VRAM, it's integrated GPU at the end of the day. Get a laptop with 8 GB VRAM like anything with at least RTX 3070.

Apple silicon chips are not good for systems level programming.Ex-if you use it for making system level applications and running stuff directly on processor or gpus.Also, the silicone chip gives a lot of troubles that are not escapable at all.

Apple have upper hand in software their software are well optimised with their machinery and There is reason for security because in macos you can't interact with third party softwares and website and can't download third party softwares where in windows we do that so they just eliminated this type of vulnerability if you stop interacting with third party softwares your windows is as safe as Mac os but I would say their optimization is amazing in macbook
