Somehow I can picture Ivan meeting Harold in the great beyond, grinning and asking "Where do these stairs go?" and Harold giving his trademark Egon Spengler smirk as he replies "They go up."
How wonderful that, thanks to his son, Ivan was able to ride with the Ghostbusters one last time before the end.

The outpouring of kind words and condolences for Ivan just shows how well loved and respected he was by his fellow film makers and fans across the world. He'll be sorely missed but never forgotten.

@@Jucelegario he was said to be in good health so it’s hard to say until they do the autopsy and he more than likely was vaccinated beforehand to work on his movies
Ivan will always be the 5th Ghostbuster in my heart. I feel like Jason and Ivan are part of my family now. I have friends who were lucky enough to meet Ivan and said he was a sweet, quiet man with a good laugh, but surprised you recognized him, and that you wanted to talk to him as well as Jason. That tells me everything I need to know and wish I could have met him too. Perhaps in the next life. Rest well in Valhalla, Ivan.

My prayers go out to Mr Reitman's family, he will never be forgotten by the Ghostbusters' fans. I would also like to take this opportunity to send out prayers to Bill Murray, whose brother has also died.
Ivan Reitman still got the last laugh. Imagine if he passed when his most popular work was reduced to bad memories of an ill-conceived unnecessary reboot.

100% agree with that statement. Don't forget Meatballs, Stripes, Kindergarten Cop and of course, Evolution as well though. 🙂 Also am so glad that Afterlife was able to have some pretty good exposure before his passing, especially after that 2016 dumpster fire/joke of a reboot. That shit stain of a "movie", surprisingly, didn't destroy the Brands namesake.
All of his movies were great and funny. Ghostbusters was the one movie that I fell in love with as a kid. From dressing up as a Ghostbuster in Elementary School for Halloween, and doing it again working for a movie theatre to interact with fans for the weekend of Ghostbusters Afterlife, I've been a fan my whole life. Thank you for everything Ivan Reitman, thanks for the memories.

RIP I’m glad that Ghostbusters finally got a 3rd movie of sorts and he got to see his son honour his legacy. A legendary comedy director.
"Of sorts" nothing. _Afterlife_ is the third movie; maybe not the one we wanted (the video game served that role, since it was made when Harold Ramis was still alive and in good enough health to play Egon in full), but I think it was the one we needed (it honored Harold's legacy and Egon's character), and I'm glad Ivan Reitman was able to play a key role in bringing it to life. Godspeed, sir, and thanks for everything.

That man made my #1 favorite move and spawned a franchise I’ve followed for years. And he died a legend of film. He will remain in peoples’ minds for his work, character, and overall being a good person. Hell Ghostbusters is one of the reasons I want to pursue a career in film.
I love all the movies, he has made, he will truly be missed, and his son will carry on the spirit of Ghostbusters, and and then some, we Miss you RIP.

I will always remember watching Ghostbusters in the theater for the first time as a seven year old and hiding under the seat during the scene where Dana opens the refrigerator. It was amazing to me then but also pretty scary for a kid. Bill Murray and Harold Ramis were two of my first big crushes as a kid, funny nerds. Ivan also made a film that was much maligned but that I love to this day called Legal Eagles, starring Robert Redford, Debra Winger and Darryl Hannah. Ivan, you will always be remembered as a great talent. ❤️

I'm still trying to properly figure out how I want to feel about his passing. It was just basically out of nowhere practically
Actually when you look at some of the ghostbuster reunions that took place of the last few years, Ivan did not look well. He was basically slouched on the seat and somewhat frail and I got the impression that his days were numbered. Just an instinct
I watched the ghost busters animated show before the live movie. When I was a little kid I thought the cartoon came first. I still have the entire cartoon series on a USB drive plugged into my PS4 when ever I wanna relive my childhood after playing GTA or RDR.
RIP Ivan reitman, Your a hero to millions of GB Fans and your legacy lives on.

Ivan Reitman was like a real life super hero to me. Ghostbusters and many of his other movies were a huge inspiration for the type of man I became, the humor I developed as I grew up. I never got to meet him but I always felt close to him because of his talent, the stories he was able to tell.

When I heard the news I was heartbroken over this, he made one of the best movie franchises for everyone to enjoy. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. Thanks for the good years. Ivan will be missed.
Really sucks that he passed so soon, but atleast he got to see the third Ghostbusters film as well as the fan's positive reception of it before he passed away.

I liked the tributes but I hated Paul Feig’s twitter tribute. I’ll never forgive him for how he betrayed Ivan to make that godawful parody in 2016 by conspiring with Amy Pascal to remove him from the production.
I’m glad Ivan was able to pass the torch to Jason to redeem the franchise.
