    It’s time to remove or at least relax the facial hair policy. George Steinbrenner put it place because he wanted his players to look like businessmen. Well, businessmen look as diverse as anyone else these days. At the least, I think they could allow guys to keep a nice tight goatee.

      Bader was a beast and he singlehandedly carried the Yanks along their postseason run last year, too bad he's injury prone and had an awful season at the plate. I'd take him any day of the week over Hicks. But they're all gone now so yeah, lol

      They had a trade for Pablo Lopez that fell through at the last minute. But yeah... very bizarre to trade an extremely solid middle rotation guy (who has only gotten better since leaving the Yankees) for a defensive center fielder with an injury history. Even when Bader was raking for the Yanks, it felt like they could've gotten him for way way less than what they gave up.

    • @pip393
      @pip393 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite, considering the Judge contract Ohtani might be out of reach even for the Yankees. As you know the Yanks are desperately in need of left handed hitters and even though Ohtani does bat left handed the Yanks would be better advised to spend what it would take to lock in Ohtani by obtaining two other really good players elsewhere for the same price.
      After this abysmal season obviously the team requires a complete revamp from upper management down. The Cashman and Boone era has run its course and this is a really old team. What more will it take to prove that Cashman (with his many disastrous trade failures) cannot recognize young talent capable of delivering consistent quality baseball. The entire team with the exception of a few is a major disappointment and both Cashman and Boonie should pay the price. This is the New York Yankees for God's sake and the city does not deserve this never ending level of sub par catastrophic play.

      I totally agree two more players for what would we would pay Ohtani makes sense, problem is what two players? Currently we need LF,CF,1B and weak at 3B, C and SS honestly, I had high hopes for Volpe but honestly .200 avg 160 plus strikeouts with good speed but does not get on base and somewhat a weak arm. Peraza also did not impress, its hard to watch because we have become so use to strikeouts and low batting avg but high HR that have resulted in nothing since 2009. Bellinger in CF I would like, move on from injured players some how, Stanton, Rizzo, even DJ has fallen off the map and is now just a really good glove with so so pop. Its depressing.

    i'd say that Snell, Ohtani, and Soto are pretty much off the table given the financial picture. Once you add in the contracts for all the arbitration eligible players, you probably only have 10-15 million of pre tax threshold room. So anything big is immediately over the line.
    Bellinger is a strong contender, and probably makes the most sense to spend a bit on for the Yanks. i could also see some mid-tier starters (10-12 mil/year range) to thicken up the rotation depth.
    I'd like to see them sign Hyun-Jin Ryu to a cheap deal. That surgically repaired arm has seemed fine in his few starts back, and he could be a great value pick-up.

    I agree with Yamamoto and lee. Bellinger is risky, but I think he’s worth it as long as they don’t overpay. As much as I love ohtani 500 mil+ is way to risky for someone with 2 Tommy John’s surgeries. No point trading for soto when you can wait a year to nab him in free agency, and Montgomery would be an amazing pickup if they don’t manage to sign Yamamoto.

    The Yankees have to get Rizzo and Stanton off their books. Mainly Stanton...even if you have to throw in a prospect. I see the Yankees signing two Japanese players. The top priority is Yamamoto. Get him a friend and shore up that bullpen by signing Fujinami. Forget Ohtani. No chance he will leave the West Coast. The FA list is pretty pathetic so they are going to have to be creative. If Stanton can be dealt and Bellinger becomes an FA, he might be a good signing. They need someone to get on base in front of Judge so the Yankees should inquire about Luis Arraez. Easier said than done, but they need better hitters because the pitchers can't keep carrying them all season.

If there is one thing we have learned from the Baltimore Orioles, is the farm system will eventually pay dividends. We have a great group of young talent headed our way and I think the team is only going to get better. These final games have already proven this. No extension to Severino and possibly try to get rid of Stanton in the off-season.
    My opening day roster for Yankees in 2024:
    C: Trevino
    1B: Rizzo
    2B Torres
    3B LeMahieu
    SS: Volpe
    LF: Soto (if no Soto -> Cabrera)

    All these targets and possible acquisitions aren’t going happen. You have a Frugal owner who had a hard time extending Judge and he just gave Rodon a big contract which so far hasn’t worked out. You now expect him to trade assets for Soto who’s going to command $400M or try and grab a Yamamoto who will probably also get $180M to $200M. Not a chance. The old Steinbrenner possibly would’ve done it.

  • @bubbaandbella

    Yamamoto and Soto. That’s it. I would trade Jones, Pereira, you know what anyone except Arias, Luis Serna, Thorpe, and Mayea. If you acquire Soto you’re thinking you can sign him. So outfield for the next 6 years or so is set. Soto, Dominguez, Judge. Wow. Hopefully Wells works out at catcher. They should know about Volpe by the time Arias is ready. All the Gleyber hating needs to stop. Extension. We are stuck with Stanton unless we give the Dodgers Fitts and Sweeney to take that contract. Whatever it is, It will hurt Third well is that Peraza or someone else? First not sure either, DJ/Rizzo, and then a prospect or low cost defensive guy. To go all in with the Soto trade means that The Yankees are willing to spend Mets money. Not sure that will happen. If I had to bet I would say there two big moves will be Yamamoto and trading Stanton, which we will have to give up prospect capital like we are acquiring a decent player. Expect no one of any consideration back.

    Instead of Juan Soto, how about trading for his teammate Ha Seong Kim? He’s one of the best defensive infielders in the game who had a breakout season last year with the bat. He’s also a LOT cheaper than Soro. Soto’s. a great hitter, but his defense is a little suspect.

    I would look at Soto who is young and a good lefty bat in the Bronx. But I would not give him a contract longer than 6 years. And the selling point would be when the 6 year contract is over he will be 30 years old.
    His state .275 BA, 35 homers, 108 RBI.

  • @davidclark6694

    Bellinger and Yamamoto make the most sense. Lee would be a consolation prize.
    Bellinger can play Center while Dominguez is out, then slide over to left field or first base when rizzo is gone.
    Soto makes sense in free agency, not via trade.
    Ohtani would be perfect, but i don't think he wants to be a Yankee. Plus, they won't be able to move Stanton.
    Lee would mean they have to trade Florial and or Everson. Im okay with that as Lee is an impressive contact hitter.
    The problem is Hal Steinbrenner does not believe in increasing payroll. He won't increase it because he won't admit he already made bad purchases, ie stanton.
    I think you can convert King to replace Severino and try to sign Yamamoto, Bellinger, and Lee.
    Ohtani isn't coming and im concerned with his 2 TJ surgeries already, Snell is an illusion of greatness, and Soto doesn’t make sense via trade.

  • @tonyjones4610
    @tonyjones4610 ปีที่แล้ว

    If they believe in Jones there is no place for Lee. I would only sign a big long term outfielder if it Bellinger because he can move to 1st after Rizzo is gone. If they don’t believe in Jones I’d still go after Bellinger over Lee because success in Korea is not success in MLB Bellinger is more of a safe move.

    Not a Yankees fan but this is a great video. Totally agree with Cody Bellinger who is a superb athlete who gives any team incredible flexibility. One of the main reasons the "Unicorn" signed on with the Angels and a West Coast team at all is the large Japanese population and accessibility for fans visiting from Japan.
