This is so awesome! As someone who has lived 22 years with a brachial plexus injury, it's so inspirational to see someone willing to put themselves through this
I broke my ankle and it was absolutely horrible. Moving a heavy cast while being in so much pain sucks. Sleep was impossible. I also had to give myself injections of blood thinners so I didn’t get a blood clot form in my leg. Injury really sucks so thank you for trying it out for a day and trying to understand how it feels.
What pain are you talking about? I tore my biceps. Had it fixed 10 weeks ago. Wearing an orthosis isn't comfortable but it does not cause any pain. You get used to it pretty quickly.
It’s not painful at all, I broke my wrist a few years ago, and the cast doesn’t hurt, the first week it’s uncomfortable af, but after that u get used to ti. Same thing when I broke my shoulder, probably the worst thing thing is sleeping
Hey Browney, I wanted to take a moment to appreciate your incredible experiment on exercise. It's not often that we see someone so dedicated and passionate about exploring the benefits of physical activity. Your experiment was truly inspiring and informative, and it's clear that you put a lot of time and effort into it. Your dedication to your own health and well-being is truly admirable, and I'm sure that your findings will help others to make positive changes in their own lives. Keep up the great work, Browney
Thanks for shedding light on this. I have a SLAP tear, 4/6 segments of my labrum in the shoulder are completely torn and severed. Basically my arm is dislocated on the inside. And I've gained too much weight to be happy with 😔 I have surgery this Friday and then I'm getting back on that grind 💪 Injuries do happen, and when they do its totally okay and to be expected to lose your physique and gain a few pounds. What's important is focusing on healing and healing well so you can get back to the grind when you're all better.
Broke my arm 6 months ago , had to get surgery and insert bar and screws , having a broken arm and walking with it to the hospital might have been the worst experience of pain I’ve indured . Ive go back to working out 2 months ago ( I’ve been working out for almost 2 years ) and the damage that was done made me devastated, I now look so bad my physique is messed up , increased body fat , lost allot of muscle but I’m glad and thanked god for giving me another chance and keeping my arm , and even if I’m now not as good as before I will keep going
Yeah i experience it, i broke all two Bones from my Aristoteles but its a good injury(The bone did not move anywhere and still in place), i'm Still 11 when i got this thing called "Pen" from the hospital after surgeries.
i broke my arm about a month ago and can relate to all the challenges browney faced in the vid. still have a broken arm by time of comment 💀. you are amazing to put yourself through that for a day though for just some content. keep going strong, browney!
My initial reaction to your video was pretty much horrid...later this video made me think about my own journey of fitness while I was in the recovering after contracting serious illness- 2 months in ICU. I barely could lift my legs or move...I was doing very basic workouts a step literally at a time. It is absolutely crucial to listen to your body and shift your focus on your recovery rather then fearing of losing muscles or getting obese. This was an inspiring video to watch like always. Keep them coming Team Browney!!!
Before I checked the notification of this video i was trying to beat my pull-up reps mark and I was starting to feel pain in my arms. When I saw the first minute of risks and consequences of that injury I thought "I think is enough for today". Like Bob and Browney said in this video: "Warm-up,Listen to your body and Rest" Stay cool people 😎
@@despacitoman1908 Well, I felt it different from pumped. By then I had already finished my work-out but I wanted to go the extra mile. That is the reason of my first comment. Thanks for answering 😁
@@felipejuarez1651 nice dude, keep it up! i wanna train to get muscle up but i think im kinda stupid cuz i can do 18 pull ups but never did a single muscle up
I had to have the large biceps tendon on my right arm cut, wired through a bone, stretched and tied to a titanium anchor drilled deep into my clavicle just last august. That was not a very fun experience, as I had to have that same cast and could not use the arm for almost three months. Everything was hard and scary. But now the pain is gone, I can do more pull-ups than I ever could in my entire life (turns out I had this injury for almost 15 years) and I am back to bouldering and obstacle course racing! What I want to say is: Thanks for making this video! And everyone, be nice to yourself and try to stay healthy.
No disrespect to anyone, but let’s be honest, your friend lost so much of his muscles not because he just didn’t exercise, but because he went off gear
Honestly, I know bob personally from the gym and I think its pretty safe to say that he was never on gear at all. I know some people who lost way more muscle by not working out and they werent even injured (and get everything back within 3 months). Imagine doing zero upper body training for 3 months! Not training for 3 months and still using your upper body in your daily life is completely different from being injured. Being close to your natural peak takes a lot more to maintain than when you are half way there. Also I think its funny that a guy like Greg knows how a natural body works in the first place 😂
Maybe a week later may have revealed more. Luckily it was just a day and not longer. Shows how difficult it is with a handicap and respect to all that have to go through this in their life.
