Everything about this wonderful hobby is a learning experience. I wish you a ton of success with the changes you make on your layout. Your layout looks great the way it is right now. And you didn't give any indication that the 3-way switch doesn't function...it just doesn't seem right where it's situated to you. This shows you still know what you're doing. Lots of modellers make changes on their layouts, you're NOT the only one. Once again, I wish you a ton of success with any changes you make on your already fabulous looking layout. 👍😉

Big task ahead Ron…you could take the 3way & track out to the road edge…save the road crew some work 😊…put a “tracks not active” sign at the RR crossing…treat the remainder as abandoned with overgrowth…
@@georgiasunbelt thanks Anthony. I'd figured it out awhile ago, just debating whether to go forward with it. I removed the long spur. Just gotta rework the roadway and find a structure to fill in the empty space. I do plan to leave a short section as an abandoned with overgrown weeds. It will be a testbed for static grass applications.
@@secretsofthesoilandkitchen7 Got most of the tracks removed. Now I have to drill the holes for the switch machines, frog wires and recondition the roadbed.
Beautiful layout . Love the backdrop wall buildings. Bet operating your layout is fun. Lots of switching industries. Yeah, that's a tough call removing the 3 way switch. Isn't there a 3 way switch machine ? Walther's Layout Control System Switch machine ? Couldn't you install that without tearing up the track ? Just a thought.
@@ModelingSteelinHO thanks for watching. Adding switch machines wasn't the issue. Visibility and the fact that I'll be using 1 less turnout, removing the spur to nowhere and adding 4" to each yard track. It's worth the makeover.
I'm going to knock on wood....I have an old Model Power 3-Way turnout that I havent had issues with. I better not, its on the Main with one leg being the Boeville Yard lead. Ron, nothing ever goes the way it supposed to. If you have seen the last few video's of mine, you know!

3 WAYS are a pain in the butt. I had a PECO on my old layout and it never worked the way I wanted it to
Thanks for watching Joe. It was a mistake from the beginning and I hoping to overcome it but it was troublesome for switching ops.
