    I agree that the PDF update solution would be the best bet. I dont think it would present any IP issues, honestly - they already give out Warcry cards and Blood Bowl card for free to print, and plus it's not like they're giving you the original Photoshop file to edit, it's still a static image. Even if someone had access to a commercial grade card printer, it's not like they would be able to profit off of updated Underworlds cards, haha
    On that note, GW selling reprinted cards wouldn't work because they'd probably lose money on it, and also getting people to buy them would be a death toll for the game. Tell a new player they need to shell out for updated cards for an additional $15 and they're gone before they even started.
    Even if there is a FAR lost for Nemesis, they would still need to be able to revise fighter cards, plot cards, etc, in which case the "print your own card updates PDF" still makes the most sense.
    Random idea I had while writing this - maybe they could include a printed out Errata in the core boxes, at least so people automatically have the latest without looking online.

    Great intro. I'd like to see Pete try that now! Some great suggestions to solve this problem. I know game designers always seem to focus on weakening things to fix problems, and i can see why that would make sense, if power creep wasn't a thing in games. For me, although I know this will never happen, I'd like to instead see an upgrade pack released whereby weaker rivals decks or weaker warbands are given a number of stronger cards that can be added to the existing card pool to make them better rather than strong warbands being made weaker. Won't happen though so 🤷‍♂

    I just had a game with a nice guy and he was using Fuerza Helada (Force of Frost I think) and in the middle of the game I had to point that stuff (like the ice armor) had been recently errataed. It wasnt a nice experience for either. You can argue that that's "our" fault for not keeping up with the changes.
    In any case having NO HOPE on GW providing updated cards, it would be great if they could get one of their graphic designer to devote some hours on getting corrected versions of all errataed cards, fighters, objectives, etc.... and have a pdf for each warband. That way you could print them and just put them inside card sleeves (or yes, print them in stickers or whatever). I have notes inside many sleeves to remind me of the changes and its not glamorous at all ;).
    The tier list for warbands sound great. Blood bowl has tiers for teams and in tournaments "worse" teams are allowed to pick more starting skills for their vanilla players than better teams which really helps with balance.

    One of the FAQs screwed me over in the last tournament. Not being able to skritter with a gambit messed up my game plan.

      And that’s why the current system doesn’t work

    I think a tier list might be an excellent idea. I was planning to applying it on with my colleagues. The idea is, allowing the player with the "weaker" warband play the tier difference on free upgrades. Let's say, the lower warnband is two tier differences, they can play two free upgrades (use some counter to keep track of that). But I didn't test it yet, but I'm planning to test it soon. It would work well for Rivals. The solution proposed in the video is very elegant for Nemesis and Championship.

      Interesting idea. Let us know how it goes!
      Maybe we'll feature it on the channel.

    I definitely don't have a better solution, but it is a really tricky problem when dealing with printed material. As soon as a set is delivered to shops/customers it's too late to change the actual cards and I think these rules changes in FAQs are the best way right now.
    But for how you solve a problem of making sure all players are aware of the changes when playing at events, that's a difficult one too - perhaps TOs can put messages out to the players of those specific decks to make sure they're aware of changes.
    What would be great is some kind of digitisation of the cards that we can use that has the up-to-date wording on cards so people can easily refer to them in a format we're all used to seeing 🤷‍♂. I think we're all realised GW have no intention of re-issuing cards with new text on them because that would also be fairly hard to manage and not very fair if your favourite warband happens to be one that gets a lot of changes over time.
    Great video guys!

    I’d love printed updated cards, every 6 months or so with all the latest fixes. Also, following up on the idea of the tier, they could give re-rolls to the weakest warbands, without changing the cards. S and A tier no rerolls, B 1 re roll per turn etc.. etc..

    • @AgentsofSigmar
      @AgentsofSigmar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rerolls would definitely also be handy and relatively easy to track

    I appreciate this video because it is an issue and if GW doesn't already know this is an issue it needs to be brought to their attention.
    I really don't like FAQing cards, I would prefer an outright ban on the card if it's broken. Nemesis needs to be simple and checking each of your cards for an FAQ is not simple if the card is banned take it out of the pool, easy fix.
    Ultimately I have to complain a bit though because considering how many years the game has been out, how are the designers making cards like chill of the grave (2 glory for 2 fighters out of action) and not realizing it's broken? At this point they should really have a better grasp on what is OP so this shouldn't nearly be the problem it is.

    GW already give out random alt art cards as part or organised play. I never get any use out of those cards. Maybe they should just start giving out the errata'd rules cards with a date stamp on them. Then the people playing organised play (not casual) will be able to use them.

    Rulebooks get updated and made available online. But for cards, rules updates are an issue for GW, esp with their refusal to print updated cards.
    Malifaux does annual seasons with new scenarios for their (objective based) game which are printed on cards. They also do an annual FAQ a few months before to equalise power levels across crews. All the updated cards from the FAQ are released along with the new scenarios in the annual physcial release (proving grounds). Plus the company allows a third party to print individual cards on demand and raw files are available to the public.
    It's great that GW wants to balance their game but this game's more complicated scenarios depend on the cards. Make them available

    I like FAR/tier list of thinking. Could it be combined with allowing the essentials card pack into a mix? Making the nemesis format Warband deck + rivals pack + essentials pack. Still with cards being banned, restricted etc.

    • @AgentsofSigmar
      @AgentsofSigmar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Possibly though personally we’re happy to see the back of the essentials decks tbh and prefer the nemesis setup as is

      @@AgentsofSigmar Yeah can see that. Would love a 6/12 month card pack with all the errata´d cards, but think they would need to rotate out some older warbands then.
      Combine it with re-release of older warbands like in Rivals of the mirrored city.

    Codexes are sold
    Rules are sold
    cards are sold
    "Generals handbook" is sold
    Seasons are short.
    What seems to be the problem (for GW)?

    How about a digital app for the cards and fighters, to allow for updates without bogging down in the physical format? Or like Conquest where they have a QR code that you can get the latest and greatest version?

    • @AgentsofSigmar
      @AgentsofSigmar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s tricky because then how do you still get people to buy the cards if it’s all in an app then you nee QR codes and such and it’s a little more of a pain (though I personally do like the idea of using an iPad for all my card management)
