- Tony Twist and Kelly Chase have a combined 27 goals in their NHL careers, but there's no doubt the pair were two of the most popular players in St. Louis Blues history. They sat down for an interview with 5 On Your Side sports director Frank Cusumano on "Sports Plus."

Excellent edition! Thanks Frank.
Great interview! Miss that era of hockey.
39 and 18 two of my favorite blues ever!
These two are my heroes back when hockey was a tough game! 👍🙂 The St. Louis Bruise Brothers! 💪
Steroids and coke brothers is more like it.
What a couple of GREAT guys i miss that NHL
This was a hoot. I was born in '98, but Twist is still the only jersey I'll likely ever wear. What icons! Thanks for having them on the show, this made my week.
Two great guests much respect . Bob M
My Fav Blues players of all time #39 Kelly Chase and #18 Tony Twist...
2 of the best!
This is great. I could listen to these two tell stories all night long.
And the first game I ever went to, I saw Twister score 2 of those 27 goals.
Jan 27, 96 vs Tampa? He also got the game winning goal that game :)
@@RIUUI007 Yes. It was a Saturday afternoon game on FOX. Twist scored both goals in a 2 - 1 game.
@@fantasticvoyage262 I found a couple of newspapers from the day after. Some quotes:
Twist earned the game's No. 1 star and dedicated his big game to his family, which includes wife Jocelyn and children Brittany and Christian.
"This is really exciting, but I'm not kidding anybody. I'm not playing any differently", Twist said, "I was in the right place at the right time." "Every dog has his day and today was mine. Goal scoring is not really my job. My job is to be a good, defensive, strong-in-the-corners type of player, I don't worry about scoring goals. In the last two games, I've matched my output for my entire career. That's ugly. "
"When you're hot, you're hot. He was working and that's what we're looking for", Keenan said, "He played a real tenacious game today and he was rewarded for his effort. We're not looking for scoring from him, but there's no reason he can't contribute some during an 80-game schedule. Every player has a role, and it's a bonus if you can pick up a half-dozen or a dozen goals from them."
"It's exciting for everybody when he scores", Hull said, "He's not known for that, if you think the crowd gets excited you should see the guys on the bench. There are 19 guys excited for him."
"Our biggest bugaboo has been that the guys refuse to shoot", Tampa Bay coach Terry Crisp said, "In the last month, they just don't want to shoot."
Keenan used Twist regularly after his two goals, giving him a chance to get a hat trick.
Twist moved up to left wing on the No. 1 line with Shayne Corson at center and Brett Hull on the wing.
"Can you imagine that?", Twist said, "Me on a line with Corse and Hull. I've never been on the power play, that was quite an honor.
Like I told Al MacInnis, 'When you're breaking out, keep it away from me'."
Twist, of course, is known more for his fights than his finesse. He has as many shots on goal this season - six - as he has fights.
"No one wants to fight him anymore", Dale Hawerchuk said, "So, we figured he'd better start scoring to get in the headlines again."
Moments before his second goal, Twist tried to interest Tampa tough guy Enrico Ciccone in a fight as they battled in front of Puppa, but Ciccone wanted no part of it.
That's when Twist scored.
"They left him alone in front", Courtnall said, "I passed it toward his stick, and he tipped it in. It's always fun to get a guy like that a goal, much less two."
After scoring his second goal, Twist said he was "kind of dumb-founded. I checked my hands to see if they were mine. I asked Brett if he had my gloves.
Two points was the only thing on my mind.
Getting the two points was the most important thing."
The victory pushed the Blues back over the .500 mark with a record of 20-19-8.
Nice. I didn't get to go to the game, but I watched it and taped it.
@@theJohnGaltLine Would you be able to upload it sometime?
Loved these guys back in the day. College days, and lots of partying.
Legends. The game died for me around 2004, when the intensity and aggression disappeared, along with the enforcers. Thanks bettman.
There’s the Quality of those two Guys , very Good
I remember Scott Young, but the sentiment is true, two of my favorites by far.
Watched many games in saskatoon with boys playing (scrapping). Also had the best organist in the league at the Old Barn
Look at the fucken size of Twist's hands.
Tony sounds like he’s hammered. I wouldn’t tell him that to his face though.
When I was a real young kid my dad took me to this taco bell in Manchester. As we are sitting down in my seat I look up and see a big burly man with a mullet sitting across from us and yell "dad look its tony twist!"
Dad looked up, chuckled and said "no that's the one Blue who could beat up Tony twist"
It was Kelly Chase!
Look at the size of Twisters hands. DAMN!
He was at my work to replace some windshields in our tractors last week. I asked him to see his right hand, fisted up. I am not even kidding, each knuckle looked like a 32 oz ball peen hammer.
Francois Leroux actually did play 2 weeks later on the last game of 98.
Esmeraldas hell yeah boys!Saskatoon in the heyday
Would be awesome to have twist as your boss
Holy cow.. Twist looks like hes been doing those Mike Tyson neck rolls.. Looks like hes in great shape.. I miss watching hIm and Chase pummeling people
Twist looks like he’s still juicing on a daily basis
Probably TRT. He looks in good shape pretty lean and muscular.
Dont steal the real bruze brothers moniker. Tony was a beast kelly was a punching bag
Twist looks like he’s ready to get out there and scrap right now
Chase looks good and healthy. Twist less so.
roids are a bitch
👊🏻🐐s
the reason kelly remembers everything ,its coz he never smoke pot lolol.he said it with knuckles lol.i miss old style hockey
Is that interviewer wearing a wig?
"Go bald, Jim. Can't you face up to that?"
Dr Oz Sportscaster
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Plager Brothers could actually PLAY - and they were FAR tougher than these jamoques.
Bob Plager was the guy who signed these two . but you are right - they really didn;;t resemble NHL hockey players - especially Twist . He would get basically one shift a game -- to go fight otherwise he didn't get on the ice.
Bet you won’t say it to their faces though. 😂
If you ever get the chance, ask Brett Hull about Twist and Chase. Better yet, assert to Hull that they couldn't play. He'll open your eyes on the subject.
Worst hair piece of all time!!!!!!!!!!!
Is Twist still enjoying the money he won from that idiotic cashgrab lawsuit against Todd MacFarlane?
If he spend it wisely, then yes.
Twister still juicing.
