Dave was a man ahead of his time. I remember e-mailing him AND getting a response way back in the early 90's when I was in college. Very cool and very appreciative of his fans.
Really shows how much Dave really cares for fans, to see him get really personal and really try to communicate with fans despite a language barrier is really outstanding on his part.
wow!! dave knew that the Internet would be ubiquitous. some say he's an asshole. i say, we need strong thinkers like him on our team. i don't agree with him 100% (im an atheist ), but this man is a true legend!!
i have a new found respect after watching this video. esp. the part where he interacts with the fans. he doesn't treat them or act like he's this big rock star or celebrity. just like people that love his music and he appreciates it obviously. awesome guy. rock on megadeth.
I had the opportunity to show I was involved with the internet, by calling out I was part of Dave's megadeth fourms. He signed my endgame booklet with my fourm username. I have my upmost respect for him and I wont forget his kindness.
True. Also, the 'M' in MTV has changed from 'Music' to 'Mystery' Television, because you never know what MTV will show next, but you can be damn sure it will be something completely unrelated to music.
i like dave mustaine people pick on metal alot and call people who listen to it idiots but dave mustane is a smart guy and knows what he is talking about
True. And he's making a good example on Germany: we have the GEMA, an official organisation to make them and musicians and producers richer by getting money from people that play trademarked music in public (bars, taxis or concerts), also from youtube. but yt won't pay them their damn money, so almost every protected content on yt is not available in germany. e.g.: you have to 'cheat' a little bit to watch videos like the music video of Trust
This is amazing. Dave said this in 1995 when the interent for most Americans was very new. Unfortunately, the whole MTV hipocracy thing didn't work. Still about 1:53-2:59 really applies to today's world (or from around 1998 to today) and to think this was said 3 years earlier is amazing and the fact that bubble gum pop really wasn't what it was back in 1998 or so.
He speaks his mind. He didn't say that to disrespect Cobain. But are you going to look someone right in the eye and tell them Dave DOESN'T have a point with that? It's called speaking your mind and being blunt. When you do that you're bound to offend some people, there's no getting around that.
lol shit, i didn't even know there was internet back then. He's definitely right about the internet. If it wasn't for youtube, and various forums on the net, I would never have been introduced to metal.
Wow, Dave was on the ball in '95! Here we are 16 years later, and wouldn't you know it, the internet is where people discover music, share their own creations, and now the movement of popular music has shattered into sub-sets. There is no more universal superstar, just giants of their genres. As for MTV, they feed off of the stupidity of the average teenager's sense of humor now. They no longer have Music Television in their name. Good. They haven't been Music Television for eons....
"If you want to stay informed then you have to pay attention to what is going on around you" more true now then ever. Some people have to look in other countries websites to know what is going on in the US.
@xXhanson900Xx I love Dave I think he's brilliant and has fronted one of the most important bands in the world for almost 30 years but he went to rehab fifteen times before he was clean. I am just pointing out that he didn't recover fast. If anything this shows his perseverance and ability to follow his goals until they are completely accomplished.
Dave Sure knew his stuff back then. on top of that, he was extremely polite to the fans from the internet. and like the other guy said (Sorry i forgot whom but he said what needed to be said.) Other musicians would've just gotten into their ferrari and gone home to rap out lyrics someone wrote for them.
yeah, thats not widely accessible though. Dave came up with a good point that it metal is pretty censored... the whole "if you dont like it, just dont listen to it " comes up. There should be stations, but the pop mass doesnt want them
Keyword being EX-junkie and EX-alchoholic. A guy beats his demons that he have been struggling with his entire life and turns his life around... yes that is a good role model. Maybe not to non-users, but to people that are trying to stop using, he would be a fine rolemodel.
I still think it's silly how people that kill themselves seem to get more credit than people who fought and won over their demons, like Dave did. Lots of people still think he's an asshole, I think he's one of the strongest men I've ever heard of.
@ANDYB1478 yeah because Kurt Cobain never did drugs. He's a real role model. Honestly I admire mustaine 100000 times more than Kobain. He had a freaking tough life and he never gave up, Cobain had some problems that weren't as near as bad as the ones that Dave had and he commits suicide. Mustaine is a role model, he could create a sucessful band and he's one of the best rhytm guitarrist ever (as a guitar player is much better than Kurt) when he grew up in shitty conditions .
@ANDYB1478 Yes, he should have the right because he actually took the effort to dig his way out of the hole instead of whining about his life and offing himself. Suicide is one of the weakest things you could do when faced with a great challenge and Dave is rightfully pointing that out.
