    "Skills over speed". Few words, infinite wisdom.

    • @CanyonWanderer

      That would be wise advice as well for all the ~60 years+ people in The Netherlands getting on to their new e-bikes after having no cycling experience for the past 25 years.
      An average couple takes up space of about 75 % of a two-way bike lane. Starting riding again after a stop does not involve ANY looking left or right. Signalling direction does not exist. In fact, in NL the only people still signalling direction are the teenagers that still have to or just passed their cycling traffic exams and cyclists on anything but e-bikes or city bikes. Road etiquette is down to a low 😞

    This is FANTASTIC, Francis! What a cool club. Kudos to you for giving them this exposure.

    I've always found that confidence is the key thing that needs to be built, so skills over speed is really where it needs to be with learning. They can work on the speed later on if they like. Shaking off the persona that cycling is just for men is also something that needs to be addressed. This club looks like it's doing great, and good luck to them. Running a cycling club is very hard and time consuming, but the rewards of seeing people happy and cycling is something that money can't buy.

    Very fine. It seems that "kids mucking around on bikes" is a lot less a thing these days... so good to see the skills getting taught, and in a manner that isn't learn-by-consequence.

    Francis, where are the captions? It's slightly taking the micky to do a video about inclusion in cycling, and then exclude vast swathes of disabled people from being able to watch it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make your videos accessible to deaf / hard of hearing people, or anyone else who may require captions. Lots of people do for lots of different reasons (neurodivergence, English as a 2nd language etc etc).

    • @Cade_Media
      @Cade_Media  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Hannah, automatic captions are switched on for all my videos but take a while to kick in (I upload immediately after editing and the processing takes a while apparently).
      I would like to explore better captions than the automatic ones but not really sure how to go about this, unfortunately I don't have time to do it manually for every video. I will do some research

    • @hannahm5910
      @hannahm5910 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Cade_Media Hi Francis. Here is a video about how to do it.th-cam.com/video/tWbNrm7Jo5c/w-d-xo.html You don't have to type them out manually or anything, just use the TH-cam tool to publish the English captions (meaning the words will come up as a block of text rather than as individual words) and then quickly check through and make sure there are no glaring errors. The auto captions are bad for 2 reasons - 1, they flash up in time with the speech meaning anyone relying them has to keep their eyes glued to the bottom of the screen, rather than being able to scan the words quickly and then look up at the video. Words at the beginning and end of sentences often get randomly missed, or pop up at the wrong time as well, which is very confusing, and 2., they are innaccurate with techy language. If you just format them, they will appear as one block, which is SO much easier to follow - that literally involves clicking a few buttons. If you can take 5 minute to read through and correct spelling errors, so much the better. It really isn't that hard and doesn't take long and makes such a massive difference to the people that need captions.
