Old Rose is my fave character from that film, despite she got the least screen time of all the leads! She survived sinking, two WWs, great depression and many more, yet she kept her spirit alive & lived with her memories for over 80 years... She truly reflects what life on Earth is and how it starts & ends...
The titanic world is so fascinating that I would definetly watch a movie about Rose's life after Titanic.

"The reflection has changed a bit". This simple line gets me every time. It's a perfect mixture of wit and sorrow that perfectly describes what the process of aging feels like. Aging... this fearful, beautiful thing... 🥺
That line has a deeper meaning than it may seem. Rose probably had a feeling that she was going to die soon, and was ready to rejoin Jack. But first, she needed to work up the courage to tell his story and ensure he had a legacy. Considering their little moments of chemistry, Lizzy and Brock probably married after the events of the film and opened a Titanic memorial in Lizzy’s grandma’s memory with a special section dedicated to Jack so everyone would know what a true hero he was.
I feel this line is very underrated in the movie, it’s the moment when Rose makes the decision to tell her forbidden story and it’s also a moment for us the audience to be prepared to go back in time. In my opinion it’s better than “I’m the King of the world”.

It's amazing how young rose in one of the scenes calls Titanic a slave ship that was taking her bck to America in chains, and in this scene she remembers everything about titanic so fondly. Love changes how we percieve things around us.
The more masterful part is that the more you watch this movie, you'll see those same objects again...in conjunction with certain memories. Masterful cinematic storytelling.

I feel when Rose died at the end( Some people disagree she died) that she found closure, she returned the heart of the ocean where it belonged, and lives the life Jack wanted her to.

I guess in reality she would have gotten severe flashbacks to this traumatic experience.
I get emotional finding a piece of candy behind the couch, just imagine an object of sentimental value that you havent seen for 84 yrs.

Picture it: The ice caps melt, and the sea swallows cities. Then, like here in Titanic, a research ship go to explore the underwater ruins, bringing a survivor with them.

Makes me wonder if anybody claimed any of their items long after the titanic sank
Titanic took 73 years to find, and most items recovered have been ship items, like dishes, and tools, and most passenger items were fairly generic, like gloves, or brushes, and even things like jewellery would be difficult to prove they were yours or a family member's! But almost all perished, or had died by the time of discovery, so its doubtful that any of the items found would have belonged to the few survivors still living!
^ Also, who would want them? A century underwater has eroded, rusted, and damaged them likely beyond any restoration's ability to make them like new or even usable again. Salt corrodes, also. And then of course, there's the emotional attachment to said item, or lack thereof. It's like a person. If you come back to someone or something decades and decades since last seeing them/it, the relationship is obviously going to have changed. Old Rose makes this clear when she by no accident says "this WAS my".. Even though the physical item has been brought back to the surface, the energy it had when it properly belonged to her aboard the ship is long since dead.
Titanic 2 is about the granddaughter sueing the man and the dude with the beard 👍🚢

Saying this but I watched the VHS with my mom for about 30 days Every night when we bought the movie RIP mom. Cancer. Can’t believe I’m saying this.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Be glad that you have happy memories of watching this movie night after night with your mother.( I watched it night after night for weeks too!) I am sure your mother loved you and would want you to go on, just like Rose goes on in the movie.

I have always had this question from the end of the titanic... I wonder if anyone knows. What happed to Roses mother after the titanic? She told what happened to her abusive ex why not her mother?
James Cameron never tells us, it is unknown. However, some fans of the movie like to guess. Here are some of the more common ones - *she ended up working as a seamstress *she remarried a wealthy man *she worked as a companion for a wealthy woman* she moved in with wealthy relatives *she received a compensation payout from the White Star Line and lived off that. Take your pick.
@@theshillneckedlizard8364 She most likely would remarry a wealthy older widower type guy, even if she was older herself. Being super wealthy like that, you often have many 'connections' to bail you out.
