Honestly, Realistically, Optimistically… I think Fields is the guy. I think you invest in him like the Eagles invested in Hurts and Moneyball the team. Justin has the traits to be like the Steelers version of a Hurts and Lamar in a modern NFL offense. The Steelers have an opportunity to leap into the modern NFL and run an offense similar to the eagles and ravens with Fields. The Steelers won’t lose enough games to get the top QB prospects in 2026 so I say make lemonade. That’s where you want to be. I believe in Justin and he had a ton of plays this year that got wiped from penalties and poor offensive line play. The tape shows growth and maturity in his game and I thought he was getting better before getting pulled for Russ. I believe in Justin and I think it’s wise to build around him and develop his confidence and leverage his skillset. It could be amazing IMO.
Fields is better than hurts he doesn't need as complete of a team as Hurts does... he has showed he doesn't need the best OL but he does need weapons and a good OC
Yes I agree when people say idk if he’s a franchise qb why not I don’t get it what qb would’ve been successful in the tanking the bears did and with the Steelers he would’ve been 6-0 if defense gets a stop he got the lead in both loses in the fourth quarter
Once you get into draft stuff more, I’d love to see graphics, stats, or clips of the player you’re allowed to use. It really adds to the visual aspects of your already stellar analysis. Great video as always bro.
I understand you not a Fields fan but a lot of you address his play without context .. but anytime you guys talk about these other young QB's you have ALL this grace for them.
Last year there was some talk about the areas that the Steelers needed to improve, and D-line was one of them. But when the opportunity arrived, the talk and the action petered-out. They did good an inside linebacker, and made an effort to patch together a half-way competent QB room, but when it came to the Big Uglies on the D-line, the silence was deafening. Do you think that they will do something to correct that? As far as the QB situation, I think the best they can do is bring-in somebody who is a QB whisperer and have Justin Fields give it a shot. Russell Wilson ain't growing any taller, and the middle ain't getting more use. Ride-on, Russ!
Jaylen warren deserves something more than the least. The dude has been behind najee 3 years even after producing more..he's undrafted and plays with that fire that most of these guys dont. The organization tends to hold loyalty over production and sit the better player. Beanie gets 3 picks and then sits for Cam Sutton. Nick herbig gets strip sacks and loses reps😂 I only understand that because Alex Highsmith is still a guy but still.
dude didn’t play healthy all year. you trust that being the starter not to mention the dude fumbles a lot compared to Najee. If you think you’re going into next season with Warren as your bell cow you’re on crack. They need someone else if not Najee
Someone said Arthur didnt like having Russ at qb because he had to come up with pass schemes and I cant unsee it lmao. But let Russ walk. Van, CP, Larry O, Cam Sutton, D Jack (even though he’s made plays) all can go.
There’s fair criticism of the OC but it’s especially odd how much that take conflicts so many other reports throughout the season. I’m not gonna pretend like I know what’s happening but some of these “beat reporters” have been called out by players for writing false reports *cough cough* Gerry Dulac.
Great work!! If the Steelers land a top WR before the draft, is it crazy to think they could draft Tyler Warren? With as many multiple TE sets we run, the offense would be much better with him on the field rather than Pruitt/Heyward. That’s definitely not a popular pick but could be underrated.
Looking forward to the draft show DB. Thoughts on trading down late first for Jahdae Barron? Looks like a swiss army knife and a valuable fit in more ways than one (nickel, safety, boundary, gunner). Also would like your thoughts on Kenneth Grant to the Steelers in round 1. Is he a potential fit here in your opinion?
I’d give Justin the keys to the 2025 season, build around him, see if he develops into someone you want long term and if it doesn’t work then draft a guy in 2026.
Hey DB, I’m thinking that we get two WR in off-season, one FA and another in the draft. I agree with you that we don’t re-sign Smith or Ogunjobi and draft DL with 1st pick. What would be best DL pick? What are the best 2nd/3rd round WR?
I love Tyliek Williams from OSU as our DL pick. He is the best block shedder in the draft. If you believe that Benton has been playing out of position, taking Michigan NT Kenneth Grant would allow Keanu to move to his normal spot.
I think he doesn’t throw in the middle of the field is due to vision issues. How about Wilson as a backup and Fields as the starter? I mean he would obviously have to be open to that role.
Hey DB, question for the draft video. With two Slot guys already on the roster with Roman and Calvin who can the Steelers target in rounds 3-5 that work on the outside? Guys like Burden, Egbuka, Bond, and Restrepo are all talented but mainly excel in the Slot.
Which RB prospects would be the best fit for Arthur Smith wide zone scheme? Also is Emeka strictly an oversized slot similar to Juju or could he play outside?
7:28 lol I agree always had a bone head moment.. I read somewhere that he had ridiculously high test scores for whatever test they take.. you think there is a correlation with high intelligence and processing in the pocket? Like is there too much over thinking for something that flourishes from instinct?
I still think this season was an overachievement. I expected us to be under .500 and was surprised by Fields going 4-2 and then Russ improving on that in the middle stretch. I don't think its a good idea to start a rebuild. We're just coming out of missing on a couple first round picks. I know everyone's down on Coach but I really think he dragged this team kicking and screaming to 10 wins. The offense is not playoff caliber and the biggest hole is of course QB. It's important to not get desperate and waste another first round pick. If a QB isn't there, you have to be willing to wait until next year and add talent to fill the other holes. A miss on a QB is basically a 2-3 year stallout because we all know this team is too conservative to cut a QB loose after 1 year.
Also, hot take, but I think Revel is gonna sneak into the second. Small school, major injury, strong possibility of not being able to test into the draft. If I'm bundling say a third and Pickens to get to the top of the second, I would love taking a swing at him with this upside.
If Jeanty fell to 21 somehow, would u spend the 1st on him? I would, and I’m not big on using firsts on backs but truly special talents like Jeanty I’ll do it.
Regarding the sacks given up by Moore and Jones… blocking for Russell Wilson did them no favors. Ask Okung, ask whoever else blocked for him in Sea & den.
I’m really curious to see what they do at running back. I heard some report this week that they want a guy who can get to the edge. I thought Warren would fit that description but who knows?
George Pickens is a dynamic player, but he's also a dynamic butthead. I believe you are correct about him being traded, but then Mike Tomlin might not do the right thing.
Wow so I tune into the end to hear ideas for QB targets and your prized pic for this pod talks about Skylar Thompson and Tanner McKee as our potential options…. Wow. I get Sam Darnold really fell apart the final 2 games but the guy had a great season. 4500 yds n 35 TDs aren’t chump numbers. To me he’s the clear best option available in this really bad year of potential QB targets. But ya’ll are gonna spend time talkin about Skyler Thompson and Tanner McKee!?
I think they should at least be in the mix for Darnold. I’m not sure that they will be. I’m sure I’ll have more thoughts on him when we do free agency stuff but this was draft focused.
I think we need to get younger at D line, corner, receiver, safety, and TE… I understand our foundation is defense but if we are to be more productive and top offset the large contracts then we need to bring in younger and productive players.. GP has to go unfortunately… I understand he has immense potential but If you can’t do the small things then I can’t trust you… we need to bring in fields give him A FULL YEAR to see what we have and if we don’t like what we see then next year we take a big swing..
Steelers should cut Preston Smith, Cole Holcomb, Larry Ogunjobi, Isaac Seumalo, Connor Heyward, one of the punters. And with the cap generated go and sign Tee Higgins, one CB (Carlton Davis, already wanted by Pitt, DJ Reed, Charvarius Ward) and resign Justin Fields. Just 3 moves needed. And probably sale Pickens and his toxicity to the best offer you can get.
Najee Harris, Cam Sutton, Larry Ogunjobi and Van Jefferson will all get cut. But additionally I would like to trade Minkah. I also think we are going to keep both JF and Russ for at least one more year.
@Cardel34 oh, don’t get me wrong it’s a pass for me as well… I just have a feeling Tomlin is going to be foaming at the mouth to get him in Pittsburgh for what seems like it will be a cheap ish deal.
Not having a preview show to prep for really hurt my soul 😢
But it’s draft season. Hope to have many of you along for the ride! Enjoy your weekend.

