LOVE the new location Sending Tillie EXTRA hug and kiss as always Thank You for the review - I do adore Nick Hornby's writing and About A Boy - the book and the movie - nobody other than Hugh Grant could bring that to life so very well. A bit of autumn / gothic reading could be nice on the way to spooky season.
That recognition thing. I had it when I read Barbara Pym’s Quartet in Autumn. It was England and London of the mid-70s all over again, although I was then much younger than the protagonists of the book! I didn’t feel that Tilly was upstaging you, everyone has their own podcasting style (and I love dogs). Happy reading!
I love watching your videos Rosamunde! It doesn't really matter where you sit and what is in the background! Always happy to see Tilly too! She is so adorable!🙂 I must say I usually prefer the books to the movie! I haven't seen this one yet though so I guess I'm going to have to check it out! Thank you for another great video!
Love the new film location though I can see more of your home and now I want a home tour. Hahaha. I didn’t know the movie was based off a book I may have to check it out now.
Hello, thanks for this review ! I just loved the movie fever pitch, and thus discovered Nick Hornby. Such good movie. You make me want to read his books. Thank you !
I read the book many, many years ago and saw the movie, which was so well done! Thanks for reviewing this book. I think your video has inspired a second reading.
I loved the 2 movies from his books (High Fidelity and About a Boy), now you´ve inspired me to read his books. My fav author is Joanne Harris, although I´m not a fan of thrillers in general. I´ve read Gentelman players, it´s the first of a trillogy. I prefer her "Chocolat" series, I loved them all. Waiting for the 5th one next year, "Vianne", the prequel.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies! I had no ideathecending was different in the book, so now I need to read it. This new setting is nice, too, but I will watch no matter where you film.
Love the new setting! Your chair is beautiful. I remember seeing the movie About A Boy and really enjoying it but youve inspired me to read the book now. I have Gentlemen and Players on my TBR so be interested to see what you think. If you’re after ideas, I’d love you to do a “Shelfie Tour” I was trying to read what the books were in the shelf beside you 😊 and when doing the A-Z of authors please do yourself. I’m currently reading Out of Time and absolutely loving it! Would like to hear about your other books too. Give sweet Tilly a hug for us 🥰
Thank you. The chair was an old one (18th or 19th century) which my mother bought and re-upholstered - a hobby of hers. Thanks for your suggestions - I will have a think about that. It's somehow easier talking about other people's books than my own! I might combine a swift journey along my bookshelves with a look at my own books as a possibility...
This was delightful. I also love Nick Hornby. Which reaminds me, I've been meaning to read Juliet Naked for ages, since that is one of my favourite movies... And I love your new filming angle. Your place is so charming and beautiful. I really enjoyed having a little peek, since I love interior design... 😍
@@booksfrommybookshelf Also, I just watched some videos from people that talk about ten books that made them. I'd love to see your take on it if you'd be willing to film it. I just find it fascinating how much of an influence a good book can have on our lives... Here's an example of the concept behind the video: th-cam.com/video/M0e2UJJMlME/w-d-xo.html
Great review. I haven't read anything by Nick Hornby, but this sounds so good. I'll definitely be checking it out. I like the new location. Whatever works better for you. I'm looking forward to your Halloween video. I always love spooky or creepy no matter the time of year. It's always nice to see sweet Tillie.
I have no idea who Nick Hornby is being a 77 year old New Englander, but enjoyed your review anyway. Nice to see the rest of your cozy home too! And it’s never too early for Halloween recommendations. How do you spell Tillie, LE or Y? Anyway she is adorable as always. 😊
Hornby is a very English writer, with very English self-deprecating humour, so I can understand that he's not so well known in the States. I would think the film is quite well known, though. Tilly is spelled with a 'Y'. 🙂
A change of scenery is always welcome and Tilly is such a scene stealer. However, even I get a little tired of her tail swishing over your face. I welcome the change but that doesn't' mean I never want to see little Tilly!
Like the new location.
I love Tilly’s tail wherever it goes and the new setting is lovely.
Love the new setting 🎉
Also, I love the room you are filming in.

Yes, Hugh Grant was perfect casting for Marcus! Thanks for your comments 🙂

Great new location. Love it. As always, your book review is very interesting.
And loved the sound of the rain ❤
I was glad it was background and not too intrusive - the rain was relentless on Monday!
Love the new location ❤

Thanks, I’ve always wondered about this book. Now I’ll give it a try.

Yes I was quite surprised by how different the ending was! I don't think it would have worked in the film, but I think it rounds things off better.

Forgot to say Nick Hornby did a brilliant film adaptation of Nina Stibb’s book, “Love Nina”

@@veronikakratka6917 Thank you - I might just do that for my next video!
@@booksfrommybookshelf Amazing! I'm really looking forward to it. 🙂
I am definitely ready for a seasonal shift, and don't think it's too early for a bit of autumnal reading.
I studied several sections of this book with the film some 10 years ago with some of my French students in France : they loved it😅
What a great study - I would have loved that too!
Thanks, Rosamunde. Your new location is lovely. 💐 Carol
Thank you so much!
I loved the film haven't read the book thankyou 😊
Hello Rosamund, I would enjoy a video about Daphne du Maurier, one of my favourite authors. Best wishes Susanne
She should be coming up on my A to Z of Authors series fairly soon - so watch this space!
