The PS1 one was probably because the discs are actually CDs and there's music there and the PS1 has a sound player that can play the tracks on the CD.

Most PS1 disks don't let you do that. The encoding is different so you can't just pop them in and listen to the game music. The old ones you could. Like Turbografx 16 CD and Sega CD. There was usually 1 track with a warning. Then the second track was some noises, game data, and the rest would be the music files.

JAWS is a screen reader for blind people that allows them to hear everything that’s on the computer screen. The acronym stands for job access for Windows with speech.

I think the reason the first track never plays anything is because it's the video data. Older formats were put in track form, but as the games get younger, they found out a way to save space on the discs and put the video data and the audio data together. They coded it to where the audio was triggered after the video came up. That's my theory of how it works.
it’s actually because cd players detect if it’s data or audio and mute it if it is data in order to prevent speaker damage.

For the Sega Dreamcast disc, The first track is for ROM data so you really shouldn’t mess with that because it could break your CD player, that could be the same for the PC one, and the PlayStation disc.
It can't break the cd player actually, the only harm it could possibly do is ruin the speakers and that's it

If a game disc starts playing track 1, that means there is CD audio data on the disc. Track 1 is always game data, however. Careful with your volume if you attempt to play track 1. Track 2, etc are audio tracks.

The reason that Track 1 on the Dreamcast, Saturn, PC and PS1 games didn’t play audio is because Track 1 is where game data is stored. Some games also use PCM and/or other proprietary audio formats as apposed to CD audio, these are also usually stored on Track 1. This is why some games only have one track.
The reason why it didn't play on track 1 is because that is the game data.

It was so surprising to learn that if you put a PS1 or PS2 game into a cd/dvd/blue-ray/whatever player, you can have the games sound track played normally becuse the sound tracks are on the same part of the disk as normal music disks. Nice!
If I had a DVD player it would play and show something similar.

To explain the games, the games on a CD disc (not DVD or Blue Ray) loaded something as it was the actual game. The sega played a warning which was a track coded in incase someone put it in a CD player. The Daytona game played the actual songs. And the other ones that loaded only one track were CDs but with no audio, just the game code.

I'm pretty sure Track 1 of the sega dreamcast games is some creepy sounding guitar riffs that are in someway linked with the game code, most CD players will deny it but if it did work then both the disk and your CD player would be broken

Well that warning came from the Sega CD games. IDK how many of them has it. Only one I heard is The Lawnmower Man used it. Some Sega CD games that are from Digital Pictures. Will give you some male voice saying "Good Afternoon, Digital Pictures" and you'll hear some other voices saying something strange. If you try to hear it in reverse. It will give you a secret message for one of it's games. Most of Sega CD games can play some of their music

Your CD player would've probably been destroyed if it wasnt a modern one after inserting a Dreamcast CD-ROM disc and attempting to play track 1 which contains game data and runs risks of damaging speakers, which is why you got a warning when playing track 2.
The reason your speaker played other tracks but track 1 on other discs you inserted was because it's a modern CD player and as I mentioned it would've damaged the speakers if it played audio since track 1 always has game data on it for CD-ROM discs.

The only reason some even tried to work was because they were on CDs so the player thought it would be able too play it (and it can if there are audio files in the right format on it). The rest couldn’t even attempt to play as they were DVD or Blu-Ray which use completely different lasers, with the exception of the Dreamcast being it’s GD-ROM format has that warning feature which plays that error message. Interesting nonetheless, in fact there were some games for those older CD based consoles that allowed you to play the complete soundtrack with a CD player.

I still use my grandpa's Phillips CD player and recorder form the 1990s still works
lots of old things still work because they used to build things to last. now things are built to self destruct so you always keep having to buy the latest model. lol @ "progress"
Track 1 will not be audible on any newer CD players because companies were getting complaints of unsuspecting CD users having their speakers blow out when data noise comes thru. Hence track 1 being silent. Data makes loud garbled noises. Some data CDs will have soundtracks after track 2 or 3 but many don't to avoid angry consumers with broken stereos.

Game discs are Likely not encoded in audio CD format. A lot use CD-ROM or even proprietary formats. I don’t think a CD Player can read their operating system format.
The reason it stops is because CD-ROM had a different format then Compact Disk. Most modern CD players have a failsafe to stop it from loading CD-ROM format. Also, Blue-Ray has a different format as well.

I'm not a professional, so don't quote me on this but I believe the reason track 1 does not play with the Dream Cast CD is because although your CD player is outdated, it's still equipped with a certain kind of disc scanner to detect if any foreign data other than audio CD data is being played. Playing game data on an audio player is usually dangerous, so this system was built to detect and automatically block track 1 of any game data playing to prevent irreversible damage to your speakers, along with your game CD.

I know this video has been almost 6 years old, but in case no one else has commented on this, the CD games where track 1 didn't play is the data, and the rest is the music. Usually depends on the game that has a chance of having a soundtrack on it

For anyone wanting to try this the only ones that will work are older games (ps1 and earlier) because they were on a CD Rom, ps2 was DVD and everything after was HD formats.

didn't need to be a video at all. i realized you could listen to ps1 discs in cd players when i was a little child before internet.
Track 1 is game data. The reason why track 1 won’t play is because it makes a really loud sound that can damage your speakers, so most modern CD players recognize the game data in track 1 and won’t play it. Older CD players are more likely to play it, although you should never attempt to play track 1 on a older CD player.
There's a large physical difference between CD and Blue Ray. The bumps in the metal layer of the Blue Ray are so small, that the red laser light from the CD player will not reflect properly off of the disk. Because of that, it is physically impossible for a CD player to read a Blue Ray.

if you had an older cd player from the 90s, most of the time Track 1 will work with say, a Sega CD-ROM but the cd player will try to read the binary data of the game as audio, and there would be a large chance you could damage your speakers that way.

The only thing the CD will read is something that the laser can pick up and as DVDs and Blu-rays use different colour lasers, I'm not surprised they don't work

CD audio is a digital format decoded by a small computer. It's not analog pure electro mechanical thing like a record player or tape/cassette player that just blindly and mechanically converts the stylus or read head input directly to sound. Putting a non-audio cassette into a cassette player or the wrong format record on a turntable; will give word results. But a CD player will either play music if the disc is an audio CD or give either a "No disc" or error message depending on whether it can even detect it or not. (I assume"No" just means it detected no disc at all)
