I think you have an excellent railroad. In my opinion, your layout is, "Your Layout" have fun creating the world, as you see it... Criticism, weather good intended or otherwise, will have you running back & forth to no end.

The abandoned rail sidings is very well done. I like the guard rail in the parking lot to keep the crazy drivers off the rails. You have a lot going on in this update. One suggestion, you have the Tunnel Portals on a curve Check the clearance as the large engines & rolling stock swing out on the curve, they may hit the Portals. If have a first class layout with a lot of excellent objectives.
    Cheers from Michigan.

Layout looks great, you showed me some awesome ideas on how to do my coal mine and flood loader tower. Thanks for sharing these great ideas and tips!

Add more rust to your abandon sidings. Especially where the plates hold the ties to the rail. Looooooking good!

Great idea with the abandoned line, I am trying to work a small overgrown like into my layout somewhere.

Looks good! Your engine house set up and mainline / crossovers look somewhat similar to mine! Keep up the good work!
Sorry for the bad info on the Flood Loader. I wasnt completely sure about the name of it. Thanks for the shout out as well! Josh

For the rear of the mine. Remember a mine needs supplies to continue to operate. Steel arch beams. Wood for propping the roof. Rails for underground transport plus machinery. It is not often seen on layouts just a different idea. Nice work of fitting reality to the space you have is a juggling trick which you seem to have done well.

The ground throws are a good idea, however it's a little unrealistic how you did it, but I like the fact you found a way to do what you wanted. Good job on your layout I like the way you set it up. The 2% grade would make a good mine in the mountains. The flood loader would do great there and you could use your abandoned mine as a functional mine that's just really old. I'm starting from scratch later this year and I'm gonna use your engine shop ideas

Looks Great Zack! The abandoned lines look spot on! That coal mine is a beast. Really nice job on the weathering too. I think once you put down some ground foam you'll get a better idea if you like the weathering or not. Lots of great things in this update! I appreciate how respectful you are, I try to have the same mentality. Thanks for sharing, and as always keep up the great work!

Great job Zack! always enjoy the videos from you! Layout is really coming together and keep us updated! Love that coal mine and great abandoned spurs! personally i think it all looks great and just keep up what your doing and keep up the great work and something to remember is nothing is rly clean in the real world, depending on a light dusting of dirt or a masterpiece junky house weathering job. cant wait to see the next video! Cheers, Nolan.

I have been using BLACK BEAUTY extra fine abrasive for some time when modeling coal on my ho layout...perfect size and weight as it is glass...and no dust. Seals well with Elmers 50/50 and makes great loads as well.

Rather old video however I am just getting involved into the hobby and thoroughly enjoyed your layout. I liked the idea of the old spurs and the way you fixed them up. I have subscribed to your channel hoping to get to see your completed project.
As I said, enjoyed it and looking forward to seeing your current day layout.

Great trackwork! Re-weathering your corrugated building: the only comment I would make is that it perhaps needs the individual sheeting to be made to stand out. If you do a youtube search for "Humbrol-weathering with enamel washes" the bloke shows a fairly nifty technique using a small piece of mask.
Hoping to get my own coal loader to be operational as well, but using a manually operated lever a bit like you like to do with your ground-throws. Fingers crossed eh?

Nice job so far!@9:32 the switch that you are talking about might be changed to a Left hand to smooth out the zig-zag that is there. You might have problems if pushing long strings of empty hoppers. I do like the progress!

Great work. I know how hard it is to get a 3 track coaling facility into a small space. Great work. One thing, find a light weight tripod and the video will improve 100%. They even make small pods for setting on the table. Otherwise great job.

Nice set up I just got that new river mine and yeah have seen the flood loader video very awesome hoping to see if they will sell me a copper insert for the flood loader or try to make one myself I love the way it works and I think I am good with soldering so if they don't help me I will tackle it myself ....One more thing search youtube for that new river mine and there is a guy who built one and added stuff to it and even painted the windows to give them an appearance of separate window panes and he even has some windows open on it and has added some other awesome details ...I have just gone back in to HO form havine N for a long time and will be having a coal loading area which will be the focal point of the layout so it has to operate and load and unload which I have found a coal tipple that will fill the bill so its just a matter of getting it now

I'm thinking you should have removed the tie plates on your dead end sidings as they would have been removed first to get the rails off the ties.

With respect to your abandoned track sections, I think it would be more realistic if you were to cut-off the simulated wood between the ties. Prototype train abandoned sections would never have wood between railroad ties.

Great video... the coal mine looks great. I love the idea of the old mine that is not in operation no more. My name is Eric Ehlers . I don't know to subscribe to me check my channel. I have one of the flood loads. I planted it blue. Maybe have a little switch engine that move coal cars around for your mine . And weather it up really good. Vinny is building a building for me right now. It is a rail car repair shop . Keep the videos coming.

Regarding trees in a yard / engine facility-
MKT''s Sloan Yard in San Antonio Texas had trees (circa 1980s):
    www.railpictures.net/photo/3239/

An eclectic yard - longest track was less than 1000 feet long (20 car lengths assuming 50ft car lengths on average).
