I am retired Police Officer on medical disable, and I watch alot of video's on flying and I like this video, keep up the video's I watch alot at night and after midnight, you make it look easy to fly. Thank you for the fun of watching..God Bless you and your family..
I'm pretty new to the flight sim world and have not long joined a virtual airline (Fly UK). One of the first aircraft I downloaded was a freeware version of the B1900 which I've enjoyed learning to fly a lot. I was contemplating getting the Carenado payware version of the 1900 but this looks like it would be more interesting. Thanks again Froogle, it's videos like these from people like you (and FSXGenius) that really helped me to understand flying on FSX.
Not a bad briefing, but here's a good one too. It covers things pretty good and it's the one we did last week at Flight Safety in LaGuardia. "This will be a standard left seat departure off runway 12 as per "XXXX departure" . Flaps in T/O position. We're at 12,500 lbs Speeds are: V1 94, Vr 94, V2 106 and Vyse 121. We'll set 2230 lbs of torque (max power). We'll abort for any red lights, malfunctions or loss of directional control prior to V1. Anything at or above that will be considered an in-flight emergency. If we have an engine failure above V1, calls will be "Engine failure, max power", positive rate, gear up. I'll identify the failed engine, I'll have you confirm that they affected engine has failed, it has auto-feathered and if we have a fire. If the engine has not auto-feathered we'll confirm it and feather it manually right away. I'll climb at V2 (106 kts) up to 400 feet, I'll pitch for Vyse (121), I'll call for flap retraction then continue climbing maintaining Vyse. If there is a fire, we'll do the "Engine Fire Shut down drill" at 400 feet. We'll level off at XXXX altitude, declare an emergency and return for ILS runway.... XXX " Just a quick question.. .why would you set such little torque?
This 3 part video is the best series I have ever seen. You set a very high standard for all other youtube Flight Sim submitters. You have answered many questions I have had for several years about turbine aircraft managements. Thank you.
As a commercial pilot IRL and an avid virtual pilot I have a few comments. The first glaring omission I noticed was that you did not bring the condition levers to high idle before takeoff. Now, I have flow B350's and B200's but I have never flown one with the engine modifications that this mod simulates. HOWEVER, I can't imagine any engine configuration or modification that would NOT require you to have the condition levers full forward. So for good practice and virtual flying always ensure that you perform a REDs, BLUEs, GREENs check prior to takeoff and landing. (If you haven't heard the RBG flow before, Reds = Mixtures/Condition Levers forward, Blues = Propeller Levers forward, Greens = Landing gear check for 3 green lights on landing) The next two items have been spoken about but I would like to add my own personal touches. After takeoff when you retract the gear immediately switch off all non-essential lighting. As someone else mentioned when the gear retracts the landing lights are now housed in the wheel well so it is pointless to have the switch in the on position. The ironic thing about checklists is that they don't always contain every single item during each phase of flight. You pick up certain "trade secrets" during training and flying for a FAR part 91 or 135 company. Landing lights off after gear up selection is one of those. Lastly, the flap debacle. I can't stress this enough, not every airplane needs flaps deployed for takeoff. The King Air is one of those airplanes. Unless you are on a super short runway with a heavy load then leave the flaps UP for takeoff. Schelling53 mentioned a lot of good points that I won't bother to go into detail about but overall I enjoyed the review of the add on and have subsequently purchased it.
Again pretty good comments here. This is the sequence that we use once we're ready for take off, (considering it's a two crew aircraft) PF = Pilot flying PM = Pilot Monitoring PF: calls "Rolling..." PM: responds "Check..." PF: (advanced power levers) / PM calls "Ignition lights out, auto-feather armed" PF: calls "Set Power" / PM sets power to about 2100 lbs and they raise up to about 2230 lbs PM: cals "70 kts crossched...." V1 Rotate PF rotates PM: calls "Positive rate" / PF calls "Gear up" PF: retracts gear, turns the ldg / taxi lights off PF climbs the plane at 121 up to 400 ft / PM calls "400 feet" PM: calls for "FLAPS UP" / PM retracts flaps calls "Flaps are up" PF keeps the climb going and accelerates to 160 kts (our initial climb speed) PM calls "1000 feet" PF: calls "Set Climb Power" / PM reduces prop RPM to about 1900 the Torque should be around 2100 lbs a side... ensures ITTs, etc are not exceeded. (normal ITT for climb is 770*C but companies may choose to have them lower as per SOPs) PM: calls "Climb power set" PF" Calls "After Take off checks" etc....
