St. Augustine Beach mayor says he’s been getting phone calls about the pier

The pier in St. Augustine Beach is quite a sight to see. “Beautiful. It’s not that bad,” Ryan Smith said.

The pier was never long enough. Even before the nourishment when the beach was eroded, the pier was barely in the water.

It was once 1300 ft long and they only rebuilt it back to 800ft

If they would place a reef structure or jetty similar to Mayport has the beach erosion would be delayed or even reversed. Also sea life would be attracted and fishing would improve.

Hundreds of yards of beach before the water is not acceptable when you have a fishing pier that you practically covered in sand mayor your not too smart
