  • Starting up Bmw R71 .
    BMW had implemented four engine variants - R 51, R 61, R 66 and R 71 - in one chassis and thus created four motorcycles in different classes from 500 to 750 cm³.
    "The similarity of the engines, as well as the use of the same all-wheel-suspension chassis for all four machines, made it necessary to combine them in just one manual, which at the same time gives an interesting overview of the entire BMW program in the large class."
    The R 71 was the template for the Soviet URAL M72 and the DNEPR M72 derived from it. These two brands were in turn the template for the Chinese Chang Jiang 750.
    In the advertisement, BMW presented the R 71 as a "high touring and sidecar machine with rear wheel suspension for the heaviest loads". The price of the motorcycle was 1595 Reichsmarks in 1938. Production ended in 1941 after 3458 units , the next civilian 750 cc BMW was the BMW R 75/5 in 1969.

    Это не BMW, это его советская копия-М-72.Можете не спорить,множество несовпадения видно . R-71 немного другой мотоцикл. Но сделано красиво ! Респект!

    Is this a wartime capture bike?

      Since the vehicle is from the former Yugoslavia, it can be concluded that it is a war engine for capture. In Yugoslavia, you could not buy anything more than 250cc (for civilians), all powerful motorcycles were military and police. This bike was in very poor condition with many parts missing , so it had a tough history .Considering all that, I could say it is big possibility that it was war motorcycle that was capture or abandon .

    Missing bolts on the left cylinder head and it runs ok ? wow !!

      The bigger problem is that the cams on the camshaft are not the same height ( there are two cams that opens break kontakt , and the cams are different high ) .Because of that sparks are not sincronised , but the engine is still working very well . This is the main reason why I will probably instal electronic ignition .

      Auf dieses Motorrad habe ich ca. 8 Jahre gewartet . Definitiv eines meiner interessantesten Projekte. Ich werde Getriebe und Motor zerlegen müssen. Sie funktionieren, aber ich finde einige Probleme (Öl leckt, schwer zu wechselnde Gänge ...)