B200 SPECIFIC question :The right propeller is operating at a higher RPM then the left propeller synchroscope will show a) a black and white cross pattern spins in anti-clockwise direction b)blue and yellow cross pattern spins in clockwise direction c) black and white cross pattern spins clockwise direction d) a black and white cross pattern remain stationary
Nice series on the King Air. Very informative. It would be interesting to see this on an X-Plane platform with the 200 or Carenado's Baron (twin I currently fly). Mike P
Hey froogle, this is awesome :D Have you ever heard of the FeelThere Embraer series? The ERJ-135/145/170/190 to be precise. I like them and they're also (as far as I know) very detailed and also come with a manual on how to do start-up and it's all pretty realistic imo :)
wow! complex aircraft, though I imagine very rewarding once you get the hang of it. As always really good instructional vid Pete, looking forward to the next one :)
Hey Froogle, Another great video, this aircraft looks like it may be the next step for me as I am used to the cessna 172, but find the ngx and the dash 8 a bit too complex for my flight experience. I originally got the carenado B1900 to fill the gap, but I may get this for my next step. Have you tried the carenado B1900 and if so, how similar are these aircraft in complexity and performance? Looking forward to your next video.
Great vid froogle. You seem to be getting lovely overcast skies in as next my cloud cover is still very bitty and haphazard. i wonder how you got yours to look so great - do you have max cloud draw distance?
Great vid! One Question: In the PFD the ISA and OAT are in Fahrenheit and on the Cruise speed tables their in Celsius. Is there a way to change the unit on the PFD?
Hello Froogle, awesome video of the new Super KingAir from Flight1. Im definitely considering buying that in the near future. Just a question have you made any videos linking on the common problems that windows 7 64 bit gets? Like these fatal errors? only cause ive made the best tweaks for my FSX but still crashes on me after doing an awesome flight? Hope you can reply back to this comment.
Awesome video man. As usual. Hey if you get a moment, and you have a Nvidia card. Could you tell me your nVidia Inspector settings? Mainly the Anisotropic Filtering section. I think I have it set right but would like to compare it to someone who gets such clear textures. Between froogle, Tony Grant and FSX Genius, FSX will never die, I dont know about you. But I think without these guys FSX would be a far different sim, for the worse. Great job and as long as the videos roll I'll keep watching :) Thanks froogle!!
It doesn't matter with the King Air whether you have the condition levers in high or low idle. When I did my sim training we didn't even touch them after startup. I believe high idle is beneficial for short field operations since the engines go into reverse quicker if I remember correctly.
Great video!! I just purchased this aircraft very cool! What are your computer specs and the camera that you use to look around the plane? thanks lad!!
+frooglesim Oh ok no worries!! The graphics were nice!! Do you still fly? I am a real pilot and I had a college course on the king air. I had to give a presentation on the fuel system....not too complex but very advanced.
froogle has -21f and isa -2 at 22,000 i have oat +30 and isa+39 so my itt its almost red.....oat cant be rising while climbing....not ven at alaska.....
You mentioned there was a tailwind and that wasn't great. I thought a tail wind was a good thing? correct me if I'm wrong or misheard or if you wouldn't mind explain! Cheers.
A tail wind lowers your indicated airspeed, which in turn makes it harder to climb. A tail wind is great in the cruise, but in the climb you want a headwind.
frooglesim That's actually not true. You are flying within a parcel of air. A headwind will increase your angle of climb, but not your rate of climb (ie: a headwind will, if viewed from the ground, make your climb look steeper, but you won't climb faster). Just like in a glide, if you hold your best glide speed, you will go further (ie have a shallower descent) with a tail wind, but you won't descend faster.
+Rodney Buckland As an owner of this and some of Carenado's G1000 aircraft, this performs insanely better than the Carenado versions. With the Carenado aircraft, once turning on the G1000 I get a 10+ FPS hit. With this aircraft, I don't even notice an FPS hit. I would say it has similar performance to the Duke although this aircraft is more complex so you will be prone to crashes more often unless you have a beefy computer.
Welp Thanks for your help but my computer cooked its self a bout three months ago so I have no sim now. All I've got is crappy mobile simulation games. Ugh. Anyway thanks!
Can't believe you need 11,000 lbs. of fuel for one journey. What's going to happen to air travel when we run out of oil? This is something we need to start thinking about NOW, Most if not all of it is gonna be gone in 50 - 60 yrs.