Okay, so he was right about that internet thing, they don't really play metal and rock on MTV, so the internet is a good channel for that kind of music.
i wouldnt class myself as a metal fan.... but i dig megadeth and Dave.... he has ALWAYS had time for his fan's and always treats them well.... that has to be respected... he's a different kettle of fish compared to all these other egotystical rockers (you know who they are)
Actually I didn't know that, I don't know and I can't know that (if he was murdered) so I can't say anything about that. But I still prefer Mustaine over Cobain every day of the year
he didn't say that mustaine said that, those were separate, he's saying mustaine was right about him. then he said kobain sucked on guitar, that's it, not connected.
he's right about MTV being one kind of music.just saw the ads for the VMA's an nothing but hiphop/rap an even then they still dont play that, every time i pass through the channel i always see some shitty reality show of a bunch of people being assholes to each other, thats not music.
Hell yeah for VH1 Classic!!!!...Except what pisses me off is that the videos they show are mostly hair metal...I want them to put more thrash in there...
True hip-hop artists don't solely talk about how much sex they have or how much money they have, that's known as commercial music. Metal isn't the only genre that has posers is what I mean.
Nemesis was pleased.
Dave Mustaine is probably one of the best musicians in the whole Metal history
wow!! dave knew that the Internet would be ubiquitous. some say he's an asshole. i say, we need strong thinkers like him on our team. i don't agree with him 100% (im an atheist ), but this man is a true legend!!

Dave Mustaine is the man

he seems like a nice dude. The fact that he said o ya i know u when the dude gave him his screen name is just amazing.
thats sick that dave's never let fame get to his head.
Shows produced by the Finnish FST (Finlands Svenska Television) sometimes had subtitles for both Swedish and Finnish.
i like dave mustaine people pick on metal alot and call people who listen to it idiots but dave mustane is a smart guy and knows what he is talking about

He seems like a really down to earth and knowledable guy. Would be great to meet him! Plus he's fucking godly at guitar!
dave for president!!
That Nemesis thing was really cool of Dave.
So MTV is pretty much pop, teen pop, dance pop, and hip hop. When and why did MTV change their credo?
Also, where was this interview from?
MTV killed Metal.
Marcus Olsson MTV Killed Rock and Roll.
This is amazing. Dave said this in 1995 when the interent for most Americans was very new. Unfortunately, the whole MTV hipocracy thing didn't work. Still about 1:53-2:59 really applies to today's world (or from around 1998 to today) and to think this was said 3 years earlier is amazing and the fact that bubble gum pop really wasn't what it was back in 1998 or so.
wow, they spelled mustaine wrong at the beginning
One short year later and he is an MTV "news correspondent"
He speaks his mind.
He didn't say that to disrespect Cobain.
But are you going to look someone right in the eye and tell them Dave DOESN'T have a point with that?
It's called speaking your mind and being blunt. When you do that you're bound to offend some people, there's no getting around that.
Dave is my favorite guitarist and will always be!!!
lol shit, i didn't even know there was internet back then. He's definitely right about the internet. If it wasn't for youtube, and various forums on the net, I would never have been introduced to metal.

They took on the fight with MTV and MTV sadly won the fight by not playing their music anymore...
GODDAMNIT, I LOVE THIS MAN.
he is very wise and his words are true
Dave Mustaine was SO right about the netz
Dave was ahead of his time
"If you want to stay informed then you have to pay attention to what is going on around you" more true now then ever. Some people have to look in other countries websites to know what is going on in the US.
I MIGHT have just said that to get the crowd psyched.
So cool how he remembered Nemesis
I just love this man ...
@xXhanson900Xx I love Dave I think he's brilliant and has fronted one of the most important bands in the world for almost 30 years but he went to rehab fifteen times before he was clean. love his face at: 0:15
Keyword being EX-junkie and EX-alchoholic. A guy beats his demons that he have been struggling with his entire life and turns his life around... yes that is a good role model. Maybe not to non-users, but to people that are trying to stop using, he would be a fine rolemodel.
dave's so cooooool.
man that last guy was stoked to meet dave! i'm so jealous!
I still think it's silly how people that kill themselves seem to get more credit than people who fought and won over their demons, like Dave did. Lots of people still think he's an asshole, I think he's one of the strongest men I've ever heard of.
Dave makes a very good point
Haha, you can see the afterglow on Nemesis. How awesome is that.
