- Durian, also known as the "king of fruits," is a large, spiky, greenish-brown fruit that is well-loved in its native Southeast Asia.
It is the edible fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus Durio, with Durio zibethinus being the only species available on the international market.
The fruit is generally slightly oval, about a foot wide, and covered in formidable-looking spikes. It can weigh between two to seven pounds, and in holding it in your hands by the body of the fruit, instead of the stem, it could potentially pierce the skin.
Durian has a mild sweet flavor and is mainly used in beverages and desserts due to its creamy sweet taste of durian pulp.
However, due to its strong odor, the fruit has been banned from some public places and mass transit.