You have a huge wealth of knowledge Froogle. It's thanks to you that I've got into Flight simulation on a more serious level.
Cheers.
Alex Ball You're most welcome.

Enjoying the level of detail your going into with this one. It's one of the things that set you apart from a lot of the other reviewers.
Nicely modeled aircraft, may have to find some space in the hanger. Another gr8 video Pete, looking forward to part 3.
Wow Captain JC at the controls I can hear angels singing or it that angels on your 6
Can't wait to see you tackle the localiser approach to PAJN as it deviates from the runway heading by about 12 degrees. Should be interesting.
Haha, Juliana...Juneau...you need to do more Alaska flying man! Prime flying country.

Great video and some fantastic noises coming from that aircraft!
Awesome video and information. You only forgot the condition levers in low idle ;)
Thanks for the 3 parts of the B200.
Froogle, I love your videos, very professional and thorough. You do good work keep it up!
Nice series on the King Air. Very informative. It would be interesting to see this on an X-Plane platform with the 200 or Carenado's Baron (twin I currently fly). Mike P
Tuned in and flying with you!!!. Great video as always!!

Looking forward to the next video into Juli...uh, Juneau ;-)

Brilliant as always.
Thank you Fernando
what controls are you using Saitek? are you running on PC or Mac? do you know if Saitek works with the Mac?
Nice flying
Your videos literally make my day :) love them
Froogle, are you using ASN in this video? Thanks in advance.
another excellent vid. Looking forward to #3. I think you just sold a B200 for Flight1 to me:))
Seems like FADEC would be a welcome feature on a B200.
Great video!! I just purchased this aircraft very cool! What are your computer specs and the camera that you use to look around the plane? thanks lad!!
+Martin Charles I don't recall the specs I had at the time this video was made. I use EZDoc to look around.
+frooglesim Oh ok no worries!! The graphics were nice!! Do you still fly? I am a real pilot and I had a college course on the king air. I had to give a presentation on the fuel system....not too complex but very advanced.

What is the maximum range of the B200 [for FSX]? ..... Thank you for this great video.
What is your cloud draw distance setting in ASN?
Hi Froogle what is your set of rex4? thanks
Those clouds look nice which addon is he using?
The condition lever are remaining on Low Idle all the time?
Have you started using dx10 Froogle?
You mentioned there was a tailwind and that wasn't great. I thought a tail wind was a good thing? correct me if I'm wrong or misheard or if you wouldn't mind explain! Cheers.
A tail wind lowers your indicated airspeed, which in turn makes it harder to climb. A tail wind is great in the cruise, but in the climb you want a headwind.
frooglesim thanks for clearing that up for me, makes sense. Keep these awesome vidoes coming.

You can only pickup ice when flying through visible moisture - clouds. There will never be a case where you pick up ice during cruise in clear air.
What is this flight simulation program called ?
frooglesim how do you pan the camera in the cockpit??
an add on called EZDOC
Hey Froogle, how are the frame rates hit on this plane? Anything compared to the real air Duke?
+Rodney Buckland As an owner of this and some of Carenado's G1000 aircraft, this performs insanely better than the Carenado versions. With the Carenado aircraft, once turning on the G1000 I get a 10+ FPS hit. With this aircraft, I don't even notice an FPS hit.

Flight 1 b200 vs carenado b200 which do you prefer?
Have not tried the Carenado one yet. Nice name by the way
Waiting for your Carenado's B1900D tutorial :)
If I get it, I'll be sure to do a video on it.
Rgr
Just installed this aircraft and loading it now :)
Nice - congratulations and I hope you enjoy her.
I hope this thing has an auto start mode, does it?
+Gregory P why? isn't it better to start it by yourself? :) these are quite complex aircraft, autostart really doesn't make much sense..
+ThomassoCZ That depends on how long it takes. I enjoy taking off, navigating, and landing. I hate starting the things up.
looks like the plane from jurassic park
