I was too young to see this initially, but it was the talk of my grade school (by the 7th and 8th graders, at least) especially that shock ending, which blew audiences away. Spacek and Piper Laurie are fantastic, along with the rest of a terrific cast.
This is such a great piece love Carey. I saw this the day. It opened in 1976. I cut school to come to Manhattan to see it. I had no idea what it was, but I did know if Sissy basic. She had just done this wonderful television movie,Katherine then and Badlands, of course. I had no idea what this movie was like I said, and it blew me away.
Yesterday I just watch the original Carrie & Friday the 13th with my dad and after all those years the movies continue to frighten me a lot. I also been reading a biography book on Stephen King's life story and his thoughts on being a writer. The book is called, On Writing A Memoir of the Craft. I highly recommend the book.
1. Stephen King threw this book away, but his wife took it out and told him to send it in. It's the first one that sold to a legitimate publisher that wasn't adult pulp and the first to be adapted into a movie. 2. Back then teachers were allowed to strike a student if warranted. (Class of 1979) 3. Sissy and Piper Laurie were both nominated for Acadamy Awards, but horror didn't get love back then. 😭😭 4. Norma/PJ Soles, As long as I have a face.... (she has to ace that ballcap) 5. Sue, Tommy and Miss Collins really were trying to help Carrie. I read the book. 6. If Billy's a high school student, so am I.😏 7. Margaret's crucifixion pose is the same as the St. Sabastian. 8. In the book half the town burns. No budget for that here 🤑🤑 9. The only thing good in the second LOSER remake is Carrie/Chloe Grace Moretz could get it. 😍😋😈 (King remakes are 0/10) Including "IT" and "The Stand".
Had an absolute ball reuniting with 'Robert Bellissimo's At The Movies' Podcast where we discuss all things 'Carrie' - 'Stephen King' - 'Brian DePalma' - 'Sissy Spacek' - 'Piper Laurie' - 'Betty Buckley' - 'Jim Brochu' and MORE! 🩸🩸🩸🩸 Please give us a watch, like, comment and subscribe... enjoy!