@ANDYB1478 yeah because Kurt Cobain never did drugs. He's a real role model. Honestly I admire mustaine 100000 times more than Kobain. Never did drugs, but the toxicology part of his autopsy confirmed that he was loaded on heroin at the time he died. Sure.
Dave Mustaine is cool!!! Such a fan friendly person!!!
The wise words of Dave long live fucking Metal \m/ Fuck all that Rap shit.
He saw it! He knew! Back then computers were just a "nerd" thing. NOW LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!
im not in the know about megadeth but im trying to catch up, anyone know what the song in the backround at the start of this interview is? pm please?
Train of Consequences
@DreamFactory91
Try to listen to it diffrently, have you ever seen his lyrics? Every song has such amazing lyrics, look up ''Foreclosure of a Dream''.
This is so cool. The internet being this new thing to them at the time. My time flies.
@VegitoVai90 Thank you. You're not just a metal supporter and I like that. People need to know that hip hop is music too!
is there any where you can see this letter?
what song is that at 1:40?
He did say he's had trouble, but he's gotten help any time it's become a real issue.
I'm a nirvana fan and I completely agree.
"That's not music tv, that's one type of music tv" , he's so right, they should play less hip-hop and pop on MTV, and bring back some fucking Rock!!
And the band's name, they spelled it Megadeath 2:41 :D
The subtitles says "Megadeath" :P
He's so freaking smart Love him! Dave Mustaine for president!
@ANDYB1478 Yes, he should have the right because he actually took the effort to dig his way out of the hole instead of whining about his life and offing himself. Suicide is one of the weakest things you could do when faced with a great challenge and Dave is rightfully pointing that out.
The year i was born
What is this 'internet' of which you speak, Dave? It sounds like a fascinating development!
"See you on the internet!" "Nemesis" (if that is his REAL NAME) forgot the plural!
Brilliant Mustaine!
WHAT IS DAVE'S EMAIL ADDRESS!?!?!??!!?!!!!!!!!!!
Lol Mustane, btw what does he say at the beggining? I can't tell
HOW DO U EMAIL DAVE MUSTAINE
Megadeth is spelled wrong in the subtitles!!! :(
Dave looks really strung out during this interview.
word, this guy said the truth
Okay, so he was right about that internet thing, they don't really play metal and rock on MTV, so the internet is a good channel for that kind of music.
i wouldnt class myself as a metal fan.... but i dig megadeth and Dave.... he has ALWAYS had time for his fan's and always treats them well.... that has to be respected... he's a different kettle of fish compared to all these other egotystical rockers (you know who they are)
I don't know anyone who hasn't had any sort of problem that makes one person think that way.
"if someone sent me a email i could reply to it in 2 or 3 days." lol
Actually I didn't know that, I don't know and I can't know that (if he was murdered) so I can't say anything about that. But I still prefer Mustaine over Cobain every day of the year
it wasn't just lars, it was all three members' decision.
they misspelled "mustaine"
he didn't say that mustaine said that, those were separate, he's saying mustaine was right about him. then he said kobain sucked on guitar, that's it, not connected.
Mustaine for president ¡¡
he's right about MTV being one kind of music.just saw the ads for the VMA's an nothing but hiphop/rap an even then they still dont play that, every time i pass through the channel i always see some shitty reality show of a bunch of people being assholes to each other, thats not music.
He was like, "Yeah, Dave and I have conversations all the time... do you?"
dont forget 16 and pregnat and teen mom
Hell yeah for VH1 Classic!!!!...Except what pisses me off is that the videos they show are mostly hair metal...I want them to put more thrash in there...
who is that guy at the end of the video?
Dave is the man. Period.
@ANDYB1478 Why, because he tells the truth? Dave's lyrics are actually intelligent and thought-provoking, not just whiny teen angst.
you do realize that this was broadcast in '95 right?
I know, but they misspelled it,,look at it again,
4:15
Gee, she sure was thrilled...
True hip-hop artists don't solely talk about how much sex they have or how much money they have, that's known as commercial music. Metal isn't the only genre that has posers is what I mean.
The first website came out in 1969.
@oyhe94 are you serious ????!!! internet started to develop in the late 80´s....
Back when e-mails took 3 days and longer to arrive. :D
and at 2:42 it says Megadeath
@Brutalyeah I appreciate what they do and what they're about. It's entirely a taste issue. I was just never able to get past his voice.
Trump's blacklisting on the internet be hitting different
Translate....in English.
2:40 it's not Megadeath. When will people learn it?
Dave, your my hero
