Saw him last weekend and the crowd was probably the most well behaved crowd I've ever seen. When he did this song you could hear a pin drop in the theater.
I once saw ed sheeran struggling to play a song called 'make you feel my love' live to an audience of drunk people. It's here on TH-cam try find it. Literally people shouted over the song, a women got her friend on the phone and put it to ed sheerans ear while he was playing! All of this and he still tried putting a smile on his face and saw it through to the end and then had a drink with all of them (This was just before he blew up famous). You can't be rude to your fans like this, throwing tantrums telling everyone to stfu because it kills the energy, it does nothing positive for you show! Just see it through to end and people will still respect you that you managed to keep playing

What people need to realize is that he wasn’t mad at the people cheering and clapping and woohooing. He was saying shut up to the people who were heckling him and and yelling at him to play a song of their request. I have been to a few of his concerts. This is at the very end of his show. He unplugs and gets personal. He is grateful and this is a thank you to his fans and he plays it acoustically with no mic or speakers. It’s actually pretty amazing when everyone shuts up and all you can hear is him and his guitar.

And one of the things I've learned from these experiences, is that the older crowd of concert goers are even more loud, arrogant and disrespectful at shows than the younger crowds. The older ones get stupid drunk and belligerent and make themselves look like total assholes.
I met this guy right after they got signed, before they recorded a note. He was in a state of shock that they had been discovered. He was very humble and grateful for his big break. I guess 20 years of people blowing smoke up your ass will change a guy’s attitude.

I work at a major Nashville music venue that is pretty famous. The crowd sometimes talks while the artists are on stage. It sucks. I thought you came for the music. If you want to have a conversation, take it out to the lobby.
If he played the Listening Room the crowd would be a little more reasonable and not talk around the stage they would have been around the bar. Where he is playing it looks like they where wanting the next band to come on and wanted him to finish.

A couple of things. I've played a hell of a lot of shows over the years. I'm just another performer that most have never heard of. A drummer first, a sound guy, recording engineer, music store owner, acoustic soloist, song writer, and front man in a band. Kind of typical things if you are able to handle this type of business. I'm going to try and not criticize the performer or the audience. This looks like a no win situation and both a poor judgement call mixed with rudeness. It's tough. The audience wants to party and laugh it up. He the well known artist is trying to perform heartfelt art. Sometimes as a performer you make the wrong call and read the audience wrong. In this case he made mistake #1, read it wrong and tried to pull off a unplugged performance to a wound up audience. That was the mistake. This performance should have been amplified fully. Loud enough to hopefully draw the audience in. Unfortunately his unplugged attempt went unnoticed and unheard, understandably so. Mistake #2 was blaming the audience. Yes, they were rude, I get it. Sometimes as a performer you don't always get to create the mood. My goal as a performer is to read the audience quickly and try to involve them in anyway possible. It's like driving with your family headed to a quiet restaurant hoping for your favorite meal when the kids start yelling we wanna eat at a burger joint with a playground. You know how that's gonna end. lol All I can say from here is, "Respect". Respect each other. Being up there isn't as easy as it looks. It's simply rude to talk when someone is performing. It's the job of the artist to make the connection with the audience, but you aren't going to connect unplugged to people ready to party unless you're doing comedy. He chose "poorly".

I once saw ed sheeran struggling to play a song called 'make you feel my love' live to an audience of drunk people. It's here on TH-cam try find it. Literally people shouted over the song, a women got her friend on the phone and put it to ed sheerans ear while he was playing! All of this and he still tried putting a smile on his face and saw it through to the end and then had a drink with all of them (This was just before he blew up famous). You can't be rude to your fans like this, throwing tantrums telling everyone to stfu because it kills the energy, it does nothing positive for you show! Just see it through to end and people will still respect you that you managed to keep playing

What people need to realize is that he wasn’t mad at the people cheering and clapping and woohooing. He was saying shut up to the people who were heckling him and and yelling at him to play a song of their request. It’s a thank you song he does at the end always, and people were acting disrespectful and ungrateful by heckling him, even though he was literally trying to say thank you to them. It’s the idiots that yell “PLAY THIS SONG” and literally talk through the whole set, which is insanely disrespectful. He has every right to walk off stage.

He is grateful and this is a thank you to his fans and he plays it acoustically with no mic or speakers. It’s actually pretty amazing when everyone shuts up and all you can hear is him and his guitar.

I work at a major Nashville music venue that is pretty famous. The crowd sometimes talks while the artists are on stage. It sucks. I thought you came for the music. If you want to have a conversation, take it out to the lobby.
If he played the Listening Room the crowd would be a little more reasonable and not talk around the stage they would have been around the bar. Where he is playing it looks like they where wanting the next band to come on and wanted him to finish.

A couple of things. I've played a hell of a lot of shows over the years. I'm just another performer that most have never heard of. A drummer first, a sound guy, recording engineer, music store owner, acoustic soloist, song writer, and front man in a band. Kind of typical things if you are able to handle this type of business. I'm going to try and not criticize the performer or the audience. This looks like a no win situation and both a poor judgement call mixed with rudeness. It's tough. The audience wants to party and laugh it up. He the well known artist is trying to perform heartfelt art. Sometimes as a performer you make the wrong call and read the audience wrong. In this case he made mistake #1, read it wrong and tried to pull off a unplugged performance to a wound up audience. That was the mistake. This performance should have been amplified fully. Loud enough to hopefully draw the audience in. Unfortunately his unplugged attempt went unnoticed and unheard, understandably so. Mistake #2 was blaming the audience. Yes, they were rude, I get it. Sometimes as a performer you don't always get to create the mood. My goal as a performer is to read the audience quickly and try to involve them in anyway possible. It's like driving with your family headed to a quiet restaurant hoping for your favorite meal when the kids start yelling we wanna eat at a burger joint with a playground. You know how that's gonna end. lol All I can say from here is, "Respect". Respect each other. Being up there isn't as easy as it looks. It's simply rude to talk when someone is performing. It's the job of the artist to make the connection with the audience, but you aren't going to connect unplugged to people ready to party unless you're doing comedy. He chose "poorly".
