Thank you very much for creating and posting! Very grateful to be able to show to others -- I had the same boat, with slightly different sail 30 years ago, and loved sailing it on the Great Lakes, as well as in South Carolina! Really terrific job!
They were great boats.Ihad one35years ago made by AMF.It would give you a workout sailing it hard in any kind of wind.l had worked all summer for the money. At the time,a fiberglass laser cost the sameInthe end I decided the Force5 looked like the better boat. Unfortunately, not many people agreed with me.If you ever sailed an Olympic Finn, theywereclose.I had my Force5 for ten years and sold it for about what Ipaid for it
This is Awesome, just got a Force 5 haven't even rigged it yet...don't even know how...do you know where I can find some good Force 5 rigging instructions.
Thanks, there is good info here. force5.us/main/ and look under boat information. Also search online for force 5 rigging and search images. you will get good info that way as well. have fun with your new boat!
The vang is used to contol the boom when sailing down wind. Not for sheeting in when sailing upwind. At 54 seconds in you can see me ease the main and the vang goes taught. That's my vang setting.
@@fx1mark Thanks for the response! Love your sail by the way! I'm also wondering if letting out the main sail a bit and tightening the vang is how to spill wind out of the main. I just purchased a Force 5 after years of not sailing.
@@kaseypeters7491 Thanks. When sailing upwind you need to be able adjust the main as the wind speed changes. You can also adjust the traveller. The vang is used only for sailing down wind. Be carefull putting too much force down on the boom as I am told the boom can break off of the mast. I sold my force 5 about a year ago because we had sold our lakehouse. It's a fun boat and a handfull on windy days. Enjoy.
