This song is absolutely beautiful. The amount of emotion in every second is unreal. The instrumentals and riffs are like the instruments are in pain, I fell in love with this song, an instant favorite. The melancholic lyrics mix perfectly with the raw emotion bleeding through the instrumentals. It's sad to see there isn't nearly as much recognition as there should be. And the harmony on 'eternal schemes' always gets me, I get goosebumps every time I listen. Thank you.
This is a gem of a song. The heavier parts are hard rocking at its best, and the softest parts are more delicate and melodic than just about anything out there. A fantastic achievement.

I just found this song because a pastor's son talked about Opeth in their reaction video to Jinjer's "Pisces" and just....... this song is so ominous. Opeth are a Swedish Heavy Metal Band from Stockholm, formed in 1989. The band has been through several personnel changes over the years, but Lead Vocalist, Guitarist & Songwriter Lars Mikael Åkerfeldt has remained Opeth’s primary driving force throughout the years. Opeth has consistently incorporated Progressive, Folk, Blues, Classical and Jazz Influences into its usually lengthly compositions, as well as influenced by Death Metal, especially in their earlier works. Many songs include Acoustic Guitar Passages and Strong Dynamic Shifts, as well as both Death Growls and Clean Vocals which is completely showcased in Opeth’s song, “Porcelain Heart.” The Current Members of Opeth are: Mikael Åkerfeldt- Guitars & Lead Vocals, Martín Méndez- Bass, Martin “Axe” Axenrot- Drums & Percussion, Fredrik Åkesson- Guitars & Backing Vocals, and Joakim Svalberg- Keyboards & Synthesizers & Piano & Mellotron & Backing Vocals. ‘Watershed’ is the ninth full-length studio album by Opeth. Released by Roadrunner Records. The album is, as of 2017, the band’s last album to contain any death growls or death metal elements. The Members of Opeth on 19 April 2008 when “Porcelain Heart” was released were: Mikael Åkerfeldt- Vocals & Guitar, Fredrik Åkesson- Guitar, Per Wiberg- Keyboards & Synthesizer, Martín Méndez- Bass and Martin Axenrot-Drums. “Porcelain Heart” is Track #5 on the album and Mikael Åkerfeldt wrote the lyrics, Fredrik Åkesson wrote the music. I turned to my friends
(Nothing to say)
I wrote down a name
(And read it twice)
I wallowed in shame
I said that I love (Eternal schemes)
I clinged to my past
(Like childish dreams)
I promised to stay
(And held my breath)
I went far away
Icy roads beneath my feet
Led me through wastelands of deceit
Rest your head now, don't you cry
Don't ever ask the reason why
Kept inside our idle race
Ghosts of an idol's false embrace
Rest your head now, don't you cry
Don't ever ask the reason why
