- Button Placket Layered Baby Frock Cutting and Stitching | DIY Umbrella Cut Baby Frock For Beginners
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my channel. Today, we’re going to make a super cute Button Placket Layered Baby Frock with a pocket using an umbrella cut. Perfect for beginners! Let’s get started!
[MATERIALS]
• Cotton fabric (1.5 meters)
• Buttons (4-5)
• Sewing machine
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Pins
• Chalk
• Iron
[STEP 1: MEASUREMENTS]
• Measure your baby’s chest, waist, and desired frock length.
• Note these measurements down.
[STEP 2: CUTTING THE FABRIC]
1. Umbrella Cut:
• Fold fabric in half.
• From the top corner, measure and mark the radius for the waist (Chest/2 + 1 inch) using chalk.
• From the waist mark, measure and mark the desired frock length plus 1 inch for hem allowance.
• Cut along the marked lines.
2. Layers:
• Cut two additional circles with a larger radius for layers. Each layer should be 2-3 inches longer than the one above.
3. Bodice:
• Cut two rectangles for the front and back bodice using chest and length measurements.
• Add 1 inch for seam allowances.
4. Placket:
• Cut a strip of fabric for the button placket (length of the bodice + 1 inch by 2 inches wide).
5. Pocket:
• Cut a small square or rectangle for the pocket.
[STEP 3: STITCHING THE BODICE]
1. Shoulder Seams:
• Pin and sew the front and back bodice pieces together at the shoulders.
2. Side Seams:
• Pin and sew the sides, leaving space for armholes.
3. Placket:
• Fold and press the placket strip in half.
• Attach it to the center of the bodice front, folding raw edges inwards.
• Sew down both sides to secure.
[STEP 4: ATTACHING THE LAYERS]
• Pin and sew the smallest layer to the bodice waist.
• Repeat with the larger layers, sewing them to the bottom of the previous layer, ensuring even ruffles.
[STEP 5: ADDING THE POCKET]
• Fold and hem the top edge of the pocket.
• Fold and press the remaining edges.
• Pin the pocket to the desired spot on the frock.
• Sew around the edges, leaving the top open.
[STEP 6: FINISHING TOUCHES]
• Hem: Fold and sew the bottom hem of the frock.
• Buttons: Sew buttons on the placket and create corresponding buttonholes.
• Iron: Give the frock a good press to smooth out seams and layers.

Which mark 11” ?? Length ?? Width??
Bottom part after folding ..length 23” and will mark 11” from top of the triangle.why should we take 11” ? Is my question and for other sizes how to mark that part after folding in traingle.length will be according to their height and how to measure the width?
