  • This vehicle has been with another garage for 7 months, i was told it still has the same fault as it had then, they reached out and asked if we could help.

Go to the person who understands the systems in the first place and save yourself grief! Nice one, Gary!

A great explanation of why a pull up sensor and a pull down sensor can really make things awkward when they look so alike. Another great diagnostic video

Great find that. Classic case of study live data, that is the key to diagnostics. That said the mismatch of sensors would have really thrown me. Great find. Excellent video. Look forward to the next one.

Sadly, customers driven by the lowest cost quote, don't understand the enormous disparity between diagnostic specialists and parts changing garages. Not only do parts changers cost you more in unnecessary parts and labour, in the process they remove good quality genuine parts and slap on cheap rubbish that's either bad out the box, or likely to have a very short lifespan.

P0236 inspect boost and map sensor for oil soaking. clean retest. turbos internally leaking oil onto sensors. You will smell burning oil once boost restored.

Gotta love the parts cannon. When I saw the boost pressure reading KOEO at over 4 volts I was thinking that's too high as it can't go much higher and it has to go up with boost. I'm sure it really needed all those parts...

I had the same problem on a 11 F150 that had no power after an engine swap. Mixed up boost pressure and Barometric pressure sensors on a 3.5 ecoboom. Oddly though it didn't set a code...

sadly we all think the correct part is on the car then replace it with the same part no ,as we read it off the old one not realising joe blogs mucked about with sensors engine changed components /even after phoning local parts supplier they give you wrong part even if yo ask for the correct one ,but what you point out is knowing what should be hapening and what to expect ,diagnostics is all about understanding what the figure you would expect if its not there why ,most of this comes down to ,lack of data ,years ago auto data books were around every other garage subscribed to yearly data books .now the what you to subscribe 1 year upto £2000 , per item ,this is hard for small garages to justify unless you get a lot of work that requires data ..also there no thing like a parts catalauge in you hand ,everything now on line subscribe etc ,then pricing can be a mix ,one supplier £100 dearer for same part ,found this on a nox sensor £128 same part no ,in different eo box £328 ,identical parts ? made by same company ,,, if i was given that part over the counter after asking for correct part they more than likely said superseded part no id walked out thinking was correct it only when fitted .id be questioning if it was correct as it didn't fix or saw that figures not what id expect ,well done great fix