You mean Egbuka. Love the guy and won’t complain if he’s the pick at 21.

That said, I know that shit is a lot of extra work so I don’t mean to say it like it’s easy! I know it’s not.
Just subscribe. I love the info. I was curious what the difference between the 2 RB's contract situation was. Great knowledge of the roster.
Excited to see you and Nick do draft evaluations again!
I understand you not a Fields fan but a lot of you address his play without context .. but anytime you guys talk about these other young QB's you have ALL this grace for them.
So happy you and Nick are doing a draft pod again. Missed that show

Can't wait for the draft videos...Should we draft Dart or Ewers in the second or 3rd round to sit for a yearrvand learn...
Warren should be the leadback next year

Hey man what do you think of Kaleb Johnson RB from Iowa? I’d love to see him here in Pittsburgh and he wouldn’t have to change his colors much lol
If Jeanty somehow slid to 21, would you spend the 1st round pick on a RB? I swore I’d never do it again, but yeah I’d do it for Jeanty.
Only if pat meyers is fired and we get a COMPETENT OLine coach. Najee has been behind a shitty line his whole career 😊
I think he doesn’t throw in the middle of the field is due to vision issues. How about Wilson as a backup and Fields as the starter? I mean he would obviously have to be open to that role.

Who would you take at DT at 21? I'm a huge fan of Grant at NT and I think he's exactly what this defense could use moving forward.
If he's an available FA the best RB option is T.Algier of the Atlanta Falcons IMO!!!

1. Kenneth Grant/Tyleik Williams 2. Kaleb Johnson 3. Savion Williams/ Kyren Lacy 4. Cobee Bryant / Melo Dotson 5. Riley Leonard 6. Simeon barrow jr 7. Nash hutmacher 8 Shiloh sanders

Yassss! Fields as a temporary bridge starter and go after Archie Manning in 2026.
I don’t see us playing badly enough to have a legitimate shot at Manning
As long as Tomlin is coach, what does it matter?
Steelers should cut Preston Smith, Cole Holcomb, Larry Ogunjobi, Isaac Seumalo, Connor Heyward, one of the punters.
