Baby Frock With Jacket Cutting and Stitching | DIY Very Easy Baby Frock With Jacket For Beginners
“Hi everyone! Welcome back to my channel! In today’s video, I’ll be showing you how to make an adorable baby frock with a ruffle jacket. This project is perfect for beginners, so grab your sewing kit, and let’s get started!”
Materials Needed
1. Fabric (cotton or any soft material)
2. Scissors
3. Sewing machine or needle and thread
4. Measuring tape
5. Pins
6. Pattern paper or any paper for making patterns
7. Elastic
8. Ribbons or buttons for decoration (optional)
Step 1: Creating the Pattern
1. Measurements: Measure the baby’s chest, waist, and desired length of the frock.
2. Drafting the Pattern: On your pattern paper, draw the bodice using the chest measurement plus an inch for seam allowance. Draw the skirt pattern as a rectangle with the waist measurement plus seam allowance.
Step 2: Cutting the Fabric
1. Bodice: Cut two pieces of fabric using the bodice pattern (front and back).
2. Skirt: Cut one long rectangle for the skirt.
3. Jacket: For the jacket, cut two rectangles for the front pieces and one for the back. Cut two sleeves and additional strips for the ruffles.
Step 3: Sewing the Frock
1. Bodice:
• Sew the shoulder seams of the front and back bodice pieces together.
• Attach the side seams.
• Hem the neckline and armholes.
2. Skirt:
• Sew the side seams of the skirt.
• Gather the top edge of the skirt to match the bodice width.
• Attach the skirt to the bodice.
3. Finishing:
• Hem the bottom of the skirt.
• Add an elastic band at the waist if desired for extra fit.
Step 4: Making the Jacket
1. Sew the Body:
• Sew the shoulder and side seams of the jacket pieces.
2. Attach the Sleeves:
• Sew the sleeves to the armholes.
3. Ruffles:
• Gather the strips of fabric and attach them to the neckline, sleeves, and bottom of the jacket for a ruffled effect.
4. Finishing:
• Hem all raw edges and add any decorations like buttons or ribbons.