I didn’t even tear my back, just over worked it, and it impacted so much of my day to day life for almost a month that it was excruciating to get over. I cannot imagine how a tear would affect a person as portrayed in this video.
breaking a arm or leg for me sounds horrifying, even if temporary but not being able to do things like sports or working out for months sound horrible. massive respect for those who go through it
Another important thing to avoid muscle tears is that they often happen when the muscle is at its most stretched, so at the bottom of a one-arm pull-up with your arm fully straight, or at the start of a bicep curl (I've heard preacher curls are especially problematic and lead to many such injuries), or at the bottom of a bench press, especially if you do them with elbows flared (which also isn't good for your shoulders btw). So I would assume to minimize risks it's important to do all the steps the guys mentioned in the video and to maybe include a negative or something similar before attempting a heavier weight or harder bodyweight progression from fully straight arms or where your muscles and tendons are stretched very far.
I literally just broke my right arm during arm wrestling. So this is exactly how I'm going thru life now. Sucks to not be able to do anything normally. And the biggest downside is no gym for a long time.
This reminded me of the surgery I had 3 years ago, left shoulder slap tear type 3 and Bicep tenodesis... And it was a nightmare for 6 months in bed as you showed in the video and worse... I lost close to 20 kg and my arm became as thin as my wrist... Now 3 years later I can do 15 pull-ups and 30 dips but I'm far from what I used to do... But if this happen to you never give up!
I have experienced a tear before, but it was a hamstring tear. I've had it for 5 months since February, but this summer, I'm healed and ready to get back!
10:15 when i broke my shin and ankle (snapped the shin in half and broke a massive peice of ankle off and nearly broke a growth plate) i had to shower with that bag. It was not nice to put on
i had a small quad tear on top of my right leg...after months of light athletics i began to push myself again. That small tear got re-injured and became a big tear. Athletic all my life. It was at least three years before I would ever push my legs again. And now, a decade later, I can go all out again, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't in the back of my mind. Up until that point, I had no conception of just how bad muscle tears can be. Broken Bones, concussions, cuts, whiplash...none of it had the impact on my body that a torn muscle does
This is a video i really needed. I just started working out and I have done it alot maybe even to much, seing this I see i need to calm down and see the result come in slowly and it does not need to happen next week.
I had a meniscus tear and repair surgery. The recovery is really long and the loss of muscle condition crazy quick. Physiotherapie is so important. To everyone working out or active in any sport - be cautious, don't do stupid risks and try to prevent injury.
As someone who has a tumor on my right arm and has most movement limited with it, this video really shows the limitation I live with.... I have managed to reach a decent level of fitness regardless of my disability.
When I had right hand injury(I had plaster), i was frustrated because everything was hard to do by my non dominant hand, left hand was almost in same pain as damaged one because of overusing it. I wish all of who read it good health and never get injuries of anything
I recently fractured my elbow bone and I had to wear a tight cast with a sling. I wore it for around 3 weeks and as a 14 year old who went to the gym 3 times a week I lost all my muscle in my left arm. Now I have fully recovered and working on putting muscle again.
i broke AND dislocated my finger at the same time hurt like hell sleeping was horrible but ive had some bad thing happen and been to the hospital more times than i can count bro and surguries but you did great i would never wanna try this
Just recently tore my bicep in late May. Fully recovered now. Even the bicep is coming back again. It was the worst injury ever. I kept working out until late July. I just stopped lifting weights and tried rehabbing it by playing sports like basketball. Surprisingly enough, basketball helped me get better. I tore my left bicep and that's my dominant side. Basketball really helped me get my strength and supination back in that arm. Now I can lift heavy weights and do calisthenics with no problem again. I don't experience random cramps or tweaks. No surgery or physio is required! Just stop lifting for awhile and play sports instead.
Massage Therapist here👋The easiest way to prevent injury (including torn muscles) is to take your time to warm up and 👏STRETCH👏STRETCH👏STRETCH! Not just a quick one either. You should be stretching 20-30 minutes every single day, even on days you don't work out. If you can't extend/flex your arm fully, or have limited range in medial/lateral rotation, you are at risk of injury! People assume that because they are lifting that they are fit enough to avoid injury and that just isn't the case at all. If you trip or slip and fall, move the wrong way you can injure yourself and your progress will be gone in an instant. It takes months, sometimes years to build muscle...and it takes weeks or even days to destroy it all. Muscle atrophy happens way faster than you'd think.
I've once broken my arm and after a month of not being able to move it at all it looked like a raisin and it was really hard to recover, I'm glad it wasn't worse
