    I want to thank you for the excellent videos you have posted for stitchers. I have found many helpful tips. I especially like your presentation of the information. You get right to the point and avoid over-sharing of personal information that is often seen in videos produced by others. Thank you again for the excellent videos you share.

    Interesting perspective, thank you. I watched because I’ve been using Thread Magic and absolutely love it for my cross stitching, mainly to keep the thread from shredding and it looks so neat and tidy with very even stitching throughout. However I was thinking about changing to bees was because it’s so much cheaper. However, I think I’ll stick with Thread Magic, at least for my current project, to keep the look consistent. I’m going to experiment with white beeswax to see how it compares. I don’t find TM changes the colour which is super important, in my opinion. Thanks so much for your opinion. I found it through provoking and very helpful. 😻

      I'm glad you found the video thought provoking. Although I didn't find any difference to my stitching with or without it, I would be interested to test it out on a larger amount of stitches to compare the neatness of the stitches. I've never noticed my threads shredding except occasionally at the very end of a piece, but maybe I would still see a difference with the thread conditioner. I think I am mostly just too lazy to add that extra step of conditioning every thread though 😂

      @@catkinandlillie I strongly recommend you do a larger project using TM. It really does give a lovely subtle polished finish to your cross stitch. I’m going to try a light coating of white beeswax when I get my hands on some to compare the diffidence. Thanks again. 😻

    I love Thread Heaven so much! I’m so sad it was discontinued. I’ve not tried Thread Magic, as I still have my wonderful Thread Heaven and using it sparingly! I’ve never wanted to put wax on my threads. I just don’t understand why I would do that with the products available today. I have some little wax things-but they’re just for decoration in my fancy stitchy things cabinet! 😉

      As you'll have seen I don't often use my Thread Heaven as I just don't find it helps much...but I preferred it to beeswax! I agree...better for decorative purposes!

    I love your videos. I always learn something new. I have thought about using Beeswax. But after watching your video, I will skip it. Jean Farish, another FlossTuber, has a video where she shows the container she uses to keep a damp sponge for her floss. I have never tried it. Happy New Year, Kat!

      Thanks so much, it's great to hear you're loving my videos! Keeping a damp sponge in a container sounds like a good idea and also good to help thread your needle I imagine...if you don't like to lick the thread ends - lol! Happy New Year to you too!

    Hello wondering where you clear boxes with the pink labels are from? Have learned alot from you !

      I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
      I bought the plastic boxes over 10 years ago so unfortunately I don't remember where from, but these are basically the same;
      www.plasticboxshop.co.uk/craft-storage-boxes-c4/12-x-12-scrapbooking-paper-plastic-storage-box-p93
      www.westonboxes.com/products/scrapbook-paper-and-card-storage
      I hope that gives you an idea of where to start at least. If you Google '12 inch plastic paper storage box' you should get the right kind of results showing up.
      The pink labels I made using a handheld Brother label maker. I do love pink!

    I have beeswax I haven’t used yet. I purchased it because many stitchers in FB groups I belong to have recommended it for use on metallic threads. Their advice comes up because so many people complain about how awful metallic thread tangles and swear off using it ever again. I am branching out in my use of cross stitch materials, including metallics, and plan on using it later this year, particularly Christmas ornaments. So we shall see…

      I definitely think it helps a lot with metallic threads, although I've only tried my Thread Heaven and not the beeswax so far. If you haven't already spotted them I have a couple of videos on metallic threads with more tips 😄

    Thread Heaven has become Thread Magic. (Or replaced)
    I find it works the exact same. I use it in both my cross stitching and my beading.

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I only have Thread Heaven but that's why I mentioned Thread Magic as it seems to have been the natural successor! Good to know they are basically the same in how they work 😄

    Do you rinse your thread for colorfastness before using? I recently found that recommendation on a kit and realized that I’d never seen that recommendation before.

    • @catkinandlillie
      @catkinandlillie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I generally don't but that's because I would pretty much always use DMC threads and I know they won't run when washed. If I had a kit with unbranded threads then I would be more worried about it and it's worth a test beforehand, especially if it's recommended in the instructions. You can snip a tiny piece off each colour of thread and drop them all in a little dish of water, then watch if any colour runs out. If it does, then I wouldn't wash that piece at the end!

    • @LittleRockVol
      @LittleRockVol ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And wait several minutes after placing the pieces in water as Kat suggested because the bleeding of color isn’t instantaneous.
